Bigeyes, its the same verbatim as Lantern (sans sideboard, in which I am currently working as I think that's more of a meta call). Sorry if I didnt share that previously.
Won 4-0 my local tourney with Naya Knightfall. Negate was an absolute all star, allowing me to beat burn twice. Didnt drop geist willingly, maybe it is better against Jund, abzan and the sorts. I was able to combo twice, but I prefered not doind it, as the games were fairly on my side with just the beatdown plan.
Beat 2-0 infect, 2-0 UB mill (he was sort of a new player so it was a free win), 2-1 burn and 2-0 burn.
I like Undergrowth Champion for one specific matchup: Tron. I think it could be useful against Wurmcoil Engine, which can be a pain in the ass. The fact that it has a good synergy with knight of the reliquary makes it much more fun. But it might be too narrow to consider it.
1st game: 1-2 affinity. First game he beat me fast. Second game he started with an awfully slow hand and I packed so much removal (primademage and two lightning) he just couldnt deal with it. Third game I should've won but I misplayed it horribly, fetching for a fetch instead of kessig. Got greedy and I was punished by it. Still a good learning experience.
2nd game: 2-0 burn. First game he went to 5 cards on the play. I stuffed one of his burn spells with dromoka and he just scooped. Second game I deployed a thalia, a spellskite and a kor and he couldnt do much.
3rd game: 1-1 burn. First game he was at 11 I was at 4. He found the land he was missing and boros charmed me. Second game I beat him with a scavenging ooze that just grew too much. It was a long ass game thus we went to 3rd game with 5 minutes left. He went all in and left me at 5. He ran out of gas and I started gaining life with ooze. We went to turns and I was still at 6 he was at 11. I think I would've won, but I will never know.
4th game: Grixis Control 2-0. First game I quickly deployed a loxodon, he terminated it. He snapped the same terminate to destroy a tarmo. I deployed a nacatl and started with the beat down. his angler found a path. I deployed a qasali, he didnt counter it. Instead he kolaghan'd it and he found another loxodon. Kept with the beatdown he couldnt find the terminate gg. Second game, I went for an early choke he wqas all tapped out. Looked at his hand and he scooped.
Won against Gruul Zoo 2-0 (nothing newsworthy. Coco shone)
Lost against Affinity 1-2 (it feels like I can only get to keep on game 2 if I have at least some kind of hate in order for me to keep. Regular good hands do not cut it)
Won against Grixis Control 2-1 (Went to extra turns, both with empty hands. I get to drew a CoCo on turn 3. Swing for the win on game 5. Felt great)
Lost against Grixis Control 0-2 (I felt like my lack of experience shone. I kept an iffy first game hand, with a lot of 3 drops, when in this matchup I think I learned that you need to have a lot of early pressure in order for you to win. Either way I think it is a winnable matchup, but the pilot also drew and played pretty good)
Yesterday I was able to beat burn (went 2-1-1 overall winning against UR delver, Naya Burn; drawing to Storm and losing to Jund). I play Thalia mainboard (its a meta call and its replacing 2 tarmos that I don't have currently) and collected company brought it. It wrecked his beat down plan, and later I deployed a Scavenging Ooze as I stood in 7 life.
So three things:
1.- Think about your meta. Net decking is fun, but if it doesnt respond to your meta then you are going to have a bad time.
2.- Thalia rocks.
3.- Scavenging Ooze late game is scary as ****.
How do you roll against the worst matchups for Naya Zoo Company? I'd like to know how you deal against Bogles (do you expect to race them first game? surprise them with a colected company outta nowhere?) or against Tron. My meta is full of GR Tron and I find it difficult to navigate against a well placed Oblivion Stone if I am not carrying a Qasali or if i dont pack enough hate.
Won against U tron at Untap today. Ripped my arse game 1. Sided in the Cavern of Souls and game 3 with a monastery mentor (and despite a 0 mana Chalice of the Void) I played the equipments I had to go wide and did shennanigans until I won.
I drew against Monogreen devotion. I drew no lands except for the one I had in my opening hand and lost. Second game, I sided in angel's grace x 2, drew one and I did some recursion with noxious revival which allowed me to go wide enough with monastery mentor and paladin in play to beat him game 2. I couldnt stay for game 3 so we left it there.
I have been testing this deck online and it has given me a lot of sweet deals. Thus far I am more on board with 4 serum visions in mainboard as they have been tremendous in terms of deciding what I want to draw (For example, in the last game I played I would've drawn two glimmervoids in a row, yuck). I feel much safer with that, than having to tutor with muddle the mixture, which has costed me a few games (slow, gives away my play in advance, relies on three lands). I am also playing Myth Realized as a 1-of, and it hasnt been great nor terrible. It scares a lot of people, and it gives a solid turn 1 play, if you ask for my experience.
Thanks to all of you for bringing this beautiful deck to my sight.
