REally? fetches and no tri color rare lands? dam wizards and his money grab reprints, this standard will suck. The rest of the set probably will be bad so they reprinted fetches just to compensate for it :/
With KTK/Duey falling off together, leaving Louie/M16 as a "block" in the new structure, there's a good chance that the five enemy fetchlands could be in Dewey. This will allow all 10 fetches to cycle-out together while leaving Dewey and M16 to do their own 10 dual lands.
This is assuming they reprint enemy fetches at all, of course.
Pile A - My:
1x Marsh Flats [Zendikar, Not-quite-NM]
Pile B - His:
3x Courser of Kruphix
+$5 evener in cards.
Is this a wise investment?
-Coursers are played in modern. Prices may go up, and I could possibly use them in standard.
-Marsh Flats, and the other fetches, have been speculated to be reprinted soon. However, The flats are at their lowest since the $55 peak in May. I'm trying to get a modern deck running but it's been slow-going, and this would dent my progress.
Hey there! Seeking some advice on my WIP Grenzo build. I realize that he's normally played in Goblin Tribal, but I'd like to try to cheat in some big bodies. This is more-or-less my second commander deck, and it feels a bit unfocused. If anyone could provide some suggestions, adjusments, or insight on synergy it'd be apprricated.
Oh, yeah. I'm 2-3 cards short of completing the deck but my mind's mush at this point.
Trying to figure out a WW or W/u aggro deck for M15 standard. Hell, I'd even be willing to try U/w or W/u control if you guys have anything interesting and pretty inexpensive.
Any and all advice if appreciated. I don't know which I'd like to play, so I'd like to trim the fat on both.
Admittedly, this one was is a Spirit-Bondified version of a list posted in the Competitive forum. I think with all of the one-drops, anthems, tokens, and Immortal servitude that this could be neat.
An attempt at field-manipulation! Use quickling for protection or Azorious Arrestor for the Detain and Spirit Bonds triggers. Amthems for the boost, Military Intelligence for Draw, and Charms for cycling or removal. I don't know how it'd work in practice, but again, it seems neat.
Win Condition:
Tax and control while dropping Herald or Ethereal Armor bombs when able.
History
Out of 6 Standards, deck has gone 5-0 once, 4-1 four times, and 2-2 once. I've played mostly everything but it's weakeast match-ups are MUD Aggro, MRD Aggro, removal-heavy Jund, U/W/x if I can't block Revelation Spam, or quick things with removal.
G/R Monsters, Simic, Bant, Naya, and anything mid-range or bestow-y seems to fold most of the time.
Cards I may Remove:
Obzedat: Proven useful against U/W/x Control, American Control, R/G Monsters, slower more drawn-out decks, and is fun to use with the Whip if I can get him out; he's a prime instant removal target. He's the first to go out against fast decks and I'm thinking about moving him to the SB full-time, removing him entirely and swapping out for a BBoV.
Athreos: A target for their exile effects, occasional swinger and pretty nice when I whip something in for the devotion. Despite drawing him most games, he's usually last to come out and first to be sided against faster decks; I've only ever had used his effect a couple of times, once against someone with a Scooze to no real effect. I WANT him to work but seems very disappointing and usually gets sided. I think I'd rather have two Master of the Feasts MB with a BBoV in the side.
Side Deck: Spoiled for long.
Erebos: for Control or slower match-ups with Life-Gain. Usually swap it in for Obzedat, Athreos, or Nyx-Fleece.
Fate Unraveler: See Erebos.
Thoughtseize: See Erebos.
Master of the Feast: For when Obzedat or Athreos seem lack-lust, or I need to fill some more creature spots. I'd really like them to be MB, but don't know what to swap out.
Obzedat: Situational. If I can fit it in I'll do so, assuming Fate Unraveler or Erebos isn't needed.
Drown in Sorrow: Mostly for Red or White Aggro, occasionally Blue if they're not playing Hall of Triumph. Typically take out a Banishing Light or a Brain Maggot.
Doom Blade: Aggro.
Hero's Downfall: Aggro or when Banishing Light doesn't cut it.
Decide: Enchantment decks or U/W.
Rootborn Defenses: Supreme Verdict Counter, typically swap in for Athreos; I don't think U/W players care about their life except in critical stages.
Crypt Incursion: There's two Golgari decks ran at my LGS and quite a few Scoozes in various builds, including Simic. Scrawed over a player who dumped with Lotleth Troll to bestow a Nighthowler, screwed Nyxweaver in Constellation, ect. Would kind of like two but need ot make room.
tl;dr - What MTG stuff do you carry, and what do you carry it in?
Typically, I carry a bit with me; I'm at my LGS most days out of the week. My single-sling Backpack, a leftover formw hen I was in high school, has grown insufficient for what I'd like to bring; it barely zips, and my binder will warp if its weight isn't rested properly.
My typical load includes...
1x Ultra Pro 3x3 Pro Binder
1x Monster Playmat Tube, with mat.
3x Ultra Pro Magnetic Flip Boxes
3x Ultra Pro Deck Boxes
2x Chessex Dice Sets, Cubes (36ct 6-pips and a set of 7 polyhedral dice)
1x Fat-Pack Box with 3x Dragonshield Boxes, pack of penny sleeves, and some toploaders. ...And on Saturdays I carry a Pathfinder book, box of pawns, dry-erase map and markers.
Truth be told, I was hoping to get some ideas of what you guys do. A cheaper bag that seems to fit my spacial needs is the ThinkGeek bag of holding, which should hold everything but my hardback PF book. Let me know what you guys carry!
Looked at some other decks for inspiration. This is for casual use. I'm new to modern and am looking for ways to cheaply improve upon it. I love the idea of Xathrid Necromancer and with Athreos coming out you could get more value!
1 Cartel Aristocrat + X Doomed Traveler + X Xathrid Necromancer = X zombie tokens + X spirit tokens + 1 unblockable Cartel Aristocrat . Then use Immortal Servitude or Orzhov Charm to do it all again.
Throw Athreos in there and you get some good fun.
I'd like to fit Grave Pact or Edict of Erebos in there, but I think my manabase stops me from doing that.
There may be "too many" 1-drops and not enough support, but having the targets for Immortal Servitude seemed like a good idea.
Any ideas welcome though I wish not to spend a ton on this deck. IF there's a "budget" or second string version of a suggestion, please let me know.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll check out different tribals and mono-colors for price's sake. While an idea from the start, I was hoping to avoid mono-colored decks because they seemed "too bland", but now that I think about it they'd more fit the build of a "theme" deck. I'll explore all the options suggested in this thread and try to make something nice.
At work and watching without sound. No spoilers thus far.
There are tri-color uncommon lands.

Gah. They listed 4 left, and when I went to order they were suddenly out of stock.
