SilvosRogueElemental posted a message on Eternal Masters ConfirmedWhat is the justification for the $10 price tag? Printing these cards costs no more than printing a regular expansion set and this set doesn't even carry the cost burden of development. This is pure greed. How am I even going to draft this set at my local card shops when it will probably end up costing $45 per person?Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

Niallplaysmagic posted a message on Current Modern Banlist Discussion (9/28/2015 update - No changes!)Guys - we just lost THE deck in the format and the deck that MOST effected how everything else is built and what is relevant. When you remove something like that you don't just see the decks it preyed on rise to the top. EVERYTHING changes. Everything. Now decks don't have to have mainboard answers to twin, maybe the dedicate slots to things like affinity or tron, etc.Posted in: Modern Archives -

How times changed.
From lawmaker to hippie girl who drags her girlfriend to weed parties.
This is part of the reason why Wizards keep making past cards (great, expensive ones) harder and harder to acquire.
Let us all presume the next printing of Thragtusk will be mythic too. Since the Thragfather is strictly better. -

I'm reminded of how much of a downgrade Avacyn 2.0 was. -

KnickM posted a message on [[Official]] Trade Evaluation -- Pile A versus BPosted in: Market Street Café
Pile A is nothing terribly special, but MP foil?
MP covers a pretty broad range of conditions, from "Yeah, OK I guess" to "That's really pretty terrible": http://www.starcitygames.com/pages/cardconditions
Foils are generally only worth a significant premium in NM condition, because the whole point of a foil is that it's shiny and cool. If it's all messed up, nobody's going to want it. There's a VERY small market for less than LP foils, so I can't in good conscience recommend trading for an MP foil, especially for a card that's only valuable in foil. I'd probably keep Pile A. -

KnickM posted a message on Best set for a beginner to buy in terms of valuePosted in: Market Street CaféQuote from Aether7 »Dragons is actually the best value unless you want to play the Jace lottery.
Having 2 high value mythics (Ojutai and Deathmist Raptor) with heaps of high value rares (Den Protector and Commands) and the fact it rotates 6 months later than Khans make it easily the best set for new players to buy if they want to crack some packs.
You're even getting value in the uncommon slot with Silkwrap and Roast.
Long term Atarka's Command and Kolaghan's Command are modern playable so will not lose value.
Snaps to Aether for actually answering the question instead of just saying no like the rest of us
Additional props for explaining the rationale behind why it's the answer. -

Bolas, the Mindsculptor posted a message on Comm 15 Decklists upFrom next year onwards, they should take out Sol Ring and start by actually designing a 99-card deck, not 98-card deck.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
I agree with most here. Lazy inclusions overall. This product was meant to sign off a relatively poor year on a good note. It shows how much disconnect there is between the people up there and Magic players the entire year. The only highlight IMO this year is Origins. A very well done product. -

You can get these at Walmart, so I'm not sure price-gouging is the concern...
You can in the US. I can't. If these were price gouged for any type of card, I'm screwed.
How many big box stores outside the US carry Magic? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Jace not in winning deck $80 sold out.
I'll never understand the psychology behind MTG price spikes. Some cards are just subject to hype supernovas.

Gerry T went 12-1-1. I stand by my hyperbole. I was wowed.

Yep.
The Eldrazi and Ally decks are doomed to become tier 2 trash and goodstuff.dec is going to dominate.
I'm willing to bet GBx will be the best deck by far. Either Abzan or Sultai. Maybe even splashing a 4th color that isn't red.
Talk about nerfing red by taking away Stormbreath Dragon and giving them nothing to replace it. Dragonlord Ojutai is the best replacement and you don't need red for that.
Every single deck will have 4 Hangarback Walker too.

It's a nod to the flavor fail of Pin to the Earth.

Without Emmy and Kozi the Eldrazi have spread themselves thin on Zendikar so even though they're turning stuff to dust the allies are able to band together and defeat them.
There's the flavor excuse however weak it might be but the fact remains that this is the big opportunity to print the sweet battlecruisers EDH Timmys love to play and they've been way too cautious. If things that cost 8-10 mana are really powered down then does it mean they'll be really easy to cast in standard?
I'd like to actually start playing with the set before passing judgement on the limited environment as it does look quite good.
It does seem like the quality of the rares is horrible but that's the usual these days. There will still be playables to be found.

I hate Mirran Crusader with a passion.

Now we see why she got the playmat.

Probably some sort of Sultai midrange but I really find it hard to see how this is playable with Dig Through Time in the format which is probably one of the best draw spells of all time. Seeing legacy play in the top decks and is banned in modern.

No control deck is tapping out to draw cards and then passing the turn. That's just daft.
