The Classic Art Token Kickstarter (www.classicarttokens.com) hit a big milestone today, reaching $50,000 in funding within a week of launch.
To say the response has been overwhelming is an understatement.
We've hit 11 Stretch Goals and there is still plenty of time to reach an entirely new level of Stretch Goals than those listed on the project page.
If you haven't taken a look at the project, please do, the full set has nearly doubled in size and we added an entirely new Commander token collection.
I have some great tokens planned if we can continue to hit the Stretch Goals and I can't wait to share them with you once we do.
I want to introduce you to the Classic Art Token Project. The project has been a year in the making and I'm finally ready to share it with the MTG Salvation community.
Here are the basics of the project:
The project will be launching on Kickstarter on Feb 2, 2016.
The project will include:
48 Tokens (Growing up to 108+ with Stretch Goals)
5 Playmat designs (Growing up to 9+ with Stretch Goals)
Here is a small selection of tokens from the full set. If you like the tokens, make sure to back the spread the word. The more support the project receives, the more tokens I can include.
Yeah, you are drafting the packs so the first would likely get the Alpha pack, then Beta, Unlimited, Portal Three Kingdoms, etc.
Everything would likely be double sleeved with perfect fits. I would almost be tempted to just keep the Alpha pack sealed and not play with it. Worth more that way unless you get really lucky.
The event list for Gen Con 2013 was just posted and something caught my eye. There will be a 20th Anniversary Magic draft for winner of one of 8 qualifying tournaments at Gen Con this year.
The description of the the event:
Players draft packs from throughout Magic's 20-year history! Face off with cards from Alpha through Magic 2013. The winner gets a booster pack of every set ever produced!
You must win one of 8 qualifier events throughout the weekend to qualify. 80 different packs from Magic's entire history will be laid out at the start of the event. Players will take turns selecting a pack each until all packs have been taken. These packs will constitute their Sealed Deck pool for the event. After 3 single-elimination rounds, the last remaining player will win a set of 80 packs, each from a different set of Magic going all the way back to the very beginning!
So, every pack in existence (barring Unhinged/Unglued I would assume).
Assuming you keep what you draft, what would the pick order be?
Summer was a set that was produced, right? If only.
There is a new challenge over at www.originalmagicart.com where the most prolific artists from Gatecrash are being pitted against each other to see who illustrated the most powerful set of cards.
Artist profiles were just posted and decklists should be coming out next week.
Daniel Ljuggren looks to be the front runner with a deck full of all 5 keyrunes, but Steve Prescott has a nice curve.
Who do you think has the best pool? How would you build the decks?
There has been communication between the owner and myself confirming that these were purchased at a time when Mark was being represented by the gallery that eventually ripped him off. There has also been confirmation by Mark that is in the process of being verified through separate sources.
This makes the status of the remaining pieces even more in question as the owner of the old gallery is still unable to be contacted.
Luckily at least now we know that some of them have found a good home and are being appropriately appreciated.
The current plan is to have one entry per card with each unique art being a section on the page.
On further thought it probably makes sense to just break the basic lands into their own sub section since you are correct that there are likely 150+ different arts for each land type.
Other than basic land, I don't see the need to break it out.

Those are the primary non-ebay destinations in my experience.
It is a booster pack draft that you make a sealed deck out of. You choose the packs in a rochester draft format.
I do wonder how they are going to select pick order as each player will have won a tournament to gain entry to the event.

Did they change the cube list at some point? I didn't see Winter Orb listed there.
Details and a picture of the art here.

The Hunt for Karn
I know I've faced the same sort of problems when going after Original art though most of them haven't been as eventful as this story.
It's a great history from a collector and player perspective.
Some of the other collections there are quite impressive as well.
There was just a good collection of Artist Proofs posted there as well.
Also an interview with the winner of the auction for the new Black Lotus art.
This makes the status of the remaining pieces even more in question as the owner of the old gallery is still unable to be contacted.

A few of them were just uncovered in a gallery posted on www.originalmagicart.com
You can check them out here.
These have been confirmed as legit purchases with Mark.
Also in the collection was this little gem:
We have a new domain for the site www.originalmagicart.com so make sure to stop by and take a look at the changes.
I will be at Gen Con to promote the site and get some more editors on board as well as gathering goodies for giveaways to contributors to the site.
Stay tuned! Exciting things incoming!

Thanks for the idea!
