I won a draft yesterday and got a free box and i bought another box. i like the set and it has up side compaired to 8th. i wish some of the art would not have change and birds and city in their but their coming back soon so in time.
when ever a set comes out i always buy one box to get a pitcher of how the set is. my friends to the same and it gives you a up close look at most of the cards in the set. so i would do it. SoK and BoK where bad boxes. 5 jittes and 3 needles but nothing outside of those.

when buying cards you always need to look at the big pitcher. what else and were else can you use the cards for and in. most of kami as a whole block is like this. few cards will be usable out side of standard. 4 cards kock, needle, jitte and extraction. but if you like standard i would buy all thoses cards because they are good in that format.
the real answer is 3 pithing needles, that all you need from this good aful set. the hands are good but out site of standard as most of the cards on the list above will never be seen in legacy, extended or Ty1. so its a dead by. but Kagemaro may be a sb card will needle for stuff like r/g beast or goblins, but he's slow so i'll leave that up to you.
needle is the only realy playable cards in that set. all you need is three, 4 is to much.
mirrodin broken. mirrodin is less cards then kami. troll, TnN, ravager and clamp. kami had Kock, needle, jitte and extration. 8th has birds, and wrath.
as state many times since odyssey left standard has sucked and will suck. i will never stand aside any of the last 4 sets because they have wasted by time and money. but R&D was going for something new hear and it sucked more then a pornstar does.
cant wait till sept because then again it starts all over again and we can see if the next set is anything good. witch from the reports is looking ok. but nothing great.
flavor is all about ZVI. mirrodin sucked because they tryed to hard to make another artifact cycle like antiq's and the urza's block but did a piss poor job of it and it had not flavor.
Kmai brought new cards, game play and different ideas to the games. rend flesh may be one of the top5 best creature removal in extened and legacy because kock(kokusho) is the only spirit played, and you don't touch that.
what i look for in a set is new ideas and cards. i do think that every core set needs to repirt 30 cards never repirit in the last 3 years. rancor anyone, replenish replenish, lift the curse on the scroll. and every set needs to have some cards that are over powered, because it's fun to talk and ***** about. oh lin sivvi is to strong, ravager to good, skullclamp has to be stoped. over powerment is always a good thing to have.
i think someone once said myojin was over powered becaue he could play him turn 8, not 9. we need a cards in the next set that read this.

that would be great in the new set but will be banned the secound its printed and wroth about 30 bucks. sstuff like that is what magic needs. cards that needed to be banned befor any one can shuffle the thing.
Mnay support cards will be needed as well. kock, needle and jitte are suppot cards because they rarly win games them selfs. so more stuff like that.
Kami may be the best set for casual play because of cards like rend flesh, witch in standard is not the great because spirit is number the ounomono creature type, but against a friends fun dragon deck, it kills.
TnN is not casual, never is aggro green.
Every block has "flavor". It may not be in standard, but it's in another block. mostly casual for kami.
Very few cards will change the out look of the game. but the kock(kokusho), jitte, exration and needle are showing up in by beloved legacy and extended formats and will have impacts of what SB choices to make and what deck to run.
The new block is not secert when it comes to the theme. Color, lost of color and is called invasion II by my peeps. but rumors about the set after that are getting out and it being a weenie set like MMask was. Thats just rumor and nothing more until i see it with my own eye.
Kami has it's issues but whar block didnt. what set didn't have flavor in once sence or another. Kami is not different that tempest or ice age because it brought something new to the stage. As will the sets after that, and that my friends if flavor in the basket.
as of winning is fun. as a tourny player thats the only way. if you loose you get pissed, make a sence sometimes and people loose respect for you and that not fun. but nether is killing you opponit will dual piledriver by turn 3.
if the game is fun and a head to head match then it's fun. but winning my large margins is not and looseing the same way is not.
Most of you guys might not have been playing competive back when Tempest and Urza's were standard, it was bad. The decks broke both walits and brains because unlike now were maybe 5 to 10 decks can win, it was more like 50 different decks could win. 5 verson's of tinker, replenish made more ways then eggs. stompy green going small, bug or enchant. combo was everywhere and it didn'tcame not cheap. My first deck was a tinker deck that was over $400, i was 14 when that was going down.
but sence urza's left wizards has been dumbing down standard so it doesn't become like it us to be, chaos.
Mmask was ok. invasion was nice with color and control. odyssey was fun with tog and madness. onslaught was not that great but better then mirrodin, witch just sucked. Kami is much like Mask. A so-so block with few cards but much more that will never gain shuffle damage.
It's the cycle of standard. The next few blocks will be great because it's on the lines of invasion II. Ninth brings both game to standard and extended.
the main reason why people think it sucks and most blocks in the past few years is because it the age group that went threw tempest, urza's, MMask and invasion. but you ask players who played with onslaught, mirrodin and the present kami they think it's ok. that's all it is.
while temp and urza's where great, mirrodin and kami just suck. so look forward to the future and just look at the good cards of kami and not the crapping cards.
