I'm picking up the deck again after an extensive lay off (had a child so priorities and opportunities had to change unfortunately.
Can someone help out with a rough sideboard guide for the major archetypes to get me back up to speed with everything?
On page 140 there is a good guide that can help you.
Feeling that there would be a lot of decks with Red and/or White, yesterday played the BG infect. Did 4-0.
2-0 vs Boros Burn
2-1 vs Affinity
2-0 vs Junk
2-1 vs UR
Let see what happen tomorrow if I play the Simic or Golgari infect. Only to say that I have more fun with the BG infect than UG.
Is it ok if you could post BG infect deck list? I used to play BUG infect back in 2014 and would like to try the deck again.
Question on the bant eldrazi matchup, is fish really favored against it? Because most of the time it feels like a race or slightly in favor of the eldrazis.
Not as much as you think. They can just dredge back a GGT and then cast it along with other dredgers. RiP is a much better/more solid answer vs dredge.
It's just back-up to RiP which you won't always have in your hand.
G1 i'm on the play. Relatively slow start And Eidolon deals me 6 dmg or so. Not nice. G2 i go as usual playing reshapers And TKS gets me there.
G3 i mull to no lander. My 6 is very slow but i fear to mull into oblivion And hope i draw some action. I didnt. My hand was something like 3 lands 1 noble 2 smashers. I get to stabilizise on 2 And smashers got me there after stripping Deflecting Palm with a TKS, i cant say much i really dont know How i won there. The Palm would have won he the game but playing around it And finding TKS off Stirrings was a very good play by me.
R3: Bogles(win 2-1)
G1 mull to 5 by me gg. G2 explosives And smashers ftw. G3 i keep a very good hand with noble And temple, my op mulls to 5 gg.
R4:Dredge (lose 1-2)
G1 i missplay by exploding his two drops with 3 bridges on the gy, that one was lame i havent played against dredge not one time in my life. Only know some theory. I was playing to drowner/displacer lock. He got me.
G2 turn 2 TKS getting his faithless looting gg. G3 again, i keep a slow hand And collective brutality kills my noble And does other absurd stuff. He wrecked me.
R5: Burn( win 2-1)
G1 temple And reshapers are mvp. G2 i keep a good hand much like the first one. This time on the draw And didnt draw sideboard so a tight race ends in his favor the turn i was going for lethal. G3 another race which i own because of Timely reinforcents. Displacer And drowner seal the deal.
Overall deck felt very powerful and probably the best deck in the format to be honest.
Played a stock list without Skyspawners And with 1 BoP.
Whats the thing with dredge? Can someone give a line of play/sequencing?
Thanks And Sorry if it was kinda rushed im on the phone.
If you want to beat dredge, you need 3 pieces of grave hate in the board, and you need to draw 1-2 of them and work to Drowner + Displacer
I've recently bought into the deck and did some playtests with my buddies (merfolk, UG infect, UW spirits, living end and dredge).
My issues with the deck is that sometimes I flood on lands and most of the time my opening hand is quite dismal.
To address the issue, what do you guys think about cutting maybe 2 lands (1 brushland and 1 yavimaya coast)? And replace them with 2 Sylvan Scrying or 2 Explore, or maybe even a 1/1 split? Comments are most welcome.
Nice article! Right on target with your general rule of thumb when it comes on opening hands.
I'm just not sold on the Fracturing Gust in the sideboard since we already have the 3-4 explosives to deal with boggles and a bunch of removals (paths, dismember, explosives, etc.) and 2-3 stony silence to deal with affinity.
I have 2 All is Dust in my sideboard as back-up for bigger things that explosives couldn't handle and much easier to cast if you already have temples in play since it's an eldrazi spell and can be found through stirrings.

Fish newbie here and I've got a few questions on the match against suicide zoo. At 34:18, why didn't the zoo player use his gurmag angler to block Nikachu's mutavault ?
Also, why did Nikachu held back and didn't attack with his master of the pearl trident?
Mutavault was unblockable due to Islandwalk. As for why he didn't attack with the master, it doesn't make a difference as the opponent is dead anyway (slaughter pact would be one card the opponent could cast here maybe? It'd be incredibly strange in death's shadow, and even then would not due anything because of Kira). Assuming there was some possible combination of cards for the opponent to find a way out, attacking with the master doesn't change that - if they can somehow kill something they can either kill the master and then they can block something else with Angler now that Islandwalk is gone or simply kill something else and block the master to kill it. If they somehow had a way to gain life to survive the attack he went with (also not sure what the hell that'd be), attacking with master doesn't change that as it just runs into the Angler and dies for free.
Thanks. Also, I didn;t notice the zoo player had a steam vents in play hence the islandwalk.

i'm playing the deck with 3 nahiri, its pretty good. she is a great multi purpose silver bullet when you land her. if not that she seemlessly integrates with her first ability. if living end is comprimised then you just use it as a board wipe to protect her while you build up to the ultimate ability for emmy.
list plox[quote]
the 3 beast within and 2 spirit guides are my flex spots right now, I change them around trying to find the right balance. though with nahiri and emmy in the deck, those 4 slots can be considered flex just as well.
Just curious, how does your current deck list fare against aggro decks like naya/gruul zoo, naya burn, affinity, etc. ?
Hey guys, wath do you think about Nahiri's Wrath?, It looks like a interesting wrath, the CMC of our creatures its good to kill practically any targuet and we can discard dead cards like lands or LE to upgrade the X, but i dont know if its good for LE.
If you discard a creature to Nahiri's Wrath without paying the cycling cost, you won't get to draw a card. If you discard a land or LE, they're practically zero mana so it wouldn't do damage.
@jeff1031: how is Night of Soul's Betrayal working out for you? where do you usually side it in.
This is what I was going to ask. I have a copy that's been rotting in my binder for years! It'll see some play if someone can convince me of it's worth
Can be used against the mana dorks of Abzan Company, B/W Tokens, creatures of infect and affinity. A bit slow though.
In your match against Esper control, you had no kira in MD or just didn't draw it?

It's just back-up to RiP which you won't always have in your hand.
Grafdigger's Cage also wrecks dredge.
How many copies of lead the stampede do you play?
As an alternative to stampede, which would you prefer among these 3: commune with nature, seek the wilds, or gift of the gargantuan?

I substituted kitchen finks for brindle boar and it worked better for me against aggro decks. It also goes back to the battlefield after an LE bomb.

Sharing my 2 cents.
