Feb 3, 2014cannspec posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite Magic card? Well, I haven't been playing for long, but I have to say it's Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. She's expensive, yes, but well worth it. She cuts damage to you and your stuff in half, and doubles all damage dealt to your opponents and their stuff--even if that source is a permanent you don't control, like an opponent's Firedrinker Satyr. If that wasn't good enough already, she also has flying and first strike. The only thing I can think of that would make her even more awesome would be vigilance and haste. As a commander, she's incredible--give her double strike and you're attacking for 20 commander damage in the air, nearly enough to be lethal. Gisela is truly incredible, and probably one of the most powerful cards that has ever existed. (Notice the "probably"--yes, I know about Tarmagoyf.)Posted in: Announcements

Which is funny, because Shock is in Standard. (Ba-dum tsss)
No, this would actually be pretty bad. If it returned the cards to the hand, maybe, but even then it probably wouldn't be better than just more burn.
Sometimes, if I have a curve with three 1-drops, I'll play out all three before casting the Eidolon. It really depends on what you're playing against, though.
I assume Searing Blaze still comes out? And probably a couple Rift Bolts or Lava Spikes, to make room?
EDIT: Actually, how good is Eidolon in this matchup? I think it's better than it is against ETron, but still not great.
Basically, it uses Serum Powder to dig aggressively for explosive hands, and takes advantage of the synergy between exile-from-hand cards (it also plays 3 Gemstone Cavern) along with Eternal Scourge. It's reminiscent of the Colorless Eldrazi deck from Eldrazi Winter.
If we're talking about Jeskai, I don't think you really want to board in Path. More burn spells are usually better.
The trick to fighting against control is to sandbag cheap burn spells until you have enough to bottleneck their blue mana. Lowering your curve can help with this; for example, I replaced a Lightning Helix with a Shard Volley in the deck that I took to GP Phoenix in anticipation of more control decks. With Jeskai Control in particular, graveyard hosers can pull a surprising amount of weight post-board, especially Rest in Peace and Grafdigger's Cage. Hope this helps!
It seems really interesting. It looks a bit too similar to Bedlam Reveler, but I think it could easily succeed where Reveler failed. Definitely worth testing.
