    Hiho,

this is my first post in this forum and apart from playing the odd Friday night magic session and some casual magic, I am also very interested in 3D-Art. I have thousands of surplus commons and uncommons and selling them in bulk is as good as throwing them in the next garbage bin. I wanted to give some sets away to people starting out with MTG, but then I still have hundreds of cards left.

The idea now was to make some 3D life counters out of the surplus ones, keep some for myself and possibly sell some of them on the bay or elsewhere. Obviously I didn't plan to sell hundreds, but mor euse up most of my commons and uncommons as fillers or layers and reinvest in cards I need for a Commander deck or so.

I made a first attempt and it is a fun hobby in itself, yet I was wondring if it is legal to sell such life counters (abacus style) or tokens. Are there any issues regarding copyright infringement if I use an orginial magic card and make it 3-D?

What if I recombine different cards? Say I have this very nice card I like the person in the foreground of, but the background is not what I invision? I thus replace the background with say a standard land. To freshen it up even more, I cut out all the text boxes and have underneath the actual 3 D art another 'window' which features parts of another card or maybe a standard land in 3-D.

In this way I would use magic cards to create my own artwork, using artwork by different artists.

Are both cases legal or is only a 3-D card without alterations legal or is the whole concept a grey zone? I see that some people are selling those cards, as does Seishirou Ookubo who supposedly invented this art (and he is featured on Wizards website). If I acknowledge the artist(s) (in case of the original card this is already the case on the card, but for the background, lands etc. possibly not visible anymore) on the back of the counter, am I on the save side?

If it turns out it might cause problems I will continue doing the 3D stuff for my own use. Is it then legal to share those pictures of my works online? Again, I see hundreds of such photos in this forums, yet, it does not automatically imply it is legal.

I would appreciate it very much, if someone could help me with this question.

    Yes.

Name and number crunch confirms that it is not reprinted. Not in Return at least.

Now all that need to happen is the removal of the dash. The brackets and change in weight differentiate the tags enough. Basic typography here.

The different colors greatly diminish readability. Make them all the same.

New operator is:reprint, use in combation with e: ++e:pc2/en not:reprint (Cards that are new in Planechase 2012.) Might have bugs for older editions and promotional cards.

It would be awesome to have this added to the "Is:" dropdown.

    All credit goes to Sandreline.

That credit should have been given in the first place.

I have seen guru duals which were awesome but never a set of full set of fetch lands and that is soon to be coming.

I would suggest cleaning up your lines a bit before attempting a playset. The cleanliness and precision of the Guru lands seem quite distant from what's represented on your Mesa alter. The addition of the colored boxes and color shifts seem important as well.

i noticed it that some names are barely eligible at the resolution and the font you used, i would recommend saving the image at a slightly higher resolution. Other than that its great!!!

I would recommend using a different font entirely. The reasons why Papyrus is a terrible font have been discussed ad nauseam, but they're all true.
