Are there any celebrities, or just famous people in general, that you think would make for a good planeswalker character? Either because of personality traits, look, or some other metric.
Stumbled across a rendition of Benedict Cumberbatch as a wizard which made me wonder of other possibilities.
22, doing a PhD in English. Started playing with Portal 1 (1997) as did someone else in this thread. Played a little competitive in 1999/2000 but I've just played casual ever since.
Well, I'm 22 now. Started playing when I was 7 when two of my elementary school friends introduced me to the game. When I was 10 I moved out of the states to Asia with my dad (he was sent to Singapore for work), but I would come back in the summers and me and my two buddies would play. Over the next 8 years it was really good bond that kept us very close, and even now they are still my 2 best friends (through living abroad and college).
Magic means a lot because it's a purely social thing with those two friends, and how it helped me stay in touch those first years when I moved. Of course now whenever I'm back in that area there is a LGS I got to and I've met a lot of other people playing there. I've put a lot of time, and money into the game, but if my friends ever gave it up I'd also stop playing without hesitation. So in that sense it is special to me, but at the same time the game itself is not that special to me. On a personal level, it's pretty low on the priority list.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone had a hi-res image of the Rishadan Port artwork? (For desktop wallpaper or something). Or if there is the full artwork by Jerry Tiritilli somewhere out there (I did some googling but couldn't find anything).
I met Paul Muldoon just a few days ago at a conference, great guy and his poetry reading was phenomenal. He had these dramatic/comedic pauses that you just wouldn't read if you were reading his poems yourself.
He targets one of the golems with Mirran Mettle. The Precursor Golem causes the Mettle to copy 3 times, targeting the other 3 golems in play. He then pays 8 life and uses the Spellskite's ability to change the targets of all those Mettles to the Spellskite, and swings over with flying.
A scientist whose work is too abstruse to be explained coherently to a layman, does not possess a sufficient understanding of reality, and ought not be considered a legitimate scientist.
Furthermore, if we're going to start limiting disclosure of scientific information based not upon the accuracy or inaccuracy of that information, but rather upon the perceived abilities of members of the public to comprehend things, then we are going to have to reclassify science as a religion, because that is how it will be operating.
I have a question: would you consider Richard Feynman, under your definition, to be a "legitimate scientist?"
How do scientists' "types" pertain to the responsibility of science to benefit the public? Do some "types" of scientists have the privilege of receiving public resources in exchange for secrecy and obfuscation, or worse, presumptuous misanthropy that informs environmental policy for Great Britain, or Europe, or the West, or the whole of mankind?
Oh I see, you believe scientific research must be done in order to benefit the public, never mind then. It seems that you are typifying all scientists as the "climate scientist," and scientific research as "research done by climate scientists."
Ya I really like having my own individual style of poetry but I also like to get a feel for the wonderful parts of other peoples styles and incorporate what resonates with me :). Not particular worried about my form just like to become more well rounded in something relatively new to me. Thanks for the good advice. Also any poets you would suggest reading?
T.S. Eliot, Hart Crane, & James Merrill if you're looking for something more cerebral.
Wallace Stevens, William Carlos Willams, Robert Frost are some big names from the modernist period also.
Midcentury and later, Elizabeth Bishop, Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs.
Other more "recent" poets are Louise Gluck, William Stafford, Mark Strand, Charles Simic, and Robert Bly.
I mean, the list is endless really. But as with writing goes, read as much as you write. Which is to say, read and write a lot! It's all good and well to write for yourself if that is what you want, but persistence plays a factor in these things.
Does Epic trigger upon casting or resolution? If someone has Hive Mind out and someone casts a spell with Epic, do all the other copies also have the Epic ability too then?

Holy cow Bristol those are excellent, I don't really make those kinds of posts but if I do I'll be sure to include you in the list. My favorite is a tie between the sword, the horde, the overseer, and the shaman. Awesome work!
I'll just post my highlander artifact deck (not EDH!) I first built it in 2003 a few months before Mirrodin came out. Obviously it has gone through several upgrades/iterations since then.
