    commanders without converted mana cost
What? How would that be done? An "oloro-like" continious effect while in the command zone as they could not be casted? To make a cicle of those would mean terrible balancing issues.

it was half-joke half-serious, as it feels a bit, that wizards are doing thingsa just for the sake of it.
look at previous commander products for example.
it is not that bad, there just seems to be a tendency to force new things, instead of bringing back old, but working good stuff.
for example, the new partner mechanic is nice, but you end up with 2 weak commanders, and sometimes the decks they are in seem completely out of place (for example Bronson in the grixis-white deck)

yeah. angel to the board is super weird to me cause i often use it g1 to save the game, and board it out (except vs infect)

the most notable thing about andrews list to me (is he on this forum? i know ive seen him on SCG before) is the 1 dismember... id be curious to hear about that from him and how he feels after the tournament.

other BIG note. dredge list winning another tournament is the one with gargantadon and bridge from below. i think that list is easier for us to deal with. cause less conflagrate = more angel wins.

kind of need angel for the dredge match up. its saved my life a few times this week when i went up against dredge matches. they don't have enough narcomeda to pose a threat to angel, so flying over for the win is ez.

they don't disrupt our tron lands which is a plus.

navigating game 1 you need to counter certain dig spells in order to slow them down. so remand/condascend wisely.

turn 4 aetherize usually puts them in a hurt. but it also loads up there hand for a big conflagrate, so you gotta be caseful when doing a mass bounce of there ghasts and amalgams.
Ugin is also K.O. if you land him the turn after they set all of there amalgams up.

Funny thing is, I play dredge as my other modern deck. It's true that narcomoebas don't pose a huge threat, but you should watch out for hardcasted stinkweed imp. In terms of counter, counter the earliest spells possible, no matter what it is. Our turn 1 enabler is huge, turn 2-3 life from the loam is huge too, after that enablers are more icing on the cake. Don't be conservative with counter spells against dredge at all cuz you won't get many chances to use them. Although saving something for turn 4 conglagrate might be good, especially if u have an angel out.

As I analyzed the match up turn 2 chalice of the void on 1 also messes dredge up hard. shuts off faithless looting insolent Neonate flash backed conflagrate lightning axe. thats about 50% or more of the decks key spells for generating speed.

in blue tron tormod's crypt is the better gravehate to use since we pack academy ruins.

careful, Conflagrate has CMC of 1+2X (x= discared cards) when flashed back - it does not matter HOW the cost was paid (in this case without mana) - see this thread: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-rulings/magic-rulings-archives/256150-kaervek-and-conflagrate-flashbacked

The way that card is phrased is super janky to me. It's like it's saying "exile all other spells" as in, everything on the board that is a spell, and counter everything on the stack, making it the ultimate boardwipe card at instant speed that counters everything on the stack.

I kind of wish it said, instead "Counter all other spells and abilities currently on the stack. If a spell was countered in this way, exile it instead of putting it in it's owner's graveyard." or something.

    it has the correct wording.
nothing, that is on a board any given time is a spell, they are permanents.
spell exist ONLY on the stack

also there is a difference between "Counter target spell ... exile it if it would be put into owner's graveyard" and "Exile target spell", as the latter can counter Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and say Loxodon Smiter, for 99% of the cards, the end results is the same, but one of the strictly exiles, while the other has a replacement effect.
also don't forget Boseiju, Who Shelters All and cards such as Sphinx of the Final Word
it boils down to the same difference between Unsubstantiate and Remand

it seems, that lantern control is picking up steam lately.
searching this thread i saw that a few people played against it and won the matches.
i just wanted to ask, what do you guys think about this matchup?
i'm playing no talismans and 2x mainboard Chalice of the Void and i think with all the cheap counterspells and bounce spells, we have a really favored matchup even if they make us discard away the chalice.
otherwise i think chalice on 1 just completely wrecks them
