Desecration Demon would be terrible against this because the deck would be pumping out lots of tokens. Scryfest is the scariest card for this, since it would take out a combo piece and the tokens (providing they are unbuffed), but there isn't a true board wipe in black.
Ahh I see.
A Doom Blade or a Thoughtseize will obviously throw a wrench in that plan but against removal-light deck this could actually get out of hand really fast.
Spot removal wouldn't pose too much of a threat since two of the three pieces of the combo are value generating on their own and the other isn't a creature.
I do have some reservations about all the sweepers that are available, but I think all of the other synergy that could go into a deck like this could overcome them. Heliod, his Spear, Path of Bravery, etc could provide some resilience. Splashing Red could give access to Purphoros and Assemble the Legion and Boros Charm.
God-Favored General
1w
Creature — Human Soldier Uncommon
Inspired — Whenever God-Favored General becomes untapped, you may pay 2{W}. If you do, put two 1/1 white Soldier enchantment creature tokens onto the battlefield.
Someone had to be the first to attack, but he was not alone for long.

It seems that this cycle is being overlooked. This one in particular seems like it could be fairly strong with the right support. Example of a possible engine powered by this:
Wh... no. No it is not. Punisher mechanics allow your opponent to choose the between effects. This ability only takes away choices the opponent would normally have.
Yup, you are right. I misread the card, have been looking at a lot of punisher mechanic discussion and am just generally tired. I still say that this is a disappointing card however. It has protection from sorcery speed targeted removal, which is totally irrelevant. It also has not quite unblockable. Stormtide Leviathan saw no competitive play and had more upside than this. I will add the caveat that this is a different Standard and it is possible the ways to cheat out a big blue thing like this (Arbiter of the Ideal, for example) may turn out better.
Disappointing. It is another big blue sea creature that has a poor ability that could have been good if it hadn't been walked back a bit (Colossal Whale, Shipbreaker Kraken, etc.). This has hexproof, but loses it in the most relevant situation. The second ability is also a punisher, though not a terrible one.
It has an ETB that is relevant greater than 0% of the time. It will see at least some constructed play. I doubt it will be a major player, but maybe if a good reanimation spell is printed, or another good form of recursion...

Turn 1: Land, Springleaf Drum
Turn 2: Land, God-Favored General
Turn 3: Land, Ajani's Chosen
Turn 4+: Profit
Thoughts, concerns?

So a (possibly) better version of Bob?
