Personally I think that there should be a Tier 0 with BGx and Affinity. Those two decks will likely always have significant representation in the metagame (I would include Twin as well but due to the general fragility of combo cards in a quarterly ban system, it seems like a mistake) because of BGx's versatility (see: Little Kid) and Affinity's blistering speed. Other than that, it just kind of depends on the ratio of control:combo:midrange. These decks might have different names but they all do approximately one of those three things.
Casey Laughman, a writer at SCG, talked about a deck he calls "Stupid Human Tricks" that is basically a hyper aggressive 5 Color Humans deck. This is the link to the article, if you're interested.
EDIT: It's actually 4 Color, no blue. It pretty much only uses 5 color lands though.
Favorite Playstyle: Control, Combo, Extremely grindy midrange decks.
How Competitive: FNM's possibly larger tournaments if I get the time.
Favorite Cards/Colors: I prefer esper colors but I have next to no interest in green.
Budget: Non-Issue

Ideally i'd just want to play an updated for modern Esper Control List from the INN/RTR standard but I know that isn't really a thing at all.
So Esper isn't really a thing in Modern, unfortunately. People have been trying, but to little success. With respect to grindy decks, you've got:
Abzan Midrange
Jund Midrange
Jeskai Control
4C Gifts Control (WUBG)
Jeskai is the only deck that's not green based, and it's also a control list and not a midrange. There are some midrange versions but they seem to perform poorer than the control lists. Abzan is also one of the best decks in the format, while Jeskai is not that good. You can certainly play Jeskai, but I wouldn't choose it if I had the option not to. If you want to actually win, you might need to suck it up and play Abzan (a green deck), because the good midrange decks in this format are green.
You could try Ad Nauseam/Unlife too. It's a ridiculously fragile glass cannon but it is insanely fun to play when it works. And it has a winnable matchup against every deck besides Burn and Affinity which you can sideboard for.
I'm not 100% sure that Allies will actually make a return. It seems that they were pretty tied to "Adventureworld" which Zendikar stopped being in ROE, when they disappeared.

I had hopes for a multicolor Ally Commander or two, but like it says in the flavor text of the promo All is Dust: "'The emergence of the Eldrazi isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as you've already lived a fulfilling and complete life without regrets.' -Javad Nasrin, Ondu relic hunter". Life on Zendikar as we knew it is probably over, with only the landscape able to mount any resistance.
ALSO: How do people feel about Gideon being on Zendikar? I'm pretty sure MaRo talked about how he liked introducing Gideon in ROE, I think it was on his podcast.

My favorite card will forever be Woolly Thoctar. The first competitive deck I ever played was Naya Midrange in Shards/Zendikar standard, and sticking one of those guys turn 3 was a very good sign for the game to come, plus in my opinion he's the best vanilla creature ever printed. Slap a Behemoth Sledge on him and it was hard to lose.
Tezz has been tested on and off since Affinity's inception (he's a staple in the Legacy build). He's too slow for aggro builds.
