Esper garyo might be a good direction for esper control?
I play + tune the esper transcendence for a while, and I still cannot convince myself this is a good deck in Modern.

Although the matches I watched of Living End were concerning, particularly how easily it seems to combo off on T3. Its basically a second Dredge at this point, albeit less resilient.

Well, less resilient... it has a lot of enablers, and Fulminator-recurring_Fulminator is actually hell for a lot of decks. It can be interacted on the stack, which is huge, but it is also more resilient against Dredge hate (think about Surgical/Extirpate: not great against them, while it can buy a lot of turns against Dredge).

Living end combo is super weak against remand. This is why it can never be a Tier 1 deck for many years. Now how many decks play still play remand?

I want lotus cobras, preferably the promo if I can find it, for knightfall. I have none and would like 2-4.

I rarely see people include lotus cobra in the knightfall deck.
Maybe you can skip this, or buy it with a lower priority.

Edit. I mean beating Ad Nausseam

Testing decks like Affinity, Burn, Knightfall. I'm finding Storm is a pain in the rear. It seems like Angel's Grace is the best option. Advice? Pact of Negation + Echoing Truth suck to deal with.

I do not think Affinity has trouble fighting against AD Nausseam.
Infect is the worst match up for AD Nausseam.
Following that logic, Affinity should easily win the game uisng the inkmoth.

I wish those people who believe Fatal Push will drop to 2usd can wake up.
This card hardly drops below 5usd.
I preorder 2 playsets, with $4 each, and buy two more playsets with $5 each after the release.
This is basically the PTE level you can see how much PTE is it now after so many reprints.

I mean is this even up for debate? How many 3 mana counters see play? From what I've seen exactly 0.

Well, I do see people including myself using Counterflux to fight against Twin in the past. But as you said, not a usual case Smile

There's a problem with Foil Uncommons from MM17: the ink is slightly smeared. That's one of the reasons for the lower values of IoK and PtE foils in MM17, compared to other printings.

    For example:

    Jesus! That's pretty serious.

On a different note: what do you guys reckon will happen to Bloodbraid Elf if/when it gets unbanned? It was reprinted in Planechase Anthology and EMA recently so there are tons of copies around (although I'm sure most people prefer the Planechase art)... will it go up at all? Just a bit? AKA should I get 16 copies?

    1. The price will go up if it is unbanned, but not from $2 to $10 due to the recent reprints.
    2. Getting 16 copies is not a big decision from my perspective. You only put $30 and the risk is so low.
    3. If you want to make a larger profit, you should put your investment on Zen fetch lands, or SFM, or Jace.

It only makes sense to test your home brews against the best out there. I use published winning lists to test for weaknesses in my brews and make sideboards. Why is it a problem to beat the spikes unless the 2 deck format is exclusive and nigh unbeatable?

Felidar and current design have made home brews almost obsolete. That likely produces some vitriol but personally I just quit playing standard waiting for the ban. Not just the ban though... they need to go back to balanced design. Standard is wide open again, and I'm sure lots of control will pop up trying to break in... but they need to follow through on their promise to fix counters and removal while scaling back creatures. And never, ever print another vehicle.
    Never.

vehicle is not a big issue for Standard as long as we have good INSTANT artifact removal.
Kolaghan's Command, or Ancient Grudge, anything like that will keep vehicle in check.

The issue of current Standard is not due to the threat, but due to the imbalance between the threat quality and the removal quality.

Standard is probably fixed now that CopyCat got banned,

It is too early to claim that.

And SFM didn't get unbanned. BGx decks will continue to be the only viable midrange decks in modern. Oh well.

BGx decks are certainly not the only viable midrange decks in modern.
For example, Bant Eldrazi and Abzan/Bant/WG Coco, both are good midrange decks in the current META.

exactly what I said a couple Months ago. It was obvious then. But now it's super obvious they don't care about blue and white. They could have easily taken action and Probably been fine. But they are too busy with standard. Modern is going the way of the dodo bird, it may take 10 years but mark my words it will be the next legacy. These eternal formats just aren't a big priority. And that's not something I want to invest several grand into.

    Can I have your cards?

But seriously, I dont understand how people can act so entitled. The format is fine. Its working. People are having fun. I understand people like you are grumpy, but dont make it seem like you're quitting because the format sucks.
actually the format isn't fine in a couple ways colour balance, archtype balance. wizards is not doing anything about it because standard is the priority (they literally just said this) . But continue to look at the game with rose tinted glasses. I've been SELLING my cards, as if I'd give them away....

There's nothing entitled about wanting a better balanced game. If anything your the one who is coming off as entitled and arrogant. Then again coming from you it doesn't suprise me.

Im arrogant for saying the format is just fine, and we should just enjoy it for what it is? Ok! Smile

Color balance. Again, nothing in the rules or promises says colors must be balanced in any format. MMORPGs cant even balance different player classes, and they can hotfix their games anytime they want. You think a card game that designs years ahead, can find balance in all colors in all formats?

    Please.

Yes it is arrogant to think things are peachy when stats prove otherwise. But that's totally fine as long as you don't force your opinion on others.

My statement however isn't an opinion it's a fact= colour imbalance, archtype imbalance.

Yea some games are badly managed that's my point. Others have balance.

You have the bar set low. Good for you. I on the other hand think that a game where a deck is 1k each it should be a bit better managed . some Free games are better managed than modern and standard....

Would you please share your anger or complain to WOTC directly, via Email, Twitter, or servery.
This might be more useful than doing the complain here Smile

Also I should say that people need to understand the whole picture with cards like Ancient Stirrings. I won a game during the beginning of Abzan Company because I cast a Collected Company that whiffed completely. I was in a grindy game with Twin and after missing on that CoCo, I hit 4 straight creatures, including 2 Kitchen Finks and completely took over. If I had to draw those 6 cards, I lose 100%. That was actually the best CoCo I have ever cast in any form of Magic with Abzan Company, although it was frustrating at that very moment until I drew creature after creature. Smile

I think this is the real power of Ancient Stirrings in decks that can use it. You're finding the one card out of the top five that will be useful soon, and even if you whiff you're getting rid of 5 bad cards. I've definitely cast Stirrings where my reaction was "Well, I'm super glad I'm not drawing any of those next turn..."

Granted, you might not get a great selection with that number of hits, but it's still quite good. 23 land+4 stirrings is strictly better than 27 land to hit your land drops.

This is not always true. Besides, your argument ignores the cost of stirrings: one green mana.
