If I have an athreos, god of passage and pulmonic sliver in play and another non-token sliver I have dies, do both triggers activate and do I get to choose the order to stack them?

If this is the case, I would choose to stack the triggers pulmonic sliver then athreos, god of passage so that athreos's trigger resolves first and if my opponent chooses to pay the 3 life to let the creature go to the grave then the pulmonic sliver's trigger resolves and I can put it to the top of my library.

Looks like someone tried to buy out Tarmogoyf and stopped because they forgot about this weekend. I heard a rumor that WotC will refill stores requesting more product if they order direct through them and not a distributor. Can anyone confirm?

How can u tell someone tried to buyout the goyfs?

  • posted a message on HELP: Storage for Expensive Cards
This thread had some interesting suggestions

For my particular situation, instore expensive cards in a penny sleeve and then in a top loader and then i have a clear plastic box made for storing top loaders upright. I then place this storage box in a lock box with those silica packets.

My question is, do you guys feel storing expensive cards in a penny sleeve and top loader is good enough? Or would it be a better idea to use a kmc perfect fit first then place that into a penny sleeve or standard sleeve and then in a top loader?

This thought came to me because i was thinking that the penny sleeve and top loader arrangement isnt air tight. Using a perfect fit and penny sleeve might be airtight but using a perfect fit and standard sleeve is definately airtight. And to me airtight would be the best case for longevity. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this?

    Thanks

Prices down to 245 now. Nearing my average of about 233 a box.

Where are you seeing this price for pre-order? I've only seen pre-order sales on ebay which is about $250. I have not seen any online retailers doing pre-orders and from what I've been seeing many stores will be holding their inventory to have drafts. Is this the same for other people's experience?

  • posted a message on How to decide on number of lands for edh deck?
Thanks for all the input and suggestions guys. I updated the first post with deck manipulation, card draw and filtering cards i am also using.

I bumped up the count to 34 lands plus what ive listed in the first post. I am going to playtest this and adjust accordingly as many of you have suggested.

I appreciate the input. Though there are people who might feel much of this info is obvious i did read alot of different ideas that i did not think of so thanks for that.

    It depends on your deck.

I've found that having around 40 lands works pretty well.

For you personally, do you lower that number as you add in mana rocks and/or land search?

Just wanted to know how everyone decides on how many number of lands to have in their edh decks? It is based on your commander casting cost plus the quantity of your highest casting cost spells?

I hear many people saying around 40 lands but you can reduce that when you add in mana rocks/land search cards.

For reference, i am putting together a nahiri deck (new white commander 2014). I have the deck at 33 lands plus 6 mana rocks plus 7 land search cards.

    Mana Rocks:

    Thanks for the help.

  • posted a message on Collectors! What binder do you use?

Currently, I'm using an Ultra Pro Pro Binder for my collection and I like it quite a bit in terms of design and such. However, I do have a few issues, the first being that since it's a side-loading binder, even though my cards are in sleeves, some of them are slipping out. This worries me because I'm afraid one of the cards is going to get damaged by me turning the pages and not realizing a card has slipped.

I have this same problem as well. I have ultra pro 4 pocket side loading binders and put in cards sleeves in ultra pro ahiney (non matte) sleeves and they slip out of the pockets.

Have anyone experiences this problem and found a solution to this or is it just the ultra pro binder pockets have too much space?

Can anyone share their experience with the decktutor four 2.0 (side loading) binder and if they have seen a problem with sleeves cards falling out of the pockets whem turning tbe pages?

As much as people 'hope and pray' that P9 prices drop, they won't. They're blue chips, if you are thinking of buying them, buy them now, the longer you wait the more expensive they will get.

Sure you can pick up beat to crap P9, but the primo stuff is just 'going away'. I know. It was hard, but I had to just bite the bullet and buy the primo graded stuff (so I'm biased of course!). This is not a 'quick flip', in 5-10 years, these prices will look stupid cheap.

U bought graded power or ungraded power? I was wondering if it be worth it to try picking up say sp-sp minus power to have the potential to play vintage going forward. Especially before prices get too crazy like they seem theyre heading. Could you lend any thought or ur opinion on this?

    Quote from Brentane »
I have almost 3 complete playsets of all KTK fetches since the release of Khans of Tarkir. Although, with recent people telling me it'd be more cost efficient to only owning a single playset of each fetch, it got me thinking if I should trade them or keep them. If I trade them, it'll be when I want a few Legacy staples. Keeping them would just mean I would not need to keep switching lands around. What do people think?

I think around 2 sets for ur own use makes sense depending on how many decks u play. Any extra i would have in my trade binder to possible use to get other cards u need or to hold until the price starts to rise

I think shocklands are going to go up.
And fetch lands are going to drop

What makes u say fetches will drop?

I think alot of you guys have made good points. One thing I want to point out to the op is that if you dont own a playset that you want to have to at least use in decks, now would be a good time to try to negotiate the price seeing as most people feel they will be reprinted. I would use that to your advantage to try to get the price down. This is assuming you're trying to get that one playset for use. I of course agree with not trying to pick up multiple playsets as it doesnt seem like a good investment.

As for the reprinting of goyf and that reserved list part 2 comment. There were alot of good points made and in the end the game is both a playing card game and a collectible card game. In my mind wotc knows this and the best way to try to caster to both is to have goyf reprinted in a set like mm2 and not in a standard block to help control the price. I can see wotc getting the price down with the print run they choose for say mm2. But thats just my opinion. I do understand many people cannot drop $170 for one card but looking at it many people will say they cannot drop $50 for a card. I feel the price of goyf is out of hand and its worth more in the $50-$75 range but even if the price gets down to that, people will still complain. So in the end theres really no way to win.

And the comment made about yugioh is absolutely correct, I use to play a few years ago and basically quit because konami would reprint everything into the ground. I didnt have a problem with the reprinting per se but then they would use the ban, restricted list to make the decks you had put money into not good anymore to make room for the new sets with new hot expensive cards. I guess they would intentionally shift the meta so the expensive cards are what you needed to be competitive and the cards they reprinted and were accessible werent what you needed anymore. It was that combination that made me walk away from the game. If they were just doing reprints and makeing decks more accessible then thats a different story. I dont know if anyone else had that same experience with yugioh. I played during the time of dino rabbit, wind-ups.

  • posted a message on [[Official]] Modern Prices Discussion
With all the talk of reprints and such, I was curious if anyone knows of whats the soonest wotc has reprinted a card after its initial printing or reprinting? For example many people are saying cards reprinted in modern masters have a chance to be reprinted again in modern masters 2. Since modern masters was printed in 2013, does it seem realistic that wotc would reprint something again after says 2 years (assuming mma2 comes out in 2015)?

And was the idea behind modern masters to drive the price of modern staples down or to try to increase access to certain modern cards? I understand that modern masters was a test but I figure there must of been a lot of thought on what they wanted to accomplish for at least future mm sets down the line.
