My take on this deck will be sort of: Ramp to eldrazi with some untap effects to store mana. Am i missing some vital cards from this list? This was thrown together quite hastily.
(I know there's 101 cards ((including commander)) but i was in the process of removing cards)
So, im branching out to Kruphix, God of Horizons Eldrazi (atleast the big and cool ones) EDH. I think it can be cool. I usually really dislike UG but this feels sort of right.
I got one short game in with the deck today. I started, land Mana Vault go.
Player A goes land go.
Player B is monoblue Azami + counterspells. He playes island + Mana Crypt.
I draw Geode Golem and play it, hoping he won't have a counter and sadly he did. If he didn't have that Mana Cryp! But oh well. Then he chained a bunch of timewarp effects into a win.
In my meta I can't afford to use Emrakul politically.
It's the same as when I Mindslaver. I aim for someone with a strong position but with a way I can then wreck that player too.
Token decks with sac outlets for instance.
I smash up my other two opponents and then make the controlled player sac everything they have.
Or that typical Narset, use their infinite attacks to exile their library by attacking the other two players. Then in their next turn right after, draw dead!
Or the standard thing of waste his removal spells on random junk.
If you know your opponents decks well enough (and at this point I do) use their game winning turn to kill everyone apart from you!
Or my number one favorite thing to do. Path their own commander and declare 'it goes to exile' hahahaha
Of course, when i end up in that spot and i remind myself that yes, i can exile their commander for good! Its so evil and soooo good!
Emrakul is amazing in multiplayer when it comes to politics. Have wrecked many boards by helping one player and basically giving them a timewalk.
But yeah,i know about that difference when it comes to our kozileks.
You need to hunt the dead card.
When you're playing are there any cards that are in your hand that you can cast, but get pushed back for better ones?
You're looking for the cards that get passed over turn after turn and maybe only see play when you have too much mana to actually spend.
Try to forget 'that time when you cast card X and it made a huge impact and won the game that one time'. That metallity ruins your objectivity.
Or another technique I use.
Shuffle up the nonland cards in your deck and draw five cards. Take the two least effective cards and put it on the table. Put the other three in a separate pile.
Do this over and over putting the worst of five in a pile and the rest separately.
When you've gone through everything do it again with the pile of the worst.
Keep going until your pile gets smaller and smaller until you've weeded your way down to the last five of so cards.
Odds are, the one you should take out is one of those.
This technique only works if you know your deck inside out and know every interaction of those cards with the other cards you have.
Then the last thing you ask yourself when you have the cards you're looking to switch: Is this better or worse than the cards I'm replacing it with?
This isn't a bad way of doing it. Im just really attached to my cards. Sure im sort of spiky, i like good plays and powerful cards, but i also like the more casual aspect. In my case yes, maybe i should remove one of the bigger bombs and just play my commander more often. But yeah i'll have to look it over.
Im also gonna see if i can get some cards altered.
I got a Geode Golem and a Transmogrifying Wand. I didn't know what to remove from the deck, but i thought i'll just switch out Blightsteel Colossus and Tangle Wire.I didn't want to remove Tangle Wire, but it was just for 1 day. I still don't know what to remove, but i'll look it over sson. HHowever I never managed to draw any of the piece tho.
EDIT: After i got beaten by Yasova until i had 20 commander damage, i would've loved to keep blowing up his commander.
Geode Golem seems much too important to this deck strategy. Being able to circumvent the casting cost of Kozi seems like a pretty big deal.
Its difficult to replace cards now days. But yeah, i think it could be a good silverbullet. Attacking a nonprotected player and cast kozilek. Not too shabby.
Based on my experience in MTG Arena, The Immortal Sun isn't particularly awe-inspiring or impactful enough to even warrant a side-board inclusion anymore. And if the card isn't being played in a 60 card format, I'm hesitant to give it dedicated deck space personally.
I feel like its a sideboard card. If you have opponents that love planeswalkers,i can see it being really good. Atm, I have Staff of Nin in that spot.
Also, a "problem" is that well, its mostly EDH cards, which does not always have a spot in other formats. I did a fast scan through and there's not many staples that would/could be moved and be played outside of EDH. You do have as you say and from what i can see a few more expensive cards.
But often times when you look at these prices, i think you can sometimes add or subtract some percentages.
I didn't know what to switch for the Kyren Toy in my list, but i figured i could switch out Mind's Eyefor it and see how it'll work. Sadly i only got 1 game in tonight with the deck and didn't draw it. We played with two beginners, figured i could show it off but chose not to keep playing the deck just in case i would destroy them too much haha.
What do you guys think about Mind's Eye?
I guess im in a different position since im playing Kozilek V2, but it would be cool to hear what you guys think.
@forgek I managed to snag a Alpha Basalt Monolith during a time it was going for 10 dollars haha. Thats how i solved the problem with not being able to get a foiled one.
I've also put an "order" on the foiled Kyren Toy. Its cheap and oh so pretty. The Immortal Sun is bad in our meta. Our Meta is mostly a bunch of goodstuff decks that MAYBE has one Garruk and a JTMS. I think its much better to have access to one of the new removals i got. Staff of Nin would get the cut for it i guess, since it draws cards and cheapens the cost of spells, but Staff also works as removal and combopiece.
And to both you and @Rasputin101 , we all seem to foil out this particular deck haha. Im missing 8 cards atm, i could make it completly foil now but the unfoiled cards are so good haha. Sadly i had to "downtrade" my Alpha Mana Vaultfor emergency cash. But oh well.
@Rasputin101Batterskull is there because of that reason yes, it combos with the Engine, its a repeatable blocker and lifegain. Plus its something that eats an edict effect, which is good if i have kozilek out and don't want to sacrifice it.
Plus, thats also one of the reasons i have this kozilek. Sure, i can win really early and take over the game with cardadvantage and counters, but the games usually used to go to mid/late game pretty often. Thats why the lifegain could be quite appreciated. Also, it powers up Inkmoth Nexus for a eventual kill, it isn't that situational of a solution.
Also thought the same about Spatial Contortion, but i felt like a answer during another players turn or the controller of the creature i wanted removed could tapout. Also my meta runs quite a few 3 and less toughness creatures.
Btw, finding a foiled Ward of Bones was a pain if you don't want to pay unnecessary prices, atleast it was for me at the time. Its from Eventide, a small set that didn't get a huge printrun. I found it in a shop somewhere and of course they wanted quite a penny for it, but i managed to get the price down somehow.
And yes, about Tabernacle, that was also such a thing of why i didn't play it. And reminding the players that the upkeep cost is in play, the accidental slips of them forgetting and then you gotta remind them that their board should be dead etc. Not all that fun since it takes away from the atmosphere, depending on opponents of course. Recently i haven't really played with the group im most comfortable with.
Before when i had the transformative sideboard for swapping out the kozilek versions, i mostly swapped out certain typical The Great distortion cards for Mana rocks and a wee bit of more staxy pieces.
EDIT: Took some inspiration from your use of fonts @forgek
This is my list so far. It has produced some good results, i really like the protection aspect of the newer Kozilek. People are really scared of him resolving, some games i just take over.
And yes, it isn't all in on that gas and i bet it differs a bit from your list.
And i don't really cripple one opponent too much. But i can switch between them and thats the plan im going with.
Sadly i had to sold my Mana Crypt, but im thinking about getting a foil Kyren Toy. I had it as a proxy once and removed it since i only wanted to play with cards i have. And its great that it still taps for 1 mana without counters.
What do you think about Foundry Inspector?
Im was thinking about adding a Spatial Contortion, then i saw the Transmogrifying Wandand tought: How could i miss that? Seems awesome as removal. I'd rather let them have a 2/4 token than a Azami in play.
Btw, Karn, Silver Golemhas been pretty darn sweet, i missed the old guy. He unequips pesty artifacts, kills artifactlands and Mana Crypts and he can add SO MUCH POWER to the board if he resolves.
Since im a colourless player in all formats, i have a bunch of cards i have access to, like Ward of Bones and other staxpieces. I'll write up better a list when i can or something. (((SOME OF THEM ARE WRITTEN AS MAYBECARDS IN TAPPEDOUT)))
"We colourless players need to stick together and something that's good for me is usually good for you."
Of course! Yes, i will tinker a bit with a post.
inspiring statuary can work with any artifact. You can tap a sol ring to it if you want to (however dumb that would be). LED works great as it can generate 4 mana total or just 1 when you need it until you need to sac it in for the 3.
Oh, i know it does, i just hadn't looked properly at LED for a looong while. I thought it was a tap and sacc but its just sacc so yeah, 4 mana!
My take on this deck will be sort of: Ramp to eldrazi with some untap effects to store mana. Am i missing some vital cards from this list? This was thrown together quite hastily.
