Sep 16, 2018There are many competitive players on Cockatrice. I used to have a playgroup that I mostly played with, until it dissipated recently, and everyone in it was a solid magic player.Posted in: Big Mana
Sep 15, 2018Man, Knight of Autumn is such a good card. There hasn't been a green card spoiled this good for a while. This is a huge improvement for most G/w creature decks. You get your sideboard Lifegain and Disenchant effect all in one card, and it can even be a decent body if need be, so you don't have to worry about bringing it in and being just a 3 mana 2/1 like Rec Sage. It frees up multiple spots in the sideboard improving those decks even more. This card is so good.Posted in: Big Mana
Luckily I'm not sure Humans can afford to play it over Rec Sage because of the mana requirement, but they still might. Humans is already the best deck in the format so I'm never happy to hear about it potentially getting an upgrade.
Sep 14, 2018If you can't kill creatures, then Humans will just wreck you. You need to have answers to Mage and Freebooter. That's why I like my Garruk Green with Ballista list, or even the Constrictor list (which I haven't tested nearly as much).Posted in: Big Mana
Fulgence says he kept winning against Humans, which seems odd to me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that people aren't prepared to play against Green Devotion and don't name the correct cards with Mage.
Sep 14, 2018I already have a U/B Training Grounds deck with Pack Rat. It's a decent deck. It's possible he could be used as like a 1 or 2-of, but it won't be breaking the deck anytime soon.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Beyond this deck, I see 0 potential. Perhaps some combo deck involving binning Bogles to protect it but highly unlikely. Or you could play the Nyxathid deck and have big dumbies, but then you might as welll be playing Grixis Death's Shadow.

Yes, there is, if you have a 3 mana creature with persist and a 3 mana creature with Undying, and phyrexian Altar. Or you can have a Driver of the Dead and the altar, and if it works as i imagine (u targeting lazav cause the altar ability is a mana ability(and that don't work, would need 2 lazav))
I'm mostly looking for a Modern combo, I don't play EDH or casual. I suppose you have more options for Legacy, but it's much harder to brew in Legacy.
Sep 13, 2018Yeah, Knight of Autumn is a great card, and a solid improvement over Rec Sage for any non-elf, green-based creature deck running white. It's perfect for the CoCo list.Posted in: Big Mana

NoNameAlreadyTaken does stream, you can watch his VOD probably. Orrrr you can also just play the deck yourself, which is what I did.
Sep 13, 2018We have lots of Flyrs already, I'd rather have Hexproof and Trample. Perhaps it can see play as a 1-of, but i doubt it. I'll have to look at the numbers. Also, Tyrant can be cast lategame unlike this one. This card might be good in the Grixis Soulflayer deck though.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)

I won't be playing it. It's just worse than Carnage Tyrant. One of the main reasons Trample is so important is because you want to be able to kill quick through Lingering Souls or any other flying chump blockers, so the flying on Predator is mostly irrelevant.

Have you played NoNameAlreadyTaken's CoCO list? It's very good. Definitely one of the most competitive Green Devotion lists around. He has ton's of 5-0's with that deck, he must play a lot of Leagues with it.
I'm curious how many he plays, and what is actual League win percentage is.
Sep 12, 2018I don't even play on MTGO. I play on a free third party app, Cockatrice. Once I have the loop it actually goes super quick because Cockatrice is more like paper magic I can just show the opponent the loop and ask if I can shortcut. I played two matches with this deck, and the first opponent ragequit even before I had a loop set up. What took some time was everything up to that point. The game may not have even gone long, but some players don't like to play against combo decks that take long turns before they kill you. Maybe they'd just scoop if it was against a well-known deck.Posted in: Big Mana
Sep 12, 2018I just tested your Walker Devotion deck out for the first time. I played against some 4c BWGU Gifts deck. I think it was 4c Solar Flare. Basically a Sultai Midrange list with Gifts/Unburial Rites from what I saw.Posted in: Big Mana
Holy moly, the match was insane. I ended up winning 2-1. THe last game was insane. My last turn took like 30 minutes. I ddin't think I could win, but I just tried to take the best lines, trying desperately to pull together a combo kill, and somehow after jumping through many hoops I managed to combo kill. It was perhaps the most insane Green Devotion turn I've ever taken.
It's funny how this deck doesn't have infinite dmg with a card like Ballista or Shalai or even just near infinite with Craterhoof. You can win by untapping all your lands with Nissa and and swinging with a bunch of 5/5's, as well as destroying your opponents board with Acidic slime. It seems like a Ballista could be a fine addition, but I guess it's just not necessary. Luckily my opponent was patient and he wanted to see me try to combo kill.
Definitely a lot of fun, but I'm worried many opponents will be rage quitting while I'm doing my thing.
Btw, Vraska was good. Killed Trackers and sacrificed my useless dorks or a visionary which I could just rebuy.
Still, while Walker devotion is a sweet deck, I'm afraid it doesn't have enough interaction to be competitive. Without interactions you can't beat the combo decks or HUmans. And I imagine this deck will struggle with U/W control.
