Pelakka Wurm? Hm...that's actually really interesting. Even having those in the main instead of the side would be good; because if you draw them in your opening hand, theoretically you could hard-cast them as early as turn 5. Maybe some budget build could work that out. Still, good SB choice.
Seems to me that Deprive is a counter worth having in the main as well. Great interaction with not only Khalni Garden, but also Halimar Depths. Counter, bouncing the garden, then getting extra poly fodder the next turn.
Also, I think either Foresee or Crystal Ball will be worth trying at least 2-3 of in main. Scry will be very helpful for making sure we don't draw any of our would-be targets.
Seriously guys, Autumn's Veil. In a more control style, by turn 7 you'll definitely have enough tokens to get the 2 - 4 guys you may be running. And with the scry stuff now, you may see fatties on the top of the deck, and you can just send them right to the bottom. Also we have the same options for counters as any other deck that plays blue.
I think a deck with Mass Polymorph can work, and will take people by surprise. All in good time.
So you'll end up splashing green or white for enchantment hate...big deal.
Seriously, this seems like a terrible card to play against initially, but really it won't be so bad once your SB is adapted to it. Personally, I think RDW will persevere, and actually still be a good deck despite all the love white has been getting. I mean, Red leyline? Combust? Hell, I may change to playing RDW with a green splash.
Well...sure am glad that I kept my copies from Lorwyn. Looks like they're pushing knights and elves.
Yeah, new art would've been nice, but the fact that this powerhouse of a lord is back is cool enought in and of itself. Is this possibly a sign of more elves
out of SoM? Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Based on the answer in the last post, it may be that he died a long time ago. In a set where we're returning to Mirrodin, it would almost be odd to see him there. We may see another type of artifact from him, only senza affinity. (at least I hope)
Der Untergang. I have to say, it was a very good film, really analyzing the way that Hitler not only ran things, but also how he and his troops/assistants acted. Since it's told through the actions of his last secretary, it's almost a more sympathetic view of how the events occurred. I recommend it.
Toy Story 3 all the way!! I'd be happy to explain why:
First of all, this was OUR movie trilogy. By our trilogy I mean the kids who were there when the first Toy Story came out, and had been waiting ever since the second toy story for the third one to come out. After a few years, we gave up on it. Now, they brought it back (with the setting following as if the movie progressed in real time) and didn't disappoint. The three movies were linked perfectly. On to why I like the movie:
The darkness of the film almost made it a film that was more for adults than kids. A few examples: when Lotso talks about how they're all just junk - his dialogue is incredibly harsh, and probably would make me cry with fear if I was a young kid. Then, the incinerator scene was actually terrifying, and the actions of the toys almost convinced me that they were actually going to burn.
As well, the sadness was through the roof, mainly because of how nostalgic it was. Sure, Up and even Wall-E had a lot of sadness, but the idea of Andy finally leaving and the toys rarely, if ever, seeing him again is just a tear-jerker. His last speech to Bonnie made almost everyone around me start sniffling, even crying loudly, because of how heart-felt it was.
And of course, as Pixar does, they had the perfect blend of their three best characteristics: humor, drama, and dark-edge. Some of the scenes were so funny that the whole audience would be in an uproar. Even the humor that was for little kids still had some of the other adults laughing. Overall, it's definitely a movie I would see multiple times again, and plan to show the trilogy to my kids someday. In all honesty though, they shouldn't make another one. The series ended perfectly, and anything else would be a straight-to-dvd piece of crap.
So all in all, Toy Story 3 is the best of all of them. To be fair though, the other good ones are the other two Toy Stories and Up. The rest are good in their right, but these last ones have been fantastic.
Take me out to the ballgame is the best, definitely, being a baseball player for 10 years. Never really get tired of it. The Entertainer is just awesome too. It definitely helped me realize what a great composer Joplin was.
I don't know what everyone's talking about with this Wii hate. Maybe it's because I'm a devout nintendo fan, but I love mine. Metroid, Mario, Zelda...some of the best game series ever! But I digress...
As for the poll, shouldn't it be magic in general, not just standard? If I had 400 dollars, I'd build a good Legacy deck and never really have to worry about buying every again, except for occasionally when a set comes out with a card that almost redefines legacy. If it had to be used on Standard, I'd just build whatever deck is good when a new block starts, as opposed to when the third set in the block rolls around.
So yeah, since I have my good old nintendo stuff already, I'd buy cards.
um yeah. i understand how the combo works. i was asking how is hypergenesis (the deck not the card) warping extended.
It's an easily abuse-able combo, really. If you can get Spirit guides with a land cascading into hypergenesis, with akroma's memorial and a couple of creatures, you just won. It's not as widely played, but is very easy to break.
Perhaps it wasn't format warping, but with the rotation of three blocks, Hypergenesis would be one of the few remaining decks, and would probably be propelled to one of the dominant decks.
can somebody tell me what hypergenesis was doing that got it hit with the ban hammer?
Ever play with cards like Violent Outburst? It let's you play Hypergenesis for free, thus letting you put in massive amounts of big, game winning creatures.
Anyways, these changes are pretty huge! Well, I'm guessing now that it'll be Zoo and Cascadeshift reigning supreme for a while.
Second, drop the Piranha Marshes out. They should be swapped for the Lavaclaw Reaches. Also, definitely consider Mind Sludge since you're running more swamps than mountains.
Third, you left out Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek!! They are arguably the two best discard spells in Standard currently due to the curve they allow you to have. They should go in instead of Contaminated Ground and Mind Rot.
That'll at least get you off to a better start. Once M11 rolls around, this will be quite a bit better. Until then, though, we shall wait.

I dunno, could be fun. Otherwise, the decks mentioned above (5CC, faeries, Doran rock, all that stuff) will be the optimal decks to run.
