You cannot tutor him, or can you? Why running only 1 copy of gideon if it's a finisher that we cannot tutor?
Wouldn't Wydwen, the Biting Gale be a better finisher? It's hard to kill her, has evasion and we can tutor for her. It's outside the range of IoK, Smother, Abrupt Decay, Consume the Meek, we can get her to our hand before using a damnation/wrath spell. What do you think?

It's really slow and sometimes hard to assemble without being killed first, but assuming you can survive long enough, sure. That's the problem, though. This format doesn't have a lot of reliable ways to protect a combo, and therefore this deck is best off getting a win condition on the board as soon as possible to swing the game.

I understand, but the main problem with this combo should be thoughtseize I think, and maybe a counterspell on teferi. Because if we manage to land a teferi on turn 5 with a pool on our hand, we would basically win the match. Eventually we would clear the board and easily finish the match.

The deck would be played exactly as it is right now, controlling the match the best as possible, but instead of landing a finisher "when the match is controlled" we would try to assemble the combo pieces, that we can tutor with treasure mage + mystical teachings, as fast as possible (the best option on turn 6).

So, for instance, having 1/2 teferi, 2/3 treasure mages and 1 knowledge pool, while trying to keep the same control as we already have... I'll have to test it on mtgo:

This version is a more creature based than normal teachings (8 creatures), but i think it maintains the normal control, with a finisher (wurmcoil engine) and a combo/lock with teferi and knowledge pool that can be tuttored with treasure mage + mystical teachings. Is a different approach than normal, but maybe it can work (with some adjusts probably). What do you think?

I will try to test it in mtgo when I have the opportunity.

I have some questions regarding this deck.
Is it viable the use of the teferi+knowledge pool lock with this deck? Having treasure mages to help.
For instance, a 3rd turn treasure mage to get the knowledge pool (it can get a wurmcoil engine as well), 4th EOT teachings to get teferi, 5th EOT teferi, 6th turn knowledge pool. And it's almost GG. Can it do that? Do you think this might work? After teferi is on the board, we can also search for the treasure mage (if we dont have it), and conclude our combo on turn 7 or 8.

Also, as i read in this thread, the Tron is one of our biggest problems. But is Tron that strong versus this type of deck if, for instance, we destroy one of urza's lands and then use surgical extraction/extirpate on it? They will not generate that massive amount of mana anymore, correct? If it works, would it be ok to use some more tectonic edges?

Is it viable to use Cranial Extraction/Memoricide in sideboard? We can remove Karn in Tron, cards from a combo deck, etc...

    Thank you.

    Hi guys,

In time spiral block i did a UB Teachings deck and i really enjoyed it. I've decided to adapt it to Modern Format, and after some reviews on the cards and deck and currently the list is the following:

I like the idea of hand disrupting our opponent (7 cards), and a well placed 1st turn IoK could easily deal with goyf or bob. Esper charm can also help putting our opponent at top deck mode. After that (not only after, but ok), the 8 counterspells should deal with the rest.

What do you guys think? Which changes do you suggest? I've never tested this version of the deck yet.

    Thank you for the help.

    Best regards.
