I'd love Wizards to print a card like one below - I think they would make us better without being overpowered.

    Elvish Medium - (G)
    Creature - Elf Druid
    Tap to add G
    Pay 2 life: convert G to B

    Elvish Séance - (G)
    Instant
Create a 1/1 Green Elf Druid token with Tap to add G

why would you want something like elvish seance? It seems worse than a classic mana dork

For instant speed. Could be nice to play it end of opponents turn and maybe avoid removal.

    True words,

but i ask myself what does clancaller better than visionary.

Visionary is never a dead draw, but clancaller is in certain situations
Visionary draws into my wincons ( Ezuri to trample over or SotP for the final punch, comapny lead the stampede)

I often found myself in the situation while testing clancaller, that i rather tap my elves for mana than attacking for two or three because i wanted to cast a lead the stampede or company for example.

Clancaller gives the elves some more aggro where i don´t see my deck at the moment.

I'm not telling you which is better. I'm just saying you have to compare them in response to someone who said they shouldn't be compared because they do different things. They are compared because they compete for the exact same slots. There is no room for both caller and visionary.

I think both can squeeze in, but at smaller quantities. Right now 3 Clancallers and 2 Visionaries has been working well for me.

Over the last couple weeks I've found clancaller to be more impactful than visionary overall. Visionary is a good card, and I still have 1-2 copies in my mainboard, but in my opinion she is not at the same power level as a 2-mana lord that can also provide card advantage and buff our board in grindy matchups. I believe clancaller is also a better hit off Collected Company, especially against the decks we race against, and lets us win games a turn earlier.

I also find visionary alone to not be enough for grindy matchups like jund, abzan, and other midrange decks. Sometimes I think 4 Lead the Stampedes maindeck is a better idea instead of 2 Visionaries and 3 Leads. Lead is the card that wins against midrange and control, where a 1/1 body that cantrips is just not enough.

    EDIT: added decklist

I like Freyalise. Tick up with a druid a turn is a good ability, and an underrated -2 as well. Ultimate isn't great but it's easy to get.

    Freyalise is not Modern legal.

I think he was responding to the EDH commander options.

Really seems to be a common theme that those who have played with the Clancaller believe it is a lot better than it first appeared it would be.

Reading the messages it seams that people that are happy with clancaller are also happy to have avoided Tron/Jeskay control

Aren't we always happy to avoid those decks? Even with Visionary over Clancaller? I think Clancaller improves the Tron matchup by making us faster. Jeskai control is tough, even with Visionaries over Clancaller. I'm currently running 4 Clancaller and 2 Visionaries and it feels perfect.

It's just preference, but after playing both I find Westvale Abbey to be more useful than Nykthos. I think 3 kitchen finks is a little much, I would replace one or two with Damping Sphere for Tron and Storm. I also prefer to run 4 blooming marsh instead of extra fetch lands, the life loss from fetches is relevant against burn, hollow one, and other decks that race you. Lastly, I always try to squeeze in an elvish champion in SB for going against green decks

I've been playing GW and GB elves for a while and just looking to mix things up with a G/W/colorless build - hoping to get some criticisms and suggestions from the forum here. I feel like Eldrazi Displacer could be useful mid to late game keeping GW combo pieces on the board, helping it grind a little better. It also keeps opponents creatures at bay, and can be hit off CoCo or played T2 with a dork. Could also run Thought-Knot Seer main or SB, along with Warping Wail in SB.

I'd probably swing with the following decklist - viability and criticisms would be greatly appreciated.

Clancaller best suited for Mono-G beatdown. Don't think it's better than visionary and especially not better than dwynen's elite.

How do I play against control decks? Do I flood the board as soon as possible and hope they dont have Supreme Verdict? Or should I just have a couple creatures and continue to ping them until they remove them, and then put another couple on and rinse/repeat?

I'd love to see an on tribe dork that makes G or B...would really love that.

there is one but it's banned, i'd say there's safe design space in ravnica to make another fairer edition of deathrite shaman.

Alternatively, you could go Arbor elf + appropriate manabase, so that arbor elf produces any colour of mana

I'll be testing Clancaller in mono-G beatdown elves, but skeptical of it being better than GB-shaman or GW-vizier builds:

    4x llanowar elves
    4x elvish mystic
    2x arbor elf
    4x nettle sentinel
    4x heritage druid
    4x dwynen's elite
    4x elvish clancaller
    2x elvish visionary
    4x elvish archdruid
    4x ezuri, renegade leader
    2x joraga warcaller
    4x collected company
    15 forests
    2 nykthos
    1 pendelhaven

Sick of getting my Elves killed by removal all day long, I bought this deck from a friend and entered a small tournament. Removal spells, here I go!
    Match 1
Game 1: I know the guy and he plays a sort of GW Taxes / Value deck. I keep a hand with Slipery Bogle and Auras on the play. Drop Bogle, turn two enchant double rangcor and then... FUUUU who the hell plays maindeck Ratchet Bomb!!? EEK! The bogle goes to the graveyard and I didn't draw another creature.
    Side in three Stony Silence.
Game 2: Hand of Bogle and auras again. He didn't have a turn 2 bomb so the bogle goes to town. Later he played a Spellskite which along some creatures makes stop my offense. Luckily I drew a Stony Silence and without outs he dies to the bogle.
Game 3: A double vial start and all gas manages to stop me, I tested the waters and indeed he had a instant Spellskite to take a Rancor for me. At some moment he only has the spellskite to block at 5 live and I Path it and put some Rancors, but the vials do a number with Saffi and Reclamation sage. There's simply too much EtB shenanigans and I didn't recover.
Never drew a Spiritdancer this match. Too bad, was looking forward to play her.

    Match 2
Game 1. This player has been piloting Elves as of late so I think this could be fun but then ARGH HE SWITCHED TO LANTERN!! Ensnaring Bridge is out and I have no outs. Side in 4 Leylines, 3 Stony Silence, 3 Seal of Primordium.
Game 2 I keep a hand of Leyline, three Spiritdancers, two auras and a land, confident on using the draws to offset his mill rocks. Five turns later I still don't draw my 2nd land. By the time I did he already has several bridges and a Pixis to avoid the Leyline. He manages to mill my Seals and I concede since I have less disenchant effects than the number of Bridges in play.

Oh Bolts and Pushs, where art thou?
Match 3. Amulet Bloom. First game he had a slow start and my Kor Spiritdancer gets massive a Titan gets tiny. I don't really have cards against him, decided to bring 2 Runed Halo to name Titan and a Worship to buy time.

Game 2. This goes long. He has a decent start of Titan and Ruric Thar by turn 4 and I have two paths for both of them. I proceed to make Spiritdancer big with Daybreak Coronet. Although he has double Reclamation Sage to take it out, I have another one at the ready with auras to pair it. Titan can't push through a 9 / 7 lifelink first strike vigilance creature and he succumbs. Later he shows me Cyclonic Rift, Back to Nature and Fracturing Gust in the deck.

I'm disappointed, all the control and midrange removal decks where gone since last time I entered. On another point, I fell in love with Kor Spiritdancer despite not having hexproof herself. Doesn't take too much to grow her to sizes that can't be dealt at all with combat and that feeling of play card - draw card is always heartwarming.

On another point, people HATE losing to decks like this and dedicates a disproportionate part of the SB to beat it. I guess I'll have to bring another deck next time to make them pay for that SB Back to Natures.

My two decks are Bogles and Elves because like you, I hate playing against spot removal Smile I find the GB variant of Elves just as good against spot removal due to the card advantage you get from Elvish Visionary, Coco, Lead the Stampede. The deck fares much worse against Humans, but against control I think it's just as good if not better.

    Hey guys,

Westvale Abbey vs. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. Which do you prefer for GB and which do you prefer for GW?
