I could see red green monsters splashing for him in the sideboard against the mirror I suppose, those decks play mostly with polukranos, cryatid and Xenagos anyhow. really not very impressive but the punishing effect is brutal.
If anyone has been to the big prereleases in the Syracuse NY area, you would probably would have remembered the dice roll game. its a dollar to roll six D6's. if you rolled an extremely low or high number you would win something good. back then my friend won a Vindicate and I got a volcanic Island (I sorely wish I still had that card). if you rolled all ones you would get a free box of the new set when it came out. if you rolled a middle number you would get something out of the dollar bin, you always won something and if you paid $10 you would get 2 free rolls. it was loads of fun.
This... looks interesting, again potential free stuff opportunity, can't complain about that, better than the Ugins fate packs. the real thing here is those sexy looking dice!
I went 3-1 with abzan, I got chewed up by a nasty temur deck that had two avalanche tuskers. the cards that were really getting the work done were guardians of arashin, the abzan three color guy with lifelink, and sultai scavenger. the scavenger was never difficult to cast because if you are trading creatures early game you can get him out turn four no problem. if you are casting more spells early game you can drop them even faster, same goes to hooting mandrills, sultai is actually better than it looks.
outlast was ok but it was not as good as I thought, will try to go with jeskai or sultai next flight.
this is a tricky pack because of all the good commons, I voted burn away but mystic of the hidden way seems like great pick too considering it can be a threat even if you are stuck with only three land. there is better more common removal than burn away too.
Knuckles would be the pick for me.
second choice murderous cut for sure but I pick knuckles because first of all, depending how late in the game you are, knuckle blade trumps murderous cut. second of all, he is gonna be a dude your opponent will have to worry about the whole game if you get him earlier. even if you don't play temur your opponents will be one bomb less (and you still have a Knuckleblade)

the removal in here is good but we are looking to make a deck that can get good value out of every card. this card makes your guys bigger and makes chump blockers, and he is super cheap without already putting you into a specific khan. removal can save you a game but subtle bombs put on pressure.
now that is how you make dumb fatties scary! I havn't been this excited about a green fatty since I saw Enormous baloth when I first started. I wanna try him in standard, funny that Crackling doom will still often wreak this guy though.
what separates this card from the rest of the evacuation type sweepers is that if you net a significant number of creatures, like 3 or 4. you also prevent them from drawing into anything that could mess with your board like removal. and even if they are tempted to search thier library for anything, they will lose their creatures for good after they shuffle.
Garruk has officially reached Uncle Istivan level of psycho. its interesting to see all the original walkers in this set, except one of them has become bent on killing the others.
How was your conspiracy drafts?
My store charged $14 a draft. there was no prize support but everyone got a booster of their choice (other than conspiracy). so basically everyone entered a really noncompetitive draft in which mostly everyone gets some decent cards and has a fun time. it was really great actually. it was actually the funnest game of magic I have had in a long time.
if there is anything strategy-wise to consider for the draft it is to stock up on multiple copies of 10th to 13th pick cards and then make them silly using whatever conspiracies you can scoop up. I managed to snag 3 Grenzo's Cutthroats, 2 muzzio's preparations, and advantageous proclamation to make consistent turn 2 3/3 first striker that grew. I also used Magus of the Mirror and immediate action to swing the game in my favor.
