I think that, to really make it special, they should do Double-faced flip cards for the planeswalkers XD

That way you could see your favorite walker in all stages of life: Baby Jace flips to teenager jace which then tranforms into adult jace that finally flips to Planeswalker Jace =)

Teenager Jace- Ooooh feel the Angsty-ness. The only thing more narcissistic than Jace is Jace undergoing puberty...

Hey somebody asked an interesting question of Doug!
    From Tumbir:
Q: Hey Doug, the flavor text on the promo version of Hoardling Outburst mentions Kolaghan Goblins. What is the relationship between dragons and goblins on Tarkir?
    -troublingpath
A: The Ugin’s Fate promo booster contained some alternate pieces of art and flavor text for Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged cards. Some of those cards contain hints about what might result from Sarkhan’s time traveling, in a version of Tarkir’s history in which dragons did not die out. There’ll be more to say about this once we get closer to Dragons of Tarkir!

EDIT: A few other promo cards are releasing that have new creative in that same vein as the Ugin’s Fate booster, where the new art or flavor represent hints about what may come in the new timeline. The promotional Hordeling Outburst was not one of the Ugin’s Fate promos, but similarly hints at what may come.

To be fair Agents of Artifice has its own canical problems. I personally wouldn't trust it as a probable source of Info. (You can disagree but this isn't exactly the post for the finer point of canon)
I'm curious to see how they do the legendary Creature-Planewalker changeover. Duoface cards? separate legendaries? Wasn't Nissa a bit of a elf-bigot before her li'l Eldrazi mistake?

Interesting to see Chandra among those listed. Ajani was obviously left out since we already know his backstory, but I thought the flashbacks in Purifying Fire would suffice for a Chandra origin. Guess she's just popular enough to warrant inclusion.

I'm really interested in Liliana's story. Maybe we'll finally find out who that bloody Raven Man is?

I totally thought that too when I saw the Ravens. I'm curious that they stated her as a healer before her spark's rise and her moral fall. (Yes, I'm white/Green. So I consider it a fall. Deal with it. ;p) The only person she attempted to heal was her bro- which didn't turn out so well for him. Stupid Raven Man, gotta make family relationships complicated don't ya?

Guys, you are forgetting that this is a time travel story with a logical, narrative-driven answer. What happened when Ugin was killed in the now nullified KTK timeline? The Clans took over. What happens when Ugin lives? (aka Current Timeline) The broods dominate and now lead the peoples of Tarkir. There will be no more clans. There will only be the allied coloured broods.
A hint of this truth- read the flavor txt of the new Hordeling Outburst promo for March. Notice how they are called "Kolaghan Goblins"? We have pretty sure evidence that the broods have no other members in their ranks other than dragons so what changed?
    http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/arcana/january-through-march-fnm-promo-update-2014-12-31
I suspect that without Ugin's death the Dragons successfully enveloped the clans to the extent that they will effectively be part of the broods, Therefore dropping the possibility for the enemy color in thier identity.
Another way to think about it is this: Perhaps the clans adopted the enemy colour as a reactive step to eliminate a weakened enemy, the mirrored ally-coloured dragons. I.e. The Jeskai adopted the chaos of Red to combat the superior intellect of Ojutai's brood. The Mardu adopted the social stratification of White to combat the chaos of Kolaghan. The Sultai took up the lethal viciousness of Green against the sneaky nature of Silimgar's Brood. The Abzan used the domination offered by Black to eliminate Dromoka's kind, while finally the Temur added to thier arsenal the subtle trickiness of Blue to counter the Predatory nature of Atarka's brood.
notice how each of the enemy colours is as much of an enemy to the allied colour broods as they are to the clans whose centers naturely are centered on allied parings as well. just a thought. It's OK to disagree, its childish to be disagreeable.

The Theran gods On Theros? Still Heck of a lot. Elspeth appeared to be lacking zeal towards them and still got killed. I admit that your phrasing tho is interesting as Xenagos made the same argument with Nylea and was only wounded, not slain. However, even by marking him, Nylea's actions proved disastrous for Xenagod with the assist from Elspeth. I would not be surprised if we touch more on your theory next visit to Theros. I dunno about the Theran pantheon, they are hard to configure

My personal answer to the question?
    Eldrazi Titans
    Bolas
    Ugin
    Karn,Sorin
Guildpact Jace, Chain Veil Lili, Cursed Garruk
    Elspeth,Nissa, Chandra, Tezz,Sarkhan, Ajani, Gideon
Xenagos, Koth, Dack, Tamiyo, Ral, Vraska
    Tibalt, Domri, Ashiok

This is kinda a dumb question as its comparing apples to oranges, irrelevant to context. Plus there have been walkers currently shown in new story lines tht ended up much more powerful than I thought. They each have different skills, strengths, weaknesses. Just watch as seemingly weak Tibalt becomes a main antagonist and summons an Infernal army to threaten a plane. Or Ignorant (but awesomely stubborn) Domri call up the wild to restore a primordial world from an encroaching Ice age. These things haven't happened obviously but I wouldn't be surprised if Creative gives each character the limelight to be vastly powerful for good, Evil, or something more ambiguous. In such a Grand sandbox for storytelling, who knows what RnD have up their sleeve.

    It is Done.
So now the question is, what happens to Sarkhan? Does he jump forward as some have spec'd or does his life alternate in this new timeline? Would an alternate future Sarkhan's spark even ignite under the different circumstances? I do agree that Sorin's appearance on Tarkir makes more sense if when he shows up at Ugin's canyon he just revives him from his medicoma. I'm curious to also see if our speculations on Narset are correct. One thing is for certain, I can't wait for the look on Bolas's face if/when a revived Ugin calls for a rematch. One problem I had with the story is just how easily Yasova tipped the balance between this battle between oldwalkers. Shouldn't her influence amounted to nothing more than a gnat tackling two brawling kids in a playground? Anyways excited for the changes, I kinda don't care anymore about the rest of Fate Reforged story's now, unless they deal with the plane's baby steps towards what the world will look like in DTK.

Do we even know if Sarkhan in the new present timeline is going to even be a planeswalker? I mean he'd still have his spark but would it necessarily be ignited? The fact that there will only be five factions and we know that Dragons rule in the future, Sarkhan might never have had the rapture that started him on his planes walking feet to begin with?

"The khans in the future are weak!"

Total p/t of future khans: 23/17. 2 future khans beat their predecessors handily, and 2 draw with them. Only Tasigur is stronger than his replacement, and according to the guide, he's just a spoiled prince that cares more about various pleasures of the flesh rather than running the clan.

    "You are strong!"

Total p/t of past khands: 18/15

    ---------

I'm joking. I just find all of that funny. I know P/T doesn't necessarily reflect story.

I totally thought this too! I was like, um Sarkhan, the KTK Khans are rad commander mythics while the FRF Khans are only sealed picks. I'm Pretty sure who is stronger. That being said I am excited for the rescue of Ugin. I have a feeling tho that Sarkhan is for some reason going to be planebound with his spark unignited in FRF, with Narset and Bolas being DTK's Planeswalkers. There are always unexpected consequences for changing the past in time travel stories and this may be one of them. If I get Yasova this prerelease, I'm totally not gonna help revive Ugin! It'd be funny to play the part of the miguided Khan. Wink

  • posted a message on Planeswalkers....and their Theme Music
    I have something to confess,
Sometimes when I become invested in a story certain music becomes associated with certain characters, plot-lines and even 'ships. Am I the only one who does this? Is this wierd? Anyways, here is a list of some of my associations, please share yours!
    First,
    Planeswalkers in General
    - Kelly Clarkson's "People Like Us" Our Heroes and villians are an exceptionally select, empowered population in the multiverse...
-Danny Fernandez's "Come Back Down" When one becomes a planeswalker it changes their relationship with planebound peoples

    Elspeth Tirel
    - Bastille's "Pompeii" Her feelings towards Bant, slow disenfranchisement with Theros.....and it's conclusion
    - Virginia to Vegas' (and Alyssa Reid's)"We are Stars"
-David Guetta's (w/Sia) "Titanium" In Theros she was pretty much unstoppable until... Frown
    Chandra Nalaar
    - Ellie Goulding's "Burn" nuff said
    - Phillip Phillip's "Raging Fire" again, nuff said
    Gideon Jura and Chandra Nalaar
    - Zedd's "Clarity"
-Pink's "True Love" I think they could be potentially attracted to the other but at the same infuriatingly frustrated at the other as well

    Gideon Jura
--Swedish House Mafia's "Don't you Worry Child" I think that the multiverse has a grand destiny for him, but it may end in tragedy. Alternatively works well with Jace too...

    Jace Beleren
-Guns N Roses' "One in a Million" I think Jace is pretty self absorbed but isolated @ same time. I admit I'm not a fan
-Glenn Morrison's "Goodbye" This define's his and Emmara failed 'ship

    Garruk
-Three Day's Grace' "Animal I've Become" cuz he has became sorta a monster

    Xenagos
-Pitbull's "Timber" Pretty much a perfect song for hedonism and reckless abandon

    That's all I got! Wht about y'all?

I'm not sure you can speak of any kind of "biology" if they aren't even made of physical matter, but I guess it's a matter of semantics.

Biology isn't limited to the physical, some scientists would even define things like cellular automata as life, albeit digital. Anyway, I think if Nicol Bolas wanted to consume the Eldrazi he would have just gone to Zendikar and done so. If he wasn't powerful enough to do so yet, then he wouldn't have released them at that point in time. He probably wants to direct them towards some planes and destroy those planes, or just occupy all the other powerful planeswalkers to deal with the Eldrazi while he executes his true masterplan.

Quite possible, quite possible. Perhaps my theory needs more ironing out. I shall await further evidence in the storyline's future or just let time invalidate the theory, which if it proves to be false surely will happen.

Do you do this with your university essays too ThelronCaptain? Deliberately misquote your references hoping to actually sound legit? You don't. Please desist in projecting your personal speculation as proof. There is a separate thread for that kind of stuff. Also there is a Wiki, consult it, often. I myself have mistakenly made claims that I realize requires a greater understanding of the source material, but this is beginning to be a personal habit for you. Please desist.Immediatley. Thank you

True, they are wonderful to have as friends (or family) and make dangerous enemies, but my question still stands: How will the timeline change them? Will the environment (deserts) change? these are questions I look forward to discovering. I'm actually afraid that the Abzan may lose traits I enjoy of them. but this is speculative so I'll just hold my breath.Sorry moderators...
