I've tried the ramp in RG. It has a lot of bombs to ramp into so it was good. But I'm going to shake it up once more.
R/G is going to crisscross with G/W as much as possible. This could either be a form of aggro or tokens and I'm leaning towards the last. Any good cards in Gruul that jump to mind when I say tokens?
I've tried this card in one deck and came to the same conclusion. You want this card to work, but the reality is it doesn't. When I wanted to cast him early in the game, he costed too much. When he was cheap, I also had a full hand and didn't want to lose that advantage. Too much trouble, unfortunately
I'm trying to redesign my cube, and I'm thinking about all kinds of possible ways to do this.
One idea is this: Instead of including all 10 color pairs, I would only include 5 color pairs, not all enemy or all allied color pairs but a mix.
I'm thinking about B/G, U/R, U/B, R/W and G/W. This would still "balance" the cube as every color is twice in all combinations.
Doing this has certains advantages
- Making a larger section for the selected color pairs to support the various archetypes in those color pairs better
- Adding a bit more support for the mono colored decks (as more spots open up)
If I do this, I'm thinking about keeping the full ABU Dual cycle and full Fetchland cycle in for all color pairs, because there is little downside to including them in your deck and would still add a little support if players want to go for an unsupported color pair.
Are there any cube managers here who have experience with this approach? Are there any possible big upsides or big downsides I'm missing?
Ye, same goes for when you blink him, reanimate him ect, I think. The card on the battlefield is a new Gonti and has no "connection" to the card that was exiled earlier.
It's true it doesn't have any connection but that doesn't matter. The card says "For as long as that card remains exiled, you may look at it, you may cast it, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any type to cast it." That effect is created by the ETB trigger. It doesn't matter is Gonti is no longer in play by then. So afaik you can still cast the card as long as it remains exiled.
I'm very happy with 540 because we do burn drafts now a lot of the time.
Being able to draft a full cube with 4 players (and burn 2) or 6 players (burn 1) makes 540 a very good size. I could try downsizing my cube instead, but really, who wants to make 100+ cuts from his list?
I'm trying to look for more ramp centered cards, to signal players that R/G is a ramp combination.
For example Radha, Heir to Keld would be decent card, but it doesn't feel right adding that instead of Fires of Yavimaya.
I am trying to redesign my cube, starting from the 10 color pairs, with an archetype in each color pairs as basis.
For RG I was thinking about choosing Superramp. However, browsing this topic a bit, I didn't find much support for that. It seems I should make the RG archetype Stompy. What do you guys think? If you think ramp, any suggestions?
Apparently I don't run this card and I should find room for this! I guess Dack's Duplicate can go for this.
My most expensive card is a Savannah from Alpha. Now close to 1000 euros, I bought it for 80 at some point.
I am told that Tarmogoyf foil from FUT is also worth a bunch.
Sometimes the extra ability will be just flavor text, but the card might still serve its purpose. What makes this card interesting to me is that I could see both abilities in and of themselves being relevant in different decks, with the other ability being basically flavor text. Cards that can serve multiple purposes are always nice.
I have played the wishes in cube before, and their playability is driven by how you make the cards work. If all it tutors from is your unused draft pile, they're pretty mediocre. But I've seen people play them where they can grab cards from the entire undrafted remainder of the cube, and they're pretty great that way.
I was thinking that would be way to OP. I do have Booster Tutor (using 15 cards from the unused pile) and people really enjoy playing that card, so it wouldn't be a bad idea. Logistically it would be a nightmate though, finding a creature or land in 180-360 leftover pile can take quite a long time Still thinking about this but thanks for the advice
I have spent tons of hours reading these forums. I consider this website my primary source for spoilers, cube discussions and deck primers. Very sad to see it come to an end. Thanks for everything!
I came up with the following list (in somewhat likely order). Just have to narrow it down in the next days

I can get behind that ;-) Might test...
