So I'm looking at this as my entry point into legacy (moving here from modern) and have some questions:

-In modern, I've played a BW version of D&T to a fair amount of success. Would something like that be viable here? What kind of color splashes have you guys seen/played? And mostly, Why aren't color splashes more common in this deck?

-Leonin Arbiter and Aven Mindcensor do some real work in modern. I understand that we're not forced to play Path to Exile or Ghost Quarter here, but stopping them from fetching/tutoring still seems really good. Do these really not warrant a place here?

-Karakas is going to be the biggest barrier to entry for me with this deck. Do I play the deck with Plains in it's place for now or could other utility lands fill the gap better?

I've been eyeballing Legacy for a while and EMA is finally making me bite the bullet. I'm torn between a few different decks right now and not sure which way to go. Any input would be appreciated.

-LED Dredge. The deck looks super fun to play! Watching videos of this deck just feels like what I want to do in Magic. But I do want something competitively viable in most metas and it looks so easy to hate out. And to add on to that, the price of LEDs just shot up. I know it's prolly still cheaper than most legacy decks, but it's hard for me to spend that much on a single card. It's easier for me to wrap my head around a deck with 12 $50 cards than it is 4 $150 cards. Any chance LED could start coming back down?

-Legacy Eldrazi! I loved the look of MUD when I first saw it and the Eldrazi menace looks just as enticing. It's easy for me to get the Eldrazi creatures for it with all the practice I'm doing for GP DC and I feel like Eye of Ugin will drop in price in April. City of Traitors is on the reserve list, but I did manage to order some on TCGPlayer before the price started to rise. (Whether or not they'll ship is another issue). My main concerns here are 1) I don't know if the viability of the deck is proven, 2) I know bans don't happen as often in Legacy, but could this somehow warrant one in the future?, and 3) If 1 and 2 are clear, then it's just finding a tuned list. A lot of the shell is already agreed upon, but even then I see people splashing Green, White, and/or, Blue.

    - Death & Taxes. I already have a good number of the cards for this, but none of the super expensive ones. No Karakas/Port/Wastelands are in my current inventory. But the Vials and most of the creatures are. I also have a Jitte and since I'll be attending a couple GP's this year, I'd feel real nice having a promo playset of Mystic to go with my single GP Batterskull. My concerns here are 1) Is this a good deck for a newbie to legacy? It seems like it's a mostly reactive deck, and while that's not necessarily a problem, it means you have to know the meta just as much (if not moreso) than your own deck., 2) I know none of the cards are on the reserve list, and that's huge, but if Karakas and/or Port aren't reprinted, then I'm unsure if I could afford this and I have a feeling it's not very viable without those.

Side question about D&T: Would a White/Black variant have any merit? I also have bobs and a playset of Marsh Flats. Is there anything to make with that here or nah?

-Any other decks that I should look into? As you can see from my second two decks, I love mana denial plans and forcing my opponents to play fair while I smash through with stuff. Avoiding Dual Lands is also a big deal for me, though some still seem in the realm of affordability.

I'm okay waiting to see what happens with EMA, but I feel prices are only going to keep rising and it's hard to decide which deck to invest in. I'm about to get around $600 out of my trade binder that I'm okay recycling into a legacy deck. Do I buy some singles and then try to snag a box of EMA? (Though, I'll still prolly try for a box of that. I just know it's gonna be fun to draft)

So i decided to pick up this deck tonight and went 2-1 beating storm, ad nauseam and lossing to affinity.
This is the list i want to play once oath becomes legal:

I maxed out on caves of koilos because with eldrazi displacer it is essentially a tri-land. I feel like tec edge and GQ aren't enough since we often want to sac them.

Is stony silence correct in the sideboard, despite turning off vial? Am i supposed to cut the vial when i side in stony? The issue hasn't come up but just wondering...

Loving the look of your list! I'd replace one Caves of Koilos with an Isolated Chapel, and one with a Fetid Heath. I think that'd be enough colorless sources for Displacer.

As for Stony Silence with Aether Vial, I tried using both at the same time tonight and it screwed me over. I only have tonight's experience to speak from, but I'd say it's worth siding out when we bring in Stony Silence.

Just took the deck from this article to Thursday night modern and went 3-1. I played and beat RG Tron, Naya Zoo/Burn (Nacatl Burn?), and Naya Burn. Lost against UR Delver (I really don't have enough experience in this match-up. I was not ready for that deck.)

The biggest take-away I have from the deck is that Tidehollow Sculler is an underperformer, but Wasteland Strangler is an MVP.

"Flickerwisp the opponent's land, vial in Strangler, send their land to the graveyard and kill a dude" happened several times tonight. Sometimes I put the -3/-3 on the Strangler itself when they didn't have creatures, just to Stone Rain them.

Scytheclaw is definitely UG if Ezuri is the commander.

"In this case, the design team ... also created a cycle of cards—one for each deck—that would be mechanically tied to that plane as well."

Did they say if there is any chance of these being foil?

Edit: Got beaten to the answer- Twice.

My prediction for the next 20 (for the winter set) Are the next 5 duals for the BFZ cycle, the 5 Time Spiral duals, and 10 manland duals (5 of which will be new)

I too am trying to transition from Modern to Legacy, but I'm trying to figure out what deck to go with. I don't have a huge budget but I can definitely get pieces over time. I have a friend who's doing well with Jund but that's way too expensive for me. Can someone recommend me a competitive playable deck that can be made for around 300$ to start? One that isn't burn? I've been looking at Slivers, D&T, and MUD since those both look fun to me, but idk about the price or how competitive those really are.

I have some staples to start out with too. I've got Vials, Thalias, and playsets of all RWB fetches and some other stuff I can't think of off the top of my head. Any ideas?

Hey -spooky-, I was looking at putting together "A Tribe Called Quest." I was wondering if you could point me to any variations/results/threads on this deck? Or if you could tell me if it's competitive at least? I know Stoneblade is a big deck, but I don't have the budget for it. If anyone else can help me out, I'd love to hear from you.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I checked out UW Tron and I think that might actually be doable with my budget! I put one of the decklists into TCG Player real quick and with a quick adjustment (Taking out 4 Celestial Colonnade- and I may even be able to trade for those), it came out to $245 before shipping!! I need to make sure that's a deck I want to play first, but at a glance it looks right up my alley! I'll be giving any Budget Boggle decks a look too! Thanks for the recommendations!
