I am egoistic, self-centered and will do anything to win, which I suppose should place me clearly and undeniably in BLACK. But my desire to win also places me in blue (where you pay one to draw two cards), in red (where you sack an artifact to deal 5 damage) and in brown (sack the board to have you loose).
wanted to introduce myself around here. My name is Calvin and I am 23 from Malta. My birthday is tomorrow meaning that I should probable have said that I am 24. But anyway, no way I am doing that. I have been following mtgsalvation over these past months mostly to get a look at the spoilers (Great work for Ravnica Rancored Elf and others!!).
I have been playing Magic for the past two years and, well, that is my hobby. I am a competitive player and my favourite deck was Rav Affinity - I was almost going to cry when Skullclamp was banned a couple of weeks before the grinders in Malta (that meant going into the tourney with an untested deck - I still did well though winning the grinders). My high point in my Magic 'career' was qualifying for PT London where I failed to win 1 game
I hope to have the opportunity to get to know others in the fora and if there is anyone else from Malta please message me.
Oh was about to forget - my nick comes from the name of the team I play with. Everyone hail Good&Evil and boo Team Superman!!
I am from Malta but our team is not amongst the elite of world football. In this world cup I'll be supporting Holland who I am sure will win given one of the best track records in the qualification rounds.
I think you should also consider the fact that a box of boosters allows you better to carry out a draft. I know that you have mentioned your desire to rip the boosters/packs but if you give it a go you will come to love drafting. It's the only point where you get to use all the less good commons (except for something like Chimney Imp).
I am thinking about sleeving the chap I open at the prerelease and throwing him into my deck. 4 mana 0/9 Human Pathetic - Whenever target opponent looks at Antonino Lord of PT's you may laugh out hard in the face of him/her. Play this ability only once per turn. Pity this isn't onslaught as I would have been able to play him as a morph.
It's ridiculous how what was building up as a really interesting set, with lots of chase cards (BOPs, 4 Rav duals and some fine cards) will get to be marred by em ... these things. Imagine ripping a Tourney pack and finding Antonino gleaming there at you! Heavens no, show me my birds. These things really make you not want to make it to the top levels at the PT's.
I need some help - when I tried to install the files as indicated I got the following error - Current grid must be MASTER-like type. Anyone has any ideas on what I should do to get this patch to work?
Aitrus does have a point. Although many characters in recent blocks have been fun to play with in casual (glissa, toshi, and now argus kos), they have largely failed to make an impact in tournament level decks.
Does anyone not see the irony in the fact that Toshi's little weapon has seen trillions more play than Toshi himself? Wizards have done a lot to push tournament worthy equipment but does not seem to have the same policy for the main characters in recent blocks. As a side note - after the whole of the Kamigawa block what do you think of the power of the legendary creatures presented there? IMO they fail to kick ass - not one of them can compete with the non-legendary Darksteel Colossus and beyond Isamaru and Kagemaro hardly anyone of them stands out as better than the good non-legendary creatrues in the Mirrodin block.
Menmarch has come to see play only after the mutilation of affinity and the death before birth of ironworks decks.
I am really enjoying this series of articles. I only started playing Magic aroung the release of Legions and these articles are really filling in a large empty space. Really enjoyable reading and looking forward to the next installment.
The same could have been said for myr enforcer - 7 mana 4/4 - omg what rubbish + it's an artifact so it dies both to creature and artifact hate!! Everybody knows how this turned up. Having said that Convoke is MUCH weaker than affinity in that to get this going you need cheap creatures + the convoke guy (ex. I tap my BOP to make one mana, err no ... to make my convoke guy 1 cheaper). WOTC are now being much more vigilant for broken mechanics
What happens is:
1: You tap to deal one damage
2: Ability goes on the stack
3: in response he taps his creature to tap yours
4: Ability 2 is put on the stack
5: Ability 2 resolves (your creature which is already tapped is targeted to be tapped)
6: Ability 1 resolves (one damage to puppeteer)
I wonder if you have any ideas on how will tooth shape up with the intro of 9th. I was thinking of using jester's cap in the sb for the mirror where you would go for titan colossus and kiki jiki. That would leave the other player with limited tooth targets such as duplicant and trisk.
Any ideas?
Long live Affinity (if WOTC will let it)
