I think this card is incredible in both limited and constructed. It's not as good as gigadrowse, but its much easier to cast. You can get so much utility out of it. Try to force spells through permission, race creatures that would otherwise be un-raceable (baneslayer) or use as a faux time walk by tapping their lands on the upkeep.
There isnt a deck currently that would fit this in the main probably. But, this is a definite sideboard contender.
You are incorrect Hardtrack. In 2HG you attack a player. You have to choose who you attack. As an additional example, when there is an Oona's Blackguard in play and a creature deals combat damage only the player attacked will have to discard.
I don't feel like its worth my time to respond to a lot of the nonsensical posts. I do however have sort of a conundrum, what would you think of replacing lighting bolts with the new lightning blast shock hybrid. It would clearly be an expected field call. I just feel from testing the two would almost serve the same purpose, with one having a better late game payoff.
Your sideboard seems extremely hectic. I'm not sure what the cards are for exactly, but you pretty much only have kill spells. Is this the deck you testing or just something you put together to show your general idea?
Sure. You charge it when you find yourself in a stalemate position or when the damage will not matter and use it when it does. It's better against the control mirror. Thank goodness you need to return it to your hand after you use it.
Well, I'm a bit biased, but I think John's deck in post #2 would be a good place to start, and then picking out other deck lists from this thread. There's still quite a lot of development going on.
I second that. john's deck looks great. I know i may be judged for bringing up the cutting of a cruel. I fully understand were you are coming from I just think it needs +1 baneslayer and for the life of me I dont see what would be better to cut here. I'm also worried about 26 land, esspecially if you keep the 4x cruel.
I love the Blue rare land from zen, I think that it will be really good at finding a spot in this deck.
By the way. Shouldn't most of the decks in this thread be called 4cc? :/
But see something that sacrifices to remove counters seems like an awful card. I would think if anything was made like that it would be similar to a withered wretch:
Vampire Hexmage BB
Creature - Vampire Wizard
1: Remove a counter from target permanent.
2/2
The cost is very reasonable and I am willing to bet money that the card won't even see play. 4 1/1s is nothing. We don't have the same control decks we used to.
i would say that the increase in mana cost over the Sages matters quite a bit as well. however, i admit i've never played with nor against legacy ichorid, so i'm only going by my experience with playing extended dredge (pre-rotation). it's been a while since any of my friends let me play dredge against them (lol), but i'f i recall correctly, dread returning a 2-of creature on turn two isn't gonna happen very often. you would have to get extremely lucky. not saying it can't happen, but the likelyhood is pretty slim, especially since putrid imp is gone.
hmm...idk, the more i ponder this, the more i think i might have been a little quick to dismiss the sphinx from dredge. i forget what all (if anything) rotates out of the deck, but if anything key rotates, this guy maaaaaay just have a shot at stepping in. not sure if it'll be the best choice available, but no doubt people will give it a try.
I'm not sure how you say that mana cost matters in dredge. Neither in legacy nor in extended do you ever have 4 mana to pay for cephalid and have 7 cards in your yard. Keeping that in mind this is better, I would always want to discard that extra card instead of keeping it if i choose to return a "cephalid" into play.
As far as the speed is concered, legacy is far faster then extended. In fact, legacy dredge is faster then vintage dredge (consistently). The reason is, 4 of lions eye diamond or 4 of lotus petal depending on what version you play (I personaly like 4 lions eye diamonds). The deck can make turn 1-2 wins with lions eye diamond pretty handilly....
The card is average. The +1 ability is the best one by a fair margin. The second following that but being more situational. And finally the 3rd ability being not great enough, but think of it this way, almost all planeswalkers are not judged by their last ability, because you never get to play that ability (except for garruk and maybe RW ajani)
For all the people saying I will be discarding cruels and playing them! cruel is a great card by itself. It costs 7, 1 more mana than this, this needs 3 turns to play the cruel. Usually when the control deck plays cruel its hard for the other player to come back into the game. Maybe its just me, but I would rather play that 7th land and play my cruel instead of discarding it to play it 3 turns later.
This card could maybe see play, personally i doupt it, it seems that creatures are really good and fast. This card doesnt do much to solve either the problems that aggro has with control or the problems control has with aggro, so I don't see what this would fit in.

Well, I suppose searching it out with a fetchland would be decent...
This card is mad 2 card combos with Scapeshift!!!! /sarcasm
Vampire Hexmage BB
Creature - Vampire Wizard
1: Remove a counter from target permanent.
2/2
That seems far more reasonable...
yup had the same exact idea a page back. It's gotta be right :/
Nonbasic landwalk boots --- 2
Artifact -- Equipment Uncommon
Equip 2
Equipped creature has nonbasic landwalk
that seems like a fair card fitting that description.
