  • posted a message on [Duel Commander] friendly version of NGW's Lazav control / voltron multiplayer deck?
    I'm a real noob and still trying to figure out how to have the name of the card link, for some reason I'm doing something wrong. So I will edit this post once I figure it out. I've been gone a while and thought I'd copy someone's deck I enjoy until I realized it's for the wrong format I play >< I play 1v1 Traditional and not multiplayer. NGW's Competitive Lazav Control / Voltron deck is multiplayer focused and I understand those decks get wrecked in a 1v1 environment. If anyone could suggest cards in this list I should remove and what to replace them with to make it 1v1 competitive I would be very grateful. I've been away from Magic for far too long to use my own head and creativity to figure this out on my own. I've been on Edhrec and tappedout but it's too late now that I've already purchased 90% of the cards from this persons deck. Thanks.

    Just got back in the scene not long ago and wanted to make sure I read rules properly. Commander has 3 formats correct? 1v1 traditional, 1v1 French duel and multiplayer? They are all the same except for how much life you start with and what cards are banned? 1v1 traditional and the standard multiplayer is the exact same thing hence why it says in the thread for 1v1 traditional that is it using the multiplayer ban rules? I just want to make sure I read this right before I go off and buy a bunch of cards that are maybe banned. I only plan on playing casually with random people at the local store nearby and don't want any "WTF" moments Smile Thanks.

    I feel like an idiot because after being away from the Magic scene for many years I decided since I had so much to catch up on that I would copy someone's commander deck for fun and as I get back into the swing of things to start coming up with my own......anyhow I play Commander 1v1 NOT multiplayer...and I didn't know there was a difference >< what cards would I need to remove from this deck to make it more 1v1? I have yet to purchase some of the cards but I figure cards like mana drain and force of will can't be bad cards 1v1. I did a lil research as to the differences between 1v1 and mp commander but I simply don't know enough to figure out what to take out and then replace it with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really do like the cards in this deck though.

    PS: I found out that 1v1 Commander is called Duel French Commander and that some of the cards in here are banned but that there is also a 1v1 traditional as well using the same ban list as multiplayer allowing for more flexibility.

    Hello, been out of the magic scene for quite a few years. Still have all my cards mostly and picked up quite a few as well over the last month.
    Rather than make different threads for each deck, I thought I'd just do it all here. Except for my Commander question I'll post elsewhere. Some of the following decks I want to make using the modern format are.

    -Land destruction
    -Elf
    -Counter spell / Stasis like deck if a modern equivalent exists.
    -Any deck with Black / Green / Blue

    I know that some land destruction is in red as well. I'm open to that but would prefer black / green / blue or just Black / Green. If someone could tell me some of the must haves for each style of deck that would be greatly appreciated. I know lots of this is opinion but some cards I know are a must.

    As for the counter spell / stasis deck. I am aware that stasis is not modern legal. If there is a modern equivalent to this style of deck with counter spell like cards in it, that would be great. These are just a few of the decks I used to play casually and somewhat competitively as well, so was hoping there might be a modern equivalent.

    I am open to any other themes that are popular as well with the colours Black / Green / Blue and or any combination of those colours.
