Sep 12, 2017lajube posted a message on Changes to MTGSalvation User AccountsI have a twitch account. I don't like linking accounts because if twitch gets compromised (and every major account system eventually gets hacked), everything gets compromised. And then what? I might create an extra twitch account just for this, but I don't think that will really help.Posted in: Articles

Untested, but the thinking is, my deck plays really well when I stick any of Aethergeode Miner, Decoction Module, Fabrication Module, Winding Constrictor and have a bit of energy.
So Servants give us energy and mana, splashing blue gets us more card draw (Siphoners were great when they lived but often died too fast) and with 8 card-draw sources I should be able to quickly draw into some power combos.
No maindeck removal on the theory that apart from Heart of Kiran, they have to stop my game plan more than I theirs. Against mono-red, hope to just clog the board, not sure that's a viable plan but we'll see.
Running my energy combo I'm in a slightly different position from others here, and for me overall the deck feels fine. It's very weak to Second Approach, competes well with Temur/Black, haven't played enough Red aggro to judge, and mostly good against the rest.
Other than that card, it looks very nicely aggressive, but I don't think Attune belongs. Slip Through Space is a good card to play here. Also Spellweaver Eternal.
The Sultai deck looks fine but it feels too all-in on the spells thing when only 1 creature really cares about all-spells. Get a power-player in there like Longtusk to take more advantage of your constrictor, and then again Slip may be a great card. Or else go deeper with other spells-matter cards like the Riddleform.
I think you still misunderstand something. Hostage Taker+Panharmonicon exiles two creatures until Hostage Taker leaves. But when it leaves it will return those 2 creatures. If you have 2 Panharmonicons, you will exile 3 creatures until then. If you have 1 Panharmonicon and 2 Hostage Takers, I don't see anything special happening. 2 do not "slowly wipe all the board". The best you can do is remove 4 things. Which is still pretty good, but it took 3 cards to get there and is nothing crazy.
With 3, you get this silly play:
1st, exile two of their things (or your things).
2nd, exile one of theirs and your Hostage Taker, they get their 2 things back.
3rd, exile your Rogue Refiner and your second Hostage Taker. The first Hostage Taker comes back and triggers, you steal your third. This returns your second, and Rogue Refiner, drawing 2 cards and completing a loop.
To be clear, Panharmonicon is a fun card, but it doesn't do all that. It does nothing for Walking Ballista because it's not a trigger. Nor is Winding Constrictor. But you are right that Rogue Refiner will draw 2 cards and gain 4 energy, and Rishkar will lay out counters on 2+2 creatures.
P.S. Still rocking the combo list. Fabrication Module and Decoction Module surprisingly put in a lot of work. You can actually get away with running up to 4 each and come out ahead in the long run.
Nick explains Visionary Augmenter, probably work trying as presented. I also have a thought that Legion's Landing might be an excellent option. Oviya definitely should be tried. You can never feel bad about 1-drops being targeted for removal as that's almost always a win when it means your Angel of Invention lives because they ran out of removal. Heroic Intervention is an option, but the deck is blue so Negate might just be better.
Sanctuary is great if the deck is like Temur Energy. You don't have to commit 3 mana to start, plus a G every turn for draw, and they are loaded with targeting effects (lightning, abrade, Glory Bringer, Chandra, Confiscation Coup). Ramunap Red would draw you so many cards with their "can't block" effects, it wouldn't be hard to draw a lot of goods.
If there's a UW Approach deck that's all about counterspells, Wreckage and Fumigate, then Sanctuary seems useless. Also a deck that ignores your creatures won't do well with Sanctuary. Bestiary is fine against control and grindy matchups, but terrible slow against aggro decks.
Overall, I think I'd usually prefer creature-based draw power. Rogue Refiner, Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, Card-Draw Raptor. Just hope the latter comes down to a reasonable price soon.
Incidentally, had a great night with the energy-combo deck I posted. I misbuilt the deck with only 12 green sources, but with the exception of those games where I failed to draw my green, I smoked the field. Temur Energy, RG dragons, 5-color control all got run over by creatures who got big fast.
