The card would let little to no light pass through depending upon the light

It had been in my narset EDH deck up until about 2 weeks ago, I thought about that but I could just never tell if there was a window for someone to do that I don't think there was a time in the past 2 weeks that anyone would've had the chance

Alright here is the whole story.

About a year ago I took a trip to Charlotte for the GP that was there (Modern). At some point in the weekend, I believe it was a Saturday (not entirely sure what exact day) I took a stroll to SCG's "booth". I say "booth" because it was seriously like 10 booths in one formed in a circle at the center of the convention center. I had about 3 binders worth of bulk rares and a standard deck I was itching to ditch to pick up cards that I could use. So I sat down with one of SCG's buyers and bulked it all out. I can't remember exactly how much I got for everything but it was around 300$ credit. I decided it would be best to get something that would be difficult for me to get back here in Arizona. So I decided on a blue dual. That blue dual was a volcanic island. I asked about the different prices based on conditions and the price wasn't that much different between all of them so I asked for just the best condition from revised. I got one and got a few other cards that I needed and was done. I put the volcanic in my Narset EDH deck (because I'm a filthy EDH player at heart).

Fast forward a little less than a year. I took apart that EDH deck and threw it into my binder. From there I went to DSG to play some modern yesterday. While there I met a really cool dude when playing (forgot to ask his name ) and after he grapeshotted me for ungodly amounts we decide to exchange trades. He wanted my Volcanic, and a plateau that I had. I agreed since I wanted to pick up the last cryptics I needed, and an expedition he had. We worked out the trade on my paper and we have both cards a quick once over for authenticity. Then we finished the rest of our rounds and we agreed that we should have one of the workers at DSG inspect both of them closely. He checked the plateau and it was good. Then he checked the volcanic...

The volcanic that I got from SCG was fake. I thought a mistake was made at first because I've felt the card before hand and it never felt like other fakes that I've touched before. But when I did the light test on it, it didn't pass. I compared it over 5 times to other duals that I had and where all the others passed, that one just failed. It was faker than (Niki Minajs booty). I felt a mixture of both anger and embarrassment, I asked my friends if SCG reimbursed for this type of thing and my friend said that he doesn't think they would. So I completed a smaller trade getting rid of my plateau. I left with just a disgusted feeling in my stomach. It was like the feeling I had when I had one of my decks stolen, that feeling of just taking steps backwards in progressing your collection.

Now that it's the day after I still feel disgusted but now I can talk about this without swearing like a sailor. And now I'm trying to think about this situation logically. It wouldn't be worth it for SCG to intentionally sell fake cards, however it could accidentally happen. However it shouldn't happen accidentally if you're SCG, a multi million dollar company, you shouldn't allow fakes no matter how convincing to go through. So now I ask everyone is there any chance that SCG reimburses this because if not then I'm going to do to it what I do to any fakes that I pick up (all I do is just write "fake" on the back of the card and use them as proxies). And finally just be warned it doesn't matter how reputable or "official" the seller is always check a card for authenticity thoroughly and never through just feeling the card.

I would like to know where you're pulling the 20% of the meta from, since in MTG Top 8 pod never went above 11%, but that wouldn't be what the forum subject is about so I would need to create a new forum lol.

So having interactive diverse, toolbox sideboards that keep your opponent on their toes is bad for gameplay? Also Burn in conjunction with other variables is keeping control out of the format.

So burn is allowed to police the format, but birthing pod was banned when it did the same? Pod punished strategies that were too linear and could be shot with a silver bullet. That's why Bloom titan wasn't ever as popular/good as it is now, seems a bit unfair to me especially when you consider the complex gameplay and skill level required for the pod player to police the format as opposed to a burn players required skill level.

    (On the play)
Turn 1: Steam Vents tapped Opponent Turn 1: Fetch, Shock, Mystic Monastery Swing 1
Turn 2: Misty into a Forest,Cast Tribe Elder Opponent Turn 2: Fetch, Shock, Suspend Rift Bolt, cast Bump, swing for 2
I block and sac with tribe elder getting basic forest.
Turn 3:Island, Cast Baloth, Pass. Opponent Turn 3: Plays a land. Riftbolt baloth, Searing blaze baloth, baloth, L.Bolt me, Swing for 4 pass

Turn 4:Compulsive research, Stomping ground Opponent Turn 4: Boros Charm, Lava Spike, GG
    Shock, L. Bolt monastery pass.

And storm involves complex gameplay in which you must be able to mold your hand into the ideal hand, and then attempt to go off through any interaction from your opponent. Scapeshift is literally just RUG control that has a kill condition in the form of 1 card.

But if burn is close to 100% against those decks then wouldn't that show that the decks is leading to very poor gameplay? Typically I don't like to play games (not just magic any form of game against someone) where I'm close to 100% sure that I will lose.

No I haven't been to ManaWerx in a while I play mostly in the east (Mesa, Gilbert, AJ) valley but will occasionally will drive as far out as tuscon/ Avondale for events. I was playing MTGO modern single matches and got run over 2 rounds in a row by burn.

Most modern manabases aren't to greedy though, at least compared to what was happening about a year ago with 4 color decks showing up such as Kiki Pod, Jeskai Ascendency Wish Combo, and Spirit Jund. I play matches where ill deal at most 2, 3, sometimes only 1 damage to myself Il play a side board card but they'll end up winning with no cards in hand. Also need to include that whether or not it is oppressive is of course debatable, however what isn't is that I feel like that the deck offers poor gameplay (i.e. repetitive games, uninteractive games, games coming down to virtual coin flips, etc.

So I (sadly) have been matched up against Burn quite a lot in modern the past 3 months or so both in real life, and in MTGO. Burn has beaten me about 90% of the time it seems (I play Storm, Grixis Delver, and Abzan CoCoCombo in real life, and scapeshift in modern). Every time it beats me the game goes the exact same way... they just count to 20 by intervals of 3 and sometimes they'll play a creature or two, and sometimes ill gain a "little bit" of life through a kitchen finks/ obstinate baloth, but in the end they'll still just empty their hands on me and ill lose. Personally from what I've witnessed burn is to oppressive because its incredibly consistent, every game is just a clone of the others. Turn 1 suspend rift bolt. Turn 2 rift bolt you for 3, Spike you for 3, Bump you for 3. So is it like that with you guys to when you play against it as well? I also support my claim that its to consistent with the fact that I've rarely ever had my burn opponent mulligan, they always keep their 7 and play the same game as usual....

So is it the same for you guys? If not then how do you usually win against it? And if its true then do you think that the deck needs to be nerfed?

Because it will be to advanced for most newer players and also potentially to expensive as well. For returning players they should own cards that have risen in price overtime to help pay for them, but if they choose to not keep their cards then its just the price that you pay.

I live in and play in the valley of Arizona (Phoenix area), and I have played everywhere in it all the way from Apache Junction to Avondale. The meta out here feels pretty healthy, there is a nice amount of brews, but a pretty high amount of infect, scapeshift, and Tron, with Merfolk and Splinter Twin being by far the top two decks I see the most. So if you please could give a general area youre from and how the meta is in that area. Smile

Blood Moon, card is honestly very awkward and unfair (ive been on both sides of one). You play it and both you and your opponent have an awkward atmosphere afterwards because you know that you're probably going to win a game easily, that you might've not won at all without it.
