Hey guys this is what I'm running right now. Having a lot of success with my casual games I play amongst friends, unfortunately my LGS only hosts a modern tournament once every month so I can't get much *competitive* testing in. There is an event coming up this next Friday though and this is the list I think I will be running. I plan on taking notes in between games. My meta (that I am sure of) consists of: Abzan, Twin, Burn, Affinity, Nobo Tron, Grixis Tasi-Delver, Jeksai Mentor and of course a few homebrew decks. I know our deck is incredibly powerful but it all relies in our gameplan against specific decks and to be honest I'm a little clueless when it comes to actually sideboarding for games. I'm not a fan of the BB path to much, but I would test it if I could get them.
Looking for any advice on MB or SB, I'm just coming back to Magic after a couple month hiatus and yaknow... I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was.
It really depends on where and how you planning on playing the deck, I think you would have a really hard time making a viable Modern or Legacy mono colour cloud deck because the card just isn't that great in a deck without being loaded with powerful junk cards. If you're just planning on playing Casual though you could totally make a sweet Mono Colour Death Cloud deck. If you're playing it in a 1v1 setting load up on the "Thoughtseize" effects and definitely some kill spells. Some options are Fast Mana rituals like Dark Ritual, Culling the Weak and Cabal Rituals. Or if your playgroup allows you could throw some Sol Rings in there to serious bring up the competitive level. Planeswalker's would also be your friend here (Liliana of the Veil being most obvious.) In a more casual setting I think you could run Liliana of the Dark Realms to set up for that massive cloud. Another idea would be do go a mono-black devotion route with recurable creatures like Bloodghast / Geralf's Messenger and good devotion boosting enchantments to hit the huge Cloud off a nykthos. I also really like the cards The Rack and Shrieking Affliction, you could go for just a straight mono-b control with a sweet cloud wincon.
There is totally a reason to keep it together. My playgroup always keeps our sealed decks to play again later. The cards are cheap, if you like it keep it together
Personally I love Windbrisk Heights. It allows for blowouts flipping a planeswalker or anthem.
With 4 Fetches, 4 Shocks and 4 isolated chapels I have no problems with my manabase having it come in tapped. I must say it can be frustrating when you dig past a card you need and you can't activate it,
It really boils down to a metagame call I think, Sorin is SO powerful against burn and has really saved me so many times. Liliana is undeniably a powerful card, she also demolishes Geists . Right now I'm at 2 Lilianas & 3 Sorin, seems like a good number, they're almost always powerful.
I personally cut down to 1 Zealous persecution MD and 2 SB because I don't see it much in my meta. It's not THAT good in my opinion when it can't take out any of your opponents creatures as well. I'm also not a fan of Tidehollow Sculler personally, I think Liliana is really what you need.
hey was about to make my first post here about the deck I just finished building that I was going to take to a GP in February, but you know, our heart was torn out.
