As pointed out in this article, both Temur Energy and GB Energy are minimally affected by rotation. They are both midrangish and might suit you.
Otherwise, Aetherflux Reservoir Combo and New Perspectives Cycling are combo decks that you might prefer that are minimally affected by rotation.

Valanarch posted a message on Huey/Dewey/Louie confirmed new PlanePosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from VegaTDMFrom Maro's tumblr.
lemidget42 asked: "Can you tell us if Huey/Dewey/Louie is a thematic block or a mechanic block? Like, Innistrad/Theros was thematic while Ravnica was built around the mechanic of two-color."
Maro: "I can only restate what I’ve already said because it’s too early to talk about Huey block. It’s a new plane, it’s bottom-up design and there is something special about the block structure.
I believe you all are really going to like it so I am quite eager to talk about Huey block, but you all will have to wait a little longer."

That's too bad. I was really hoping for a Return to Dominaria. -

Chilling Apparition posted a message on Ignite Your Spark ContestPosted in: Submit NewsQuote from XenphireAnd here's thread for proof that Magic players can tend to take themselves wayyyy too seriously.
It's not necessarily that, I actually love comedy, especially satire, and would love to see someone make something funny out of Magic.
But...what's the joke here? It's supposed to be funny, but....there is no joke. A guy takes his shirt off to try and dance at an awkward moment? Chandra accidentally burns paper? I got a chuckle out of the split second shot of the lady licking booster packs to seal them, but otherwise....cringe hard
It's just...not funny IMO...and it feels forced, especially with Felicia Day in there, which makes it even worse. Like, "well I like MTG and this video is supposed to be MTG comedy so I guess I need to laugh at it"
I think this sums it up:

I have a difficult time with a T2 Martyr putting my opponent at 30+ life, he almost never T1 Martyr becasue of Lightning Bolt. I'm not sure how popular lifegain is in the current meta but at my LGS, I know 2-3 people who play it. I was thinking of adding Skullcrack to my SB.
I think with U/W control, I need to get Defense Grid as an answer to counter, same as Merfolk.
Vs Martyr, side in all your Bolts, maybe Echoing Truth if you suspect RIP/Rule of Law/Relic. This is a good matchup for you; you goldfish faster than them and they lack hate against you. If they're at 30 life, you should still be able to beat them relatively easily if you have an active Ascension.
Vs control, it's a terrible matchup. The best you can do is side in Empty the Warrens, and anti-counterspell measures like Defense Grid, Gigadrowse and Spell Pierce. Don't side out Pyromancer Ascension.
Vs Merfolk, side in Bolts and Echoing Truth. Despite it being a blue deck, it actually has quite few counterspells. The speed at which it can deal damage is a bigger threat than the counterspells it has to break up your combo. -

Shadowclaimer posted a message on [EDH] Samurai CommanderWell I'm going to attempt to convince my playgroup to let me build a custom WRG commander to lead a Samurai-themed EDH. So I need as much feedback as possible on this to help it become as Commander-worthy as possible. As well as balancing it for its cost and such. The issue I hit was that I wanted a commander in either WRG or WRB for the sake of making a Samurai deck, however there are only three WRB commanders and there are more WRG commanders but still none of them tend to hit the theme or support it either.Posted in: Custom Card Creation
So I set about making a custom one, I dropped B in favor of G for Isao, Enlightened Bushi (wasn't really a fan of the black Samurai in the set, and they were no big loss and Isao helps out in a lot of synergistic ways). I wanted him to be a "Lord" so he'd improve other or become better because of other Samurai so I debated a Bushido X or an "aura" effect (IE: Samurai get ..) and settled on Vigilance because its synergistic with the Block/Be Blocked bit of Samurai and helps enforce the board presence Samurai bring to the table.
Notes:
-I contemplated giving him Bushido X (for the # of Samurai you control or some other effect) but that proved hard to balance based on his base cost.
-I may remove the "other" from the Vigilance clause
-Other keywords instead of Vigilance could work, or additional ones, Vigilance just seemed like the simplest (since Samurai gain on Block or being Blocked)
-A tap effect of some sort might work as well for him.
Maybe something like "Whenever a Samurai creature you control is blocked or becomes blocked, ~ gets +2/+2 until end of turn."
V1:
Hiromasa, Bound yet Free 2WRG
Legendary Creature - Human Samurai
Bushido 2 (When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn.)
Other Samurai creatures you control have Vigilance.
3/3
V2:
Hiromasa, Bound yet Free 2WRG
Legendary Creature - Human Samurai
Bushido X (When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +X/+X until end of turn. Where X is equal to the number of Samurai you control.)
2: Target creature must block this turn if able.
3/3
V3:
Hiromasa, Bound yet Free 2WRG
Legendary Creature - Human Samurai
Bushido X, where X is equal to the number of Samurai you control. (When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +X/+X until end of turn.)
2: Target creature must block this turn if able.
3/4
V4:
Shifted to black to support other Samurai (and it was almost impossible to find solid artwork that worked for all three colors).
Hiromasa, Bound yet Free 2WBR
Legendary Creature - Human Samurai
First Strike
Bushido X, where X is equal to the number of Samurai you control. (When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +X/+X until end of turn.)
Hiromasa, Bound yet Free must be blocked if able.
