oh and about the list you played. You have 3 starfield as your only wincons? how do you not lose to anyone playing blue? :S its the only thing in the entire deck they need to worry about countering. then they can just sit back and wait for you to mill out, since with eidolon and insight youre mostlikely gone through most cards. it seems a bit risky no?
Drop the Wraths main deck, I've rarely needed them in the first game and you already run Nodes. Since you arent running Eidolon, 2 auramancys are fine. Go a bit higher on the Monastery Siege count, I've often found it to be quite good unanswered.
BTW it doesnt happen very often where you get to put enchantments into your yard with Insight, then you would need to run more than 30 enchantments or something like that for it to happen, so dont rely on that too often.
3 colored deck which is mainly white with a splash for a creature that has double green and utopia sprawl which can only enchant a forest - seems like a full on dead on the spot to a bloodmoon no?
As promised, I piloted my GW Enchnatress deck to another Modern tourney and went 4-2 although one of my wins was due to a bye in round 1. I played the list as seen on the bottom of page 15.
Round 1: Bye
Round 2: 1-2 against Scapeshift. Game 1 I had the hard lock with auramancy and runed halo etc. and he scooped. Game 2 I got wrecked by Fracturing Gust into Scapeshift. Game 3 he had an EE for 2 to destroy about 6 of my permanents. Ouch.
Round 3: 0-2 against R/G Ramp with Through the breach and scapeshift etc. The matchup is almost on the same level as Tron... Game 1 he hardcast an Emrakul. Game 2, Back to Nature = GG. He had 4 of them in his SB (!!!)
Round 4: 2-0 against Abzan Aggro with Wilt-leaf liege and finks etc. Probably one of my best matchups. Game 1 got very grindy but i eventually got there with Favor of the mighty to swing through. Game 2 I had a hard lock and he conceded.
Round 5: 2-1 against Enduring Ideal. Game 1 he had counters and a wrath for my Eidolon and Herald and eventually an Enduring Ideal. Game 2 was very easy. Choke, Stony Silence, Eidolon etc. was enough. Game 3, I got him down to 1 life when he Fracturing Gust my board gaining 16 life. The following turn I cast an Eidolon and Sprawl and simply went from there and drew a Starfield and killed him in the end.
Round 6: 2-1 against Naya Kiki-jiki with Resto and chord. Game 1 he began to make a copy of Reclamtion sage every turn with Kiki-Jiki. I then conceded because i would eventually lose all my enchantments and he could combo off. Game 2, I had an Wrath for his mana dorks and he was a bit tight on mana and I got a Starfield into play and began the beats. Game 3, he mulled to 6 and kept a one lander (sacred foundry) and didnt draw any lands and just conceded.
Cards that were good: Eidolon (as always, as of now I wouldn't dream to cut it from the deck. Its just that good), Auramancy is never a bad card and having 3 was great. Herald is soooo good if left unanswered and can pull me far ahead of the opponent. Suppression Field with fetches didn't bother me one bit, as I would just use my fetches in hand before i cast Field.
I think if you're running green 4x Kruphix's Insight is a must it is almost a Dig Through Time for us + 1 more card. Running 4 of those and no eidolons might be the way to go. What do you guys think?
i feel like id rather cut herald if i had to cut anything. Eidolon feels like the reason we go into green for, besides choke on sb. feel like running wrath as well, and more creatures sort of ruins that a bit.
Updated GW list. Would really appreciate criticism as I will be playing in a Modern tournament tomorrow. I'm really tired of losing to blue decks lol, but do you think 4 Chokes are a bit overkill or what?
think it depends on the meta. I gave your list a swing. i really like the ramp part of it. sprawl is insanely good, and herald speeds up so much that it feels like lategame in turn 4-5. and sticking eidolon is so much CA that you risk decking yourself. but i feel that sprawl put an intense pressure on the manabase - that its urgent you have that forest. and eidolon feels like if you splashed a third color for a doublecolor card. and today i realised the herald is not an enchantment itself, so all of a sudden its super awkward to get lategame. overall i feel that the game loses to counterspells on prisons and them sticking a guy or massremoval (like gust or O-stone ) just wrecks it. think if youre in green choke is a must- but dno how many. feel maybe faith's reward would have a place there too.. would really rather have a boros charm though.
edit: also really dont like favor the mighty. it seems straight up bad as long as tasigur/zombiefish is a card.
ive not yet lost a single best of 3 vs burn to this day. and ive lost less than 5 games total out of at least 200+ paper games. ive tested both scry and both kinda lifegain lands and neither does any good. emeria is alot of the time just an endgame threat that the opponent straight up loses if it comes to it, so they have to play around it or risk more to end the game faster. Ive GQ my own lands more than enemies. fetching mistveil is crucial in so many matches that i feel if you didnt play GQ you need to play fetches. if i have to get rid of emeria it would be for mistveil. i did try with 4 mistveil, and had decent experience - to the point i didnt feel like needing to GQ my own lands to find it, but in the grindy games like BGx emeria is needed badly, and wouldnt cut it.
Are you saying that you're getting your Mistveil Plains out using Ghost Quarter? That doesn't work. It's a Plains, but not a basic.
people like you is whats make mods close threads. Coming and trolling with troll / budget builds, claiming them to be good. and then keep arguing with "stats" from tournaments where everyone runs tier 2 decks at best. fact is: ive tested all the stuff suggested. Got over 1000+ matches recorded with mill. all you do is wind people up with all the ***** youre posting in every thread really. If i could i would get this thread closed and get a new one opened so we could get rid of all these budget casual lists that are terrible even on the kitchen table. this way we could get a proper primer as well instead of the inaccurate crap this has.
It's the perfect alternate win condition. All of a sudden your Hatching Plans "done came up like 7-up, champ". Jace, Vryn's Prodigy would be good in letting you rebuy Crack the Earths, Perilous Researchs, and so forth. Even Day's Undoing sounds like a solid fit here.
Sphinx's Tutelage seems good win condition to the Hatching Plans. I can see these cards being played in modern mill deck as well.
With the amount of available Fetches and Ghost Quarters, + Paths, Trap does work for you easily. I have used 2 on my first turn when I GQ. Foe scooped that game.
Stony Silence is for those affinity decks which seem to be really good? But yeah, I questioned why no Hurkyl's Recall but didn't want to touch on it.
Remand by the by, puts it back in hand, the foe can re-cast that spell. And it ups their Prowess and Storm triggers? I don't know much about storm honestly but if it works how I think it does. At the very best you can Remand a spell, then Surgical Extract it before they can replay it.
Oboro only triggers crab, correct. I haven't yet used it so I can't say for certain that it works well. Maybe it has to be more than a 1-of.
What is the record with it at Modern events?
remand does not work that way. the countered spell gets returned to your hand from the stack. and i said oboro instead of shrine and i even explained to you why. anywho im not gonna bother anymore. there seems to be no one here who actually knows how to play competetive magic, that writes in this thread anymore. its sad to see. ill pay some attention here again when something new comes out. till then ill only browse here when i feel like a laughing at people trying to convince each other that their casual decks are tier1 decks in a competetive format.
Helping out a friend here. He has always been convinced he would be the guy to make Modern Mill playable in a large meta game, but he has never wanted to sign up for any sort of MTG Forum. He asked if I could post his list and tell him what advice other mill players had for him.
-edit- He is making the change to Timely Reinforcements over Crypt Incursion, as he thinks that Incursion hurts Visions of Beyond too much.
cut jace - hes straight out bad. nearly every other card that mills is his supperior, yes even the bad ones.
im still not a fan of mind funeral - its far too random.
not sure why hes not running 4 traps? and why not 4 breaking?
remand seems a bit odd. its giving both players an extra turn - i really only find it good when you want a 3rd land for erm mind funeral? or well so you can snap something back.
would cut the godless shrine for oboro. never want a land that is not blue unless its a basic or GQ. would also up the count of GQ if possible to 3 and then maybe cut a single path off.
whats stony silence against? why is recall not just better?
edit: ive said it before though, mill is not gonna be competetive as long as burn is good and tutor decks like scapeshift / (previously) birthing pod are nonexisting/bad. its prettymuch the only time you can play mill in modern. at best if we get one more card on par with glimpse or trap its possible to play. else it isnt.

wish i could play in your meta :/
sry my bad thought it was a bit obvious

I GQ my flagstones.

you only running 25 enchantments where you say you have 26 though but ok
youre missing 1 card mb no?
disenchant, leyline, wear / tear, erase, stony silence, hide / seek, ghostly prison, hallowed moonlight.
any general hate cards that doesnt distrupt your own plan like thalia would for instance.
