I think that we're reading too much into the Hawkeye/Axelrod thing. The way I saw it was that Hawkeye tried to kill Ljustus, Axelrod was protecting Ljustus, and when Axelrod killed Hawkeye, Hawkeye's bomb took out Axelrod.

I suppose that makes sense. Here's blue's description:
    Quote from fadeblue »
Near LJustus' room, the walls have been scorched and beaten. There appears to have been some sort of explosion in the hall, and there are two bodies lying in its wake.

This seems to rule out Hawkeye from working in the normal Mafia way. I think swinkee may be on to something-perhaps there could be a second SK or something to that amount.

    Double post (again...sorry)
Out of boredom, I flipped through the beginning of the thread, and found this.

    Bowser: Well, he breathes fire?

Significance? It might have something to do with the fire-based killings.

Hey, I hadn't noticed that. I just saw the pierced by a lance part and stopped reading. Both Axelrod and Hawkeye suffered the same means of attack at the same time.

I might speculate about an unblockable kill choice for the mafia that costs them a player or something, but it would be a sucky ability, and in any case, it didn't happen w/ EM.

Maybe it was caused by a bomb? You could theorize that Axel was really a vig and he targetted HAWKEYE, and Bomberman had an ability that caused whoever killed him to be burnt to a crisp. That would reduce the number of protective abilities we assume there are, but it still doesn't explain EM's cause of death, though. I don't know.

    Like I said in #1131.

To get back to what was said earlier about the people who have been killed during the night, three of the four were burned to death. Personally, I think Hawkeye killed Einsteinmonkey and was surprised by Axelrod, and used bombs to blow them up. However, this doesn't explain how the fourth victim, Tyros, had his throat slit instead. Perhaps our lurker was actually Hawkeye, but it still doesn't give us an idea of who else is out there...

Maybe any serial killers out there are either very sneaky or at least differentiating from the normalcy that is the supposed Mafia fire-killing. Chucklez makes a good point that Puzzle or Musashi probably cannot be SK's, but they still could be mafia. I doubt they both are mafia, especially considering the case that epeeguy presented. The biggest problem with my original idea in #1131 was that I misinterpreted the death list.

This isn't even possible. Hawkeye was killed Night 1 (along with Tyros and Axelrod) and Einsteinmonkey was killed on Night 2.

Whatever happened to Eiseinmonkey refutes the idea that Hawkeye was the SK, at least. This still gives reason that Hawkeye was simply in the wrong place and dropped the bomb.

Here's Fade's list of kills (so this isn't breaking any rules-it's from post 1, so it's public domain)

    21. Einsteinmonkey - Bub (Bubble Bobble) - TOWN - horribly burnt to death, Night 2
    2. magicianofthought - commando (Contra) - TOWN - executed Duck Hunt-style, Day 2
    19. Tyros - Chef Peter Pepper (Burgertime) - TOWN - throat slit, Night 1
    12. Axelrod - knight (Joust) - TOWN - burnt to a crisp, Night 1
    11. HAWKEYE7 - Bomberman (Bomberman) - MAFIA - pierced by a lance then burnt to a crisp, Night 1
    5. SorryGuy - Dana (Solomon's Key) - TOWN - barreled to death, Day 1

    Killed during the night:
    21. Einsteinmonkey - Bub (Bubble Bobble) - TOWN - horribly burnt to death, Night 2
    19. Tyros - Chef Peter Pepper (Burgertime) - TOWN - throat slit, Night 1
    12. Axelrod - knight (Joust) - TOWN - burnt to a crisp, Night 1
    11. HAWKEYE7 - Bomberman (Bomberman) - MAFIA - pierced by a lance then burnt to a crisp, Night 1

From the Axelrod/Hawkeye scenario, there's evidence that Hawkeye suffered reprecussions from his attack on Axelrod, probably in an attempt to save himself. Tyros was probably hunted down by the serial killer, which shows that he differentiates from the pattern of the mafia. If Hawkeye's incident is any signal, then Einsteinmonkey was killed by a mafia attack. Still, though, this doesn't give any idea as to who can kill with fire or why.

I also think it is safe to assume that the mafia can only kill with fire

But then what happened to Hawkeye, who was Mafia but was burned? If the mafia kill with fire, then was the kill accidental misfiring, poor location, or splash damage?

After thinking about it for a bit, I think the scum may have a doc type role among them. If we're all supposed to be the heros from our games, there may be a shortage of vanilla townies. To compensate, I would think the scum would get abilities too.

My issue now is trying to figure out if puzzle and musashi are BOTH scum or not. They would be insane to try this gambit, but then again, this has Cunning Plan(TM) written all over it. It just may be a scum aligned one.

Sometimes, insanity is where it's at. FOS Musashi.

Huh. But what are the odds of three characters meeting at the same time? Perhaps there's another person...nah. I'm going to stop thinking about it...although the Tyros incident was perhaps too clean...associated with one spy we know, maybe?

Do you think Musashi is capable of doing that without getting himself modkilled?

    (double post-sorry)

It's all strategy, Fist. I have my reasons.

Lobotomy and perhaps Cranial Extraction come to mind. Lobotomy is essetially Coercion, especially because of the lack of basic lands.
