What a disappointing day of spoilers.

Just wait until PAX East later today. Modern Masters goodies and good DTK cards are coming.

Yeah I feel really stupid for not remembering the Pax panel. Fingers crossed for some fetches in a few hours.

Hey Guys, when is the best time to pick up Thoughtseizes? Generally speaking, prices tend to go up in the Feb-May period (might have seomthing to do with People getting tax Returns or something), but Theros is rotating soon, ight? Will the pize fo Thoughtseize go down after otation, or will it continue to rise since it is a Modern and Legacy Card as well?

On Tasigur, I am going to get my playset now. That Cards will see a lot of Standard Play over time and is allready picking up in Modern.

always buy 1 or 2 month after rotation, they always fall (sometimes almost nothing).

I would buy 'seizes right now. It's played in a lot of maindecks and sideboards in Modern and Legacy, and once packs of Theros aren't being opened anymore (due to it rotating out of Standard), I feel like it will definitely go up. It even went up when KtK was printed, due to it not being drafted anymore.

Force wouldn't be that good in Standard and it barely even has a home in the current modern meta game. I don't think they would reprint it but I don't think it would break the format.

What's anyone think are the odds of a Phyrexian Obliterator reprint? I'm kind of not seeing it, but I'd really love to see it reprinted.

It makes sense if Dark Confidant isn't black's mythic or if it returns to rare.

I always play with eight colored cards mainboard and I am doing great with 16 lands.
Have to say I do not play the Master of Etherium mainboard or sideboard.

I think that in the meta currently this is a mistake. I've found that Etched Champion usually just doesn't get there.

Oh ok I see what you mean, like Stensia Bloodhall, Moorland Haunt, etc?

In my opinion the closest thing to "Real Control" that exists currently is UW Tapout Control or Esper Control with WSZ. Those decks play most like the Standard decks of the season past, and that combination of lock out answers and inevitability is what I think control should look like.

What rare lands are people feeling for this set?

For some reason I'm thinking we will see utility lands. There was an article (a flavorful story) that talked about Sarkhan's time walk into DTK and they mentioned some places with artworks of Ojutai's Roost and things like that. They were kind of interesting... idk if it meant anything but the art and names kind of led me to believe there could be something.

Do you mean like enemy manlands? Lands like Yavimaya Hollow? We know there's going to be a cycle, and I can't think of many true utility land cycles.

I've found that Tron is easy to beat because you can usually just sit on a counter spell for anything of theirs that actually matters and then just wait until you can combo.

there's just no way Zen fetches are in this, that would be too insane, even for wotc. I mean let's look at the price of khans fetches, and that set is the most opened in mtg history (again). If they're in, it would make the msrp for mm15 look like a bargain. They gave us shocks in a standard legal set, and now the allied fetches, wouldn't it make far more sense that zen fetches are in DTK instead?

But if it turns out that they are in mm... oh boy, count me out of this format forever. Better rename it legacy 2.0 as well.

It is possible they don't want the Zendikar fetchlands in standard at the same time as the other fetchlands, but I agree that a reprint in DTK is better than MM2. MM2 needs reprints like Mox Opal, Serum Visions, Fulminator Mage, Cryptic Command, Daybreak Coronet, Inquisition of Kozilek, Noble Hierarch, and the filterlands

The filter lands hadn't even occured to me. I think that they will occupy the slots they want being taken up by rare lands, as well as being another big seller, due to their usefulness.

I was just agreeing with you that it probably wouldn't be problematic in Modern.
Ah, thank you then. It's just that I was focusing primarily on the original rationale as it was basically all based on theory, and, as I said, rather flawed theory.

Yeah I see how my comment is probably erroneous. I agree with that point too, although I do understand why WotC might want to err on the side of caution.

Oh, right. The same "professionals" that completely missed Cloudpost and Rite of Flame when making the Modern banned list, thought Bitterblossom and Valakut needed bans, hit Bloodbraid Elf rather than the correct Deathrite Shaman, needlessly banned Wild Nacatl, and somehow took over three years to figure out that Golgari Grave-Troll was innocuous.

All of this presumes that the format never changed or evolved, which it did. And no they aren't perfect, but even if the interpretation is that they missed a few other spells, it doesn't make your argument any stronger that AV is totally fine. If a TEAM of people who created the game and who likely put at least some effort into testing Modern are prone to missing a few issues from time to time, what does that say about your ability to analyze a card based purely on theory?
You're the one who brought up the fallacious argument to authority in the first place. I merely showed why your argument from authority is a bad argument, because the authority/professionals you cited have clearly shown to not be as good at evaluating cards as you seem to think they are.

Funny you also reject "theory" when it was completely theory that got Ancestral Vision banned. Not to mention, very bad theory, i.e. citing its play in Legacy but missing the fact the whole reason it saw play in Legacy was Mental Misstep, which was banned in Modern.

Though if you want to play the appeal to authority game, I should point out two things:
    1) You're saying Wizards disagrees with me. Have you talked with them? Have they stated such a thing? One can claim there's implicit disagreement in that it hasn't been unbanned, but one can point out that this can only be "confirmed" every ban announcement, and that unless they make a statement after an announcement, their position is unknown. So unless someone actually states they think it's too powerful and won't be unbanned anytime soon, you're doing worse than committing the appeal to authority fallacy: You're appealing to an authority that actually didn't say anything that confirms what your claim is.
    2) Randy Buehler, former developer, advocated an unban of Ancestral Vision during the Grand Prix. This actually provides stronger support, considering it's something that was actually said rather than something that was assumed, as it was for you.

It also seems worth noting that AV sees success in Legacy due to its pairing with Shardless Agent in Shardless BUG. I can't think of a competitively viable option in Modern that has that same effect.
I was talking about the original banning, where their rationale was it "making a splash" in Legacy. But again, the whole reason for that was Mental Misstep (as it gives you something to do for one mana that won't get hit by Mental Misstep). When Mental Misstep was banned, Ancestral Vision disappeared. It did later reappear due to Shardless Agent, but that (1) wasn't a factor in its original banning, at least in the rationale given, and (2) is a card not legal in the format anyway.

I was just agreeing with you that it probably wouldn't be problematic in Modern.
