I'm looking to enter this format, I've never played modern competitively before, and I really want to start
Playstyle: I would love to make any deck that will help me get better at this game (no autopilot) and I definitely want a deck that interacts with the opponent and doesn't make them hate me (mostly play with people at school), no Combo/Burn/Infect. Besides that I am open
How Competitive: Looking for a tier 2 deck (understand it may need to be a little weaker because budget).
No preference on color
No staples owned
Budget is about $300
I would prefer if a good amount of the money is spent on modern staples that I would be able to use in other decks, and really don't want fetchlands. I would be very happy if the deck ran Thoughtseize, I've been looking for an excuse to pick some up
I appreciate any help I can get!
Storm? Pyromancer ascension is super cheap probably 200, without fetchlands

Against combo your right geist is bad and it's 50% of what's out there. I only advocate geist for aggro. Tap down or remove threats and swing just works.
I don't buy into geist being bad against aggro, use gigadrowse, cryptic, vapor snag, azorius charm to clear the way. You'll be hitting for 6 + bolt twice and likely finishing people off in turn 5.
Against affinity, Sundering growth their blocker and populate an extra 4/4 for turn 5, or block something big.
So I've been running 4 in my bogle deck for sometime now and works phenomenally.
Due to the legend rule, this card basically acts like a fetchland allowing me to tap the first flagstone before i sac it, then search for a temple garden and have a second flagstones ready.
Also makes people playing liliana's fist ability cringe when I benefit from discarding
Hey guys, has anyone used chalice of life// chalice of death? I frequently use this card in multiplayer games but not sure how it works in a more competitive environment.
I don't think traft will go up anymore. Value will stay between 20-25. Thing about this card is its just so good, it will spike and drop as it gets played more or less.
So that's not to say it won't ever make it back up to 30 like it was once but it's unlikely.
Hey thanks for the quick reply, sorry the reason I don't have a list is because I'm on my phone, takes forever to write up anything
For the boros charm I'm actually interested in the indestructible part mode more...
I maindeck either geist or restoration angel and often run into a situation where I'd be trading 1 for 1 in a deck that already had very little creature to spare, this could help to save them?
It could save a collonade from being destroyed, or pull 4 damage out. I dunno seems good but I haven't had a chance to see yet.
Hey all! I have two open slots in my fairly typical uwr control deck. I'm thinking of using azorius charm or I'm actually considering boros charm for those spots, does anyone have any experience using either of those two?
@jtelgan
So, without running fetch lands what always used to happen to me is that I'd simply have the wrong pain land in play and 50% of the time I'd be choosing not to untapped it. I'd bump up the glacial fortress and sulfur falls to 4 each. Drop the basic plains and mountains. At least you not taking a life hit for potentially the wrong lands

Also consider flagstones of trokair and sun petal grove,.
