Anyone have much experience playing vs Eldrazi Tron? I'm going to be attending a couple tournaments soon and I hear the meta in Montreal is full of that deck. I'd love any play advice, sideboard suggestions or anything else that might give me an edge in the match-up. Thanks!
Havent played against it yet, but i am building it.
Hi Everyone I wanted to know if you think that mox opal may be banned soon with the rise of Cheeri0s. I really hope not, but am worried and am thinking of possibly getting rid of my play set (which, of course, would destroy my beloved affinity deck..). Very sad about Cheeri0s deck, but I have a feeling they won't just ban sram or retract...
Unlikely, and zero chance because of cheerios. Deck is a flash in the pan. It is too fragile to put up any competitive results, no better than UR Kiln Fiend decks, but with weaker creatures.
If they're going to ban anything from that deck it would be one of the engine pieces; Retract or Puresteel Paladin
I can tell you that academy Ruins and Inventors Fair are too slow. Affinity will lose the grind, so you gotta go fast and hit em hard. Sea gate Wreckage I am unsure about as I havent tested that, but it showed up just for a little bit in sideboards and even that has been gone for some time now.
Have had good results with Sea Gate Wreckage. Only once have had it and coloured spells stranded in hand. Drawing 2 cards every draw step is a good way to catch up when you're in top deck mode
I gues the your biggest concern is Ensnaring Bridge. We can beat this card with Signal Pest along with small creatures and manlands or by moving Cranial Plating to other creature during combat. Ancient Grudge from sb also helps.
I wouldn't count on Stony Silence because it wrecks us too and it's only good against them if you draw or play it before they have lock set up otherwise they won't let you draw it.
Stony Silence suggestion was satirical. I played against it before and just got wrecked - opponent had the soft lock set up by turn 3 both games - was locked out pf getting interactive spells and 0 power creatures in game 1 and then locked out of coloured mana in g2 with a Ghirapur Aether Grid and Pia's Revolution in hand
How have you found Pia's Revolution? Any interesting interactions other than Ravager shennanigans?
No data yet. The only time I drew it I was too close to winning to bother with it. When I needed it (Grixis Control), it was not to be found.
Ok. So i sold put of mtgo about 6 months ago to buy a vl turbo. At the time i was considering keeping my affinity deck and selling the rest, but decided i shouls just sell the lot, as the *buy list* price for my deck was around US$700.
Yesterday i prices up how much it would cost me to buy back in to it so that i can get some practice in for the upcoming GP - AUD$360! Hoorah! I sold out at the right time. A
Also got to test Pia's Revolution.
Happened to be on a board with t1 memnite, ornithopter, springleaf drum, blinkmoth and signal pest. Signal pest gets bolted. T2 i play glimmervoid and Pia's Revolution, opponent spends a while reading Pia's Revolution and then bolts the memnite.
T3 i play Ravager and another memnite.
My opponent cast snapcaster mage and then doesnt bolt (mistake maybe?)
My turn 4 i cast another springleaf drum and then start saccing my ornithopter with opponent on 13 life (combination of fetch, shock and hits from memnites and ravager)
Opponent thinks/reads for a bit and then gives me the ornithopter back. Repeat this about 4 times. Opponent then realises what is going on and takes the 3 damage (to 10). I then sac the spare memnite and the springleaf drums. Ravager is now with 8 counters & i have a memnite to shift the counters to if need be.
I attack with both ravager and memnite and my opponent chumps ravager with snapcaster and gets knocked down to 9. Pass turn and they concede with my lethal on board.
Testing is not conclusive, but it is certainly an interesting card paired with a ravager - keen to test it out some more
Starting to see Bitterblossom making a regular appearanve in affinity sideboards. Great card in a vaccuum, Just not sure where it fits in or comes out of the sideboard rather. What matchups would you want it in for?
I would like to have a basic island in the list for 2 reasons - too many paths and ghost quarters in the current meta & be able to cast Master of Etherium through a Blood Moon/Stony Silence more easily
Havent played against it yet, but i am building it.
Blood Moon looks to be absoulte mvp
No, wizards hates the asia pacific region, so gives as little coverage as possible
Cheers. Finished 9-5-1. Will do a tournament report later - pretty wrecked right now.
I faced;
2 byes
Ad Nauseum
Mirror
Breach Shift
4 colour midrange
Junk
Esper control
Melira Company
Day 2:
Zoo? With burning tree emmisary, goblin bushwhacker etc
Uwr control
Suicide Zoo
Merfolk
Bant Spirits
8 rack
There was a tonne of variery. Most people i spoke to had barely repeated archetypes they faced over the tournament.
Cheerios didnt get top 8, thank god. Wzds pls ban Retract

(In your main phase with a 0 cmc artifact on the field)
Infinite counters on arcbound ravager
Make infinite mana with a mox opal
Even life totals close to 3 can be pressured by sacrificing unneeded/multiple artifacts (preferably 0 cmc ones)
- Altar of the Brood to make it a hard lock win con
- Genesis chamber to make a million myr
- Grapeshot to the face
