Mise well put up my states results. In Ohio, I played UBw Mannequin/Kelpie.
1- Reanimator w/ Wrath. Win 2-0
2- Realm Razer with Garruk, Lose 1-2
3- The Mirror? What?? I am particularly not very good at magic, and am more amazed at the fact I was playing the mirror, than trying to play against the mirror. ~10 card difference between main and side. Cool guy. Lose 0-2
4- Naya aggro. Some little dude, though young, he was playing around Cryptic like a champ in game three in order to stick his Manabarbs. Ouch. But I took 6 to cast Oona and "got there." Win 2-1.
5- Mono red Demigod, quick 2 games, though I Wrathed a couple of times, and countered some spells. Lose 0-2.
6- Doran. He played birds, Doran, and I searched for Wrath with Mulldrifter(s). Stick Wrath, then Game 2. I see turn 2 thorn of amethyst, then a turn 4 thorn, Those with either 1 or 2 Fulminator Mages was pretty good for him. Game three looked more like Game 1 except I Negated his turn 2 Thorn. Win 2-1.
7- 5cc/cruelcontrol/whatever. I feel so bad for this guy as he got insane mana problems game 1, but the game lasted around 20 minutes because my deck doesnt do much, and he finally got un-screwed around turn 10. Game 2 was pretty good for him this time around, even though blowing a cycled resounding thunder to kill a mannequin-ed Shriekmaw. I succumb to drifter beats. Game 3 I end up sticking a River Kelpie and riding the card advantage to the win. Win 2-1.
8-Elementals- This guy has Fulminator Mage and Reveillark maindeck, along with the harbinger. Also Smokebraider to go turbo. I lose 2-0.
9- No show guy.
Awesome, I win my last round to go 5-4. I probably should have dropped in order to preserve the rating, but I play magic for fun.
I recently heard about some sleeves that were rough on the back (like sand paper kind of) as opposed to smooth. Supposedly they don't wear much, which is the one problem i have with KMC, Dragon Shield, and all similar sleeves. Eventually they get all scratched up and you need new ones.
I think they're made by ultra pro, anyone know where to get a pack?
This is a post from this thread from a while back:
Has anyone noticed that the new regular sleeves from ultra pro have changed? They are still called 'raven black' and all that, but they have a more paper-like rough structure. What I like about these is that they don't mark as quickly as the old ones. Surely they still suffer from bent corners if you dont shuffle carefully, but they get less scratches and blotches on them. Very nice for repeated tournament use.
These may be the sleeves you are looking for. The UP sleeves I've used recently(standard solid color ones) have had this rough structure to them as well.
Fire up the tournament locator on the DCI's website, then search for Legacy(1.5) or Vintage(Type 1) tournaments in your area.
Many times, Eternal format tournaments, mostly Vintage, allow a number of proxies, and thus cannot be sanctioned, not showing up in the dci's tournament locator. Your best bet for those is to check Vintage and Legacy discussion forums to find that info.
Haven't seen any of this guy's great material lately, but I also feel Holy Day is an auto 4-of in each white deck.:teach:
I'm surprised this topic is in humor when this is clearly magic strategy from a well-rounded Magic player.
It was many, many months ago, but I got absolutely annihilated round 1 at States by a Faerie Counterbalance deck. He was running Faerie Harbinger to grab cards for Counterbalance. I think it was mostly blue(It had Wrath of God, and Momentary Blink to reset the Harbinger though), but it was very effective. A report and decklist from the guy I played.
Counterbalance certainly is rogue for standard, and I commend you for trying it out.
If you go GU, you could use Mystic Snake, and other GU tempo cards to your advantage. Oh yeah, Tarmogoyf too.:o
Good luck.
I've been saying for a long time now that I wanted Wall of Roots in the new frame.
I finally get it.:o
I just wish we had 5 Fridays that month so I could win more of them/have more in circulation.
I play that card like it's going out of style.;)
212.6a Playing a land card is a special action (see 408.2d). To play a land card, the player simply puts it into play. The land card doesn't go on the stack, and is never a spell, so players can't respond to it with instants or activated abilities.
The latest one on that good ol' auction site from ca_chandler - really like this one...his island is already up to a pretty decent price too: USD$26.00 last time I checked

Good job in trying, Glenn.

When the terror resolves, the game checks to see if its target is legal, and it is not, since your Pestermite can't be targeted.
