So it seems that reanimator of many variants is becoming popular. A big problem I would like to note is Tidespout Tyrant... Probably Ashen Rider as well.

    I've been playing Lands for a while, however I have only run into Reanimator a few times. Our game 1 matchup seems to be a really low percentage, and the primary reason for this is because of the above two creatures they choose to reanimate. Our only real maindeck answer to this problem is;

    1) Hope they bin their creature on their own turn giving you a turn to transmute into bog

    or

    2) Run crop rotation and hope that the game 1 you play against them, you have a crop rotation in the opening hand.

Anyone have any input on this Match-up?

I liked the idea of top awhile back, and although it can be powerful, this is a deck that likes to tap out every single turn to use tutor effects, life back lands, and most importantly port the opponent. I would prefer the library and take the chances of dredging it for these 2 main reasons:

    1. It require no mana after the initial 1G investment.
    2. If you are using academy ruins to throw Top back on top of your library, you are spending a draw and mana resources to do so. More than likely, that mana and time can be better spent doing much more powerful things than recurring a Top such as tutoring up the DD/Stage combo, Tutoring up another port, making sure you get your land drops by dredging loam, ect...

However, this has only been my experience in testing with top

I would agree with sparki. Trinisphere is a house against a lot of decks. Establishing a wasteland/port lock with Trinisphere is usually all you need to get a game.

I don't think that's a bad idea or a good one. I've cut them before, I just like running them as a 4 so that the chances of me drawing a relevant turn 1 card are as high as possible against decks like Belcher/Oops All Spells. It's just a bonus when you play against decks like non-patriot delver and elves, where 90%+ of their spells cost 1 mana

The fact that Chalice will shut down more cards that your opponent has than you is what is important. In addition to this, most decks you bring in chalices against, whatever number you are putting it on, more than likely, the cards it's shutting off your opponent from are more powerful than the cards it shuts you off of.

    Storm combo are easy examples.
Elves, chalice on 1 shuts off their entire deck thanks to them moving away from the usual toolbox build and relying more heavily on the combo kill itself.

I stopped running Chalices briefly to experiment with different sideboard options, but the fact that chalice comes down turn 1 almost every game is just too good and powerful to give up

Hey all, my first real post on these forums. I mostly just look over this post (and the one on TheSource) for any new ideas or approaches people talk about on Lands. I've been playing it for a little bit over a year and a half. I've been working on experimental lists for a while. I took one to GP DC and it was way too inconsistent.

I recently did a write up on a local tournament I went to. It's a bit too long for this forum read, so it's on a google Doc.

Basically, I won all of our bad match ups and lost 2 of our decent - good match ups. My breakers were not good enough to get me into top 8.

I'm unsure if I am going to stick with crop rotation. 3 feels like too much. I only ever really want to see 1 in a given match up really and I found myself to be drawing multiples of them much too often. Since I've made the cut, I see them just the right amount.

Bojuka Bog is a great card, but I don't think it has as great of an effect that we want it to. I would prefer it to be a tranquil thicket, or bump up my groves.
