Just saw a cute term for the new elder dragons, "neo-elder dragons". I like it cause it's similar in showing us the power difference between them and the old elders. Kinda like the power difference between old walkers and neo-walkers. Thoughts?

This is just perfect. dot dot dot Whoever thought of this is A GENIUS.

I think this just goes to show that you should never underestimate the potential negative impacts of annoying the Vorthos community. Once they feel you have betrayed them they'll successfully coin a term that'll stick permanently in the game. It's like a bumper sticker you just cant seem to peel off or paint over no matter it's age.

Narset is probably Sultai, judging from her eyes. Switched her fate with Taigam. Sarkhan would be shocked at this revelation. Not all change is good. I expect to see the story unfold this week

    Blue eyes make one Sultai?

The only thing that looks like Sultai is her golden breastplate...and even that might be just her walker attire.

Moreover, she is in a kind of martial art pose again....nope, not seeing the Sultai here.

    Where is this pic?

    Here is the article

    Here s the picture

thx. This picture confuses me as I originally thought we had seen a VERY different pic of Narset with a hair whip. If this is untrue and the character just looked like her I'll be relieved as the armored Narset looks much cooler IMO

Yeah, this dice rolling game is craps.

    Clever!

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the points go 3, 9, 13, 18? This seems set up to ensure most people walk away with a "land" which is as of yet unspecified. I personally would be much happier if promos were simply for sale at the prerelease in a limited quantity. If for example the Alt-Art Ugin was 79.99 and each store had, say, 10 of them...

That doesn't sound very inclusive. Magic is a game, and like all games, survive by initiating new players who generally (at first) aren't gonna fork over a lot of dough for a chase rare. But we do like to play cheesy games where everyone has at least a small chance of scoring big. The game already has enough barriers for new players, we don't want there to be monetary gatekeeping for the gimmicks as well.

Akki_Akki personally can't wait till March 6-8 when we get Magic Origins preview(s). Hopefully it has Legend and/or Walker. That way it will silence 2 of the 3 sides for this argument.

Side 1: Double-Face Card of Legend and Walker
Side 2: Legends that fetch Walkers
Side 3: Legends and Walkers that are separate cards and don't fetch either.

Akki_Akki apologize if Akki_Akki come off as rude but Akki_Akki tired of cycle of arguing thats been going on for pages and pages and pages throughout this thread.

    Quote from Taran Zhu »
"Every reprisal is itself an act of aggression, and every act of aggression triggers immediate reprisal.
You must break the cycle. Walk away."

and so Akki_Akki shall walk away from this thread for Akki_Akki have no desire to keep cycle perpetuated.

So Say We All! may we listen to the counsel of the wisest of Goblinkind.

um guys, no offense but this argument is kind of silly. Not that I don't agree with one of ya'll but at this point it's kind of like arguing with a rock. No, the rock has not the intelligence to allow it to consider budging but it isn't exactly intelligent to argue with with the rock either. I'm not going to designate who the rock and other guy are but i'll let ya'll figure that out.
(And I mean this in the best possible light. If you want to consider yourself as the more intelligent one, fine but there's no point arguing any more.)

First of all, it is waay too early to tell,
Secondly, you actually gave a perfect example of a two-act block in ur explanation of Return to Ravnica,True the block was comprised of two large sets and a small set but it was storyline-wise a two-act set.
I am also worried about this but we cant really say yay or nay yet, especially with how real storyline-significant content is now being shown through the Uncharted Realms. With the new focus in Uncharted realms we may actually get real story content with each set

I think this conflict exists perhaps because your values are different than that of a character such as Dromoka. Try not to paint the character with that which we have no evidence to suggest. It's okay that you disagree with it's world-perspective. Quite frankly I'll miss the black aspect of Abzan too but I kinda like Dromoka's black and white (Not speaking mtg colours here)idealism towards life and death. its kinda refreshing, as I sometimes think society purports a lot of moral relativism these days. that's my two cents you can disagree, but lets not be disagreeable.

  • posted a message on Clans lose a color in DTK
I wrote this post in a different thread but it is relevant here too. This is a time travel story with a logical, narrative-driven answer. What happened when Ugin was killed in the now nullified KTK timeline? The Clans took over. What happens when Ugin lives? (aka Current Timeline) The broods dominate and now lead the peoples of Tarkir. There will be no more clans. There will only be the allied coloured broods.
A hint of this truth- read the flavor txt of the new Hordeling Outburst promo for March. Notice how they are called "Kolaghan Goblins"? We have pretty sure evidence that the broods have no other members in their ranks other than dragons so what changed?
    http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/arcana/january-through-march-fnm-promo-update-2014-12-31
I suspect that without Ugin's death the Dragons successfully enveloped the clans to the extent that they will effectively be part of the broods, Therefore dropping the possibility for the enemy color in thier identity.
Another way to think about it is this: Perhaps the clans adopted the enemy colour as a reactive step to eliminate a weakened enemy, the mirrored ally-coloured dragons. I.e. The Jeskai adopted the chaos of Red to combat the superior intellect of Ojutai's brood. The Mardu adopted the social stratification of White to combat the chaos of Kolaghan. The Sultai took up the lethal viciousness of Green against the sneaky nature of Silimgar's Brood. The Abzan used the domination offered by Black to eliminate Dromoka's kind, while finally the Temur added to thier arsenal the subtle trickiness of Blue to counter the Predatory nature of Atarka's brood.
notice how each of the enemy colours is as much of an enemy to the allied colour broods as they are to the clans whose centers naturely are centered on allied parings as well. just a thought. It's OK to disagree, its childish to be disagreeable.

Edit: Due to further Revelation from UR, it is confirmed that The enemy colour was already present in the clans previous to Ugin's being saved. so I was wrong in my colour adoption hypothesis.

Also from Doug Beyer on Tumbir:
Q: Hey Doug, the flavor text on the promo version of Hoardling Outburst mentions Kolaghan Goblins. What is the relationship between dragons and goblins on Tarkir?
    -troublingpath
A: The Ugin’s Fate promo booster contained some alternate pieces of art and flavor text for Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged cards. Some of those cards contain hints about what might result from Sarkhan’s time traveling, in a version of Tarkir’s history in which dragons did not die out. There’ll be more to say about this once we get closer to Dragons of Tarkir!

EDIT: A few other promo cards are releasing that have new creative in that same vein as the Ugin’s Fate booster, where the new art or flavor represent hints about what may come in the new timeline. The promotional Hordeling Outburst was not one of the Ugin’s Fate promos, but similarly hints at what may come.

Really don't like this week's UR. It's kind of forced to explain why Abzan will lose B in DTK, just like last week's Tasigur tale about Sultai (Nagas and Rakshasas abandoned the clan, thus Sultai lose G).

Why should the ancient spirits of the clan advice Daghatar to unleash hell against Dromoka when they perfectly know the clan will be destroyed by the fight in any case? That makes no sense, the dialogue between Daghatar and The Remembrance is pure nonsense.

You forget the inherently selfish nature of the black aligned Spirits. Yes they desire the continuation of the clan but on the premise that such continuation includes them, the dark heart of that which is Abzan. To put it simply, The Remembrance are like a strange mix of both The Obzedat and Conclave, Invested in the prosperity and continuation of the clan, but intent on keeping traditions that include them as having a central place in the hierarchy of power. Without the "necromancy" the spirits are no longer an integral part of the clan.

The Abzan are my clan, My colours, my wedge. Although I understand what Daghatar did as necessary, I mourn the loss of the shadows. Perhaps I am not as purely Green/White as I thought. I found this story bittersweet to say the least. The Remembrance seemed more concerned with the continuation of the clan's traditions (And their existence therein) than the clan's survival. Selfish, which is what made the entity partly black in alignment.
