    However, it's also come to my attention that Metallic Mimic exists and could be another kithkin lord and it's colorless. If I add it I think I would take out the planeswalkers. I've never actually used them and they usually get sideboarded out. Though they push the curve of the deck I like the Cloudgoat Rangers. Putting 4 threats on the board is amazing and the tokens it makes aren't usually 1/1s because of Cenn or Honor. Plus he has evasion.

    I really like Brave the Elements. It can save a Wizened Cenn or basically says my creatures are unblockable. On the downside it doesn't synergize with Metallic Mimic but it didn't do anything for planeswalkers anyway so I guess switching the Mimics in for the walkers doesn't really change anything.

    Brave the elements is a good option considering that you're not running Forge-Tenders in your main. About the Planeswalkers, I guess you could cut them off - try adding +1/+2 Cloudgoat Ranger and/or +1/+2 Thoughtweft Trio instead.
    And I really don't like Metallic Mimic, just couldn't make it work Confused

    Mana Tithe can be interesting. If people aren't expecting it they often tap out to play a planswalker or combo off so I leave it in the sideboard.

    I like to put things like Mana Tithe

    Indeed, Mana Tithe is really interesting Laughing

    Since we don't run any fetches, it could be worthwhile to test Suppression Field in the board. I think the only cards of ours it affects are Figure, Cloudgoat and Windbrisk if you run it.

    What abilities do you fear that you want to run that? I have not encountered any abilities that make me want to run it, but that may be my local meta

    Agreed, Suppression Field depends on your meta. Stony Silence seems to be enough against activated abilities so far. Anw, I still have 1/2 free slot(s) in my SB, any hints?

    I used to run 3/4 Windbrisk Heights with 2/4 Cloudgoat Ranger, but I'm not that lucky with "combos" Grin
    Also, I've won so many matches because I was able to discard those Clachans.
    Anw, I'm giving a try once again to 3 Windbrisks in the next matches.

    Was this in a tournament setting or just casual games? Any reason to favor Clachan over Windbrisk Heights?

    Just local modern matches, but I'm pretty sure this deck can be a pain in the ass if sideboarded correctly. Of course, it's not a tier 1 or 2, but it's fun to play with.

    I've decided to play some local games with Kithkins and here are the results:

    Burn: 2-0 - Easy match since I'm running 4 Forge-Tenders
    Junk: 1-2 - Game was tough and sideboarding didn't help me
    Esper control: 2-1 - Figures helped me out after 1st match
    Soul Sisters: 2-1 - +3 Torpor Orb and -2 Ranger of Eos/-1 Cloudgoat Ranger
    Affinity: 2-0 - 1st match was tough but sideboarding is key (Stony Silence + Aura of Silence + Kataki)
    Is anyone still playing Kithkins? All comments are welcome Cool

    Hello everyone,

    New to the thread, what do you guys think about running aether vial?

    It's not a good option if you're going for Classic Kithkin (Cloudgoat Ranger/Ranger of Eos and Figure of Destiny). But you can try it with the Soldier version of the deck that uses Preeminent Captain.

    This is what I have come up with, splashimg red according to your previous comments, havent testedet it yet though... What do you guys think?
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/red-kithkin-worshippers-of-iroas/?cat=cost
    I really like to play at least 2 copies of path to exile because it allows you to get rid of creatures permanently, and boros charm gives you three options, thats always great in my opinion...

    Hi!
    Try running +2 Preeminent Cap'n and 1 Brave the Elements instead of those Lightning Helix. I would also cut 1 Borderguard or 1 Boros Charm for another Brave the Elements. These will give you more aggro than burning options.
    PS: Consider running Burrenton Forge-Tender in your sideboard, and always go for Blood Moon if you can ($$$)...

    I'm thinking of resurrecting this deck as a stompy/prison style aggro hybrid. I think the maindeck hate would work well with the threats.
    The red also opens up more sideboard options (Bolt/Roast/etc.). Thoughts?

    The main reason is Blood Moon, but splashing for red also grants you Boil and lots of artifact hate (Smash to Smithereens, Shattering Spree, etc).
    EDIT: You can also try Ghostly Prison/Ensnaring Bridge as you're going for stompy/prison.

    Never tried Gideon, what are the results?

    @praus6qwet
    It seems you're running the Soldier/Kithkin version, so, I guess you should consider -4 Figure of Destiny (too slow if not running the classic kithkins), -3 Goldmeadow Harrier and -1 Kinsbaile Borderguard for +2 Militia's Pride, +2 Preeminent Cap'n and +4 Brave the Elements.
    Preeminent is the heart of this variant, and Brave/Militia's Pride provides the "escape" you need.

    Runed Halo is a budget version of Leyline.

    Splashing for Red seems to be a good idea in every Kithkin variant (Classic, Soldiers...)
    So, I guess Blood Moon NEEDS to be in the list if you are not looking for budget.

    1. Without Ballyrush Banneret the deck is too slow, Preeminent Captain is not enough as B.B makes him, Trio and Borderguard cheaper.

    2. The deck seems rather weak as it is now, with little chance to win against control/midrange or outrace a good aggro or combo deck (unless you start with a god hand).
    It doesn't seem very good at the moment without some better Kithkin cards (even Figure of Destiny which I like feels really slow in an aggro deck).

    3. I think I should cut Honor of the Pure and Militia's Pride for another Boros Charm and 2x Lightning Bolts and 1x Brave the Elements for another Bolt.

    4. I still think the deck needs some extra value with Iroas, God of Victory (against aggro/midrange) or Ajani Vengeant (against control/combo)
    (or maybe something else ? Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile ? Boros Reckoner ?)
    [/deck]

    I played a few games with your deck and consdering that this is the "Soldier/Kickass" variant of the deck:
    1. I agree with you, Figure is too slow for it. And you can keep those Bannerets;
    2. If you don't have Blood Moon, sideboarding is the key against control (Boil/Cavern of Souls/Rending Volley);
    3. I guess you can cut those Figures off if they are not helping you, and keep Honor of the Pure;
    4. I played with both, Iroas and Ajani, and that "prevent damage" ability + Preeminent Cap'n is nice. So, Iroas > Ajani in this case.

    What about Iroas, it seems to fit this deck rather well ?

    I don't think so, that's cause you already have lots of cards with CMC 3 or +

    EDIT: About Ballyrush Banneret, I just don't like it. You already have Preeminent Cap'n, so you can cheat Thoughtweft/Borderguard in. I guess you can replace those 4 Ballyrush for: 2 Honor of the Pure, 1 Helix and maybe another land. Just try it and tell me the results! Smileup

    Anyone playing Surge of Thoughtweft in their deck ?
    I'm wondering whether to cut it or not.

    MONO-WHITE: Surge is ok, but if you are not sure, you can replace it for +1 Path to Exile and +1 Honor of the Pure.
    Also, I guess -1 Ballyrush and +1 Goldmeadow would be nice because you have only 20 lands.

    WR: About splashing for red, it is a good idea. I feel like Ajani could be replaced for another land. And you can replace 1 Ballyrush for 1 Lightning Helix. Btw, you can always think about Blood Moon in Modern, the only problem is the money, lol.

    Not actually, but I used to run Mana Tithe and it was very helpful considering that it's a 1 CMC spell...
    About Silence, I have 2 free-slots in my deck right now, so I guess I can give it a try.

    I was thinking about including Anafenza into Mono W, I'll try it and post the results here soon...

    @prismatic elf and DontYouJIMMYMe
    Indeed Gaddock may be useful once again. About those matchups, I agree that there's no place for them right now.

    Thanks for answering. I think I'm going to test something like this...

    Sounds fine, please post your results. Btw, I guess WR Ajani would be a nice add.
