I'd rather go 2-2 with a tier 2 deck I love than go 4-0 with a tier one deck I don't enjoy (Burn is probably the best example there).
I love decks that are based on cool synergies and interesting interactions- of the tier one decks, the only one I'd enjoy would probably be Affinity, but I'm not that much of an aggro player anyway. I've also got and enjoy Amulet Bloom, but it's a stop-gap deck for me at the moment until I finish Loam Pox in paper.

Nixernator posted a message on Current Modern Banlist Discussion (1/19/2015 - 7/13/2015)Ban Bolt? Unban DRS? Ban Snapcaster Mage? Unban Jace? This is literally the limit, I think there is no hope for this discussion.Posted in: Modern Archives
I like to think I always reason my suggestions with criteria and past bans/unbans, but the quality of discussion has spiralled. When was the last time someone actually posted a decklist or reasoned with something other than 'it's broken because it wins'.
I stand by my Amulet Bloom comments, but I admit I underestimated the prevalence of Ghost Quarter at the GP in response (my god did I think that card would never be good enough for modern) and Fulminator mage (combo with Khommand).
Anyway feel free to continue arguing about your insane bans and unbans. Peace.

Besides, WotC is pushing the format in a direction that works for me.
I agree that it isn't much of a problem. I am just saying that anyone who would play that kind of a deck should know that those decks are not fun to play against, do not fit with how Wizards designs cards today, and really shouldn't complain if their deck gets banned when it is something like Eggs.
That's a big generalization. I never play combo decks but I really enjoy playing against them (except back when Eggs with SS was popular online. Ugh!). The fact that you don't like those matchups is fair. But you're not speaking for the whole community.
I rarely hear people say they enjoy playing against non-interactive combo decks, so can you tell me why you like it?
Because non-interactive combo decks don't exist. Unless you count "stuff you can't Bolt" as non-interactive. Some of my most memorable games have been against Storm. The complexity of knowing when to activate Ooze and what to eat, when to hold up Snare, what to take with Thoughtseize, whether to counter the rituals or something else excites me a lot more than Decaying a Goyf and then bash. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way (at least what I gather from other posts in this thread). -

Spellshock UR
Instant Uncommon
Counter target spell unless its controller pays 2. Spellshock deals 2 damage to that player.
Won't be happening any time soon. But seriously, why is this rare, why is this so expensive, and why won't Wizards make good counterspells?
for the same reason they wont make effective creature kill or land d - people dont like playing against it
^ A thousand times this, wizards has eliminated any alternate way to play the game, no combo, no LD, no good counters, very little good discard, and now decent removal is at a premium and wraths start at five mana. All because entitled little brats complain about losing resources and only want to turn dudes sideways. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
