Would a Mirror Entity fit in? Seems like a good way to pump your apostles and you can fetch it with their ability. Among new cards Ob-Nixilis, Unshackled Seems to be a nice toolbox-esque card. flash it in through the apostles when an opponent tries to search.

Take a look at some dredge-players for some tips on graveyard organization, they usually put the graveyard out in a line or two.

In the case of Death or Glory the order shouldn't matter though since none of the cards you rummage around returns to the graveyard when the spell has resolved.

Well in my example, the players would be quite literally playing incorrectly. But beyond that, a player who cannot accept/tolerate a completely valid playstyle has some sort of fundamental issue with the game. They have a problem that should be corrected. The best way to do this is to teach them the benefits of different ways of play. If they wish to not use them that is fine, but restricting them out of fear/ignorance/dislike/whining is never acceptable especially in a competitive tournament environment. People can be as wrong as they want casually, but when there are prizes everyone needs to use the correct rules.

In short, I take blue mana very seriously.

They would be playing incorrectly from the official rules standpoint. But EDH as a format encourages house rules and what if they simply are playing a different game than you? And if they have a fundamental issue with the game but have enforced house rules to change the game to their liking, why does it need to be corrected?

And you are saying that the best way to correct them is to teach them the benefits of different ways of play. But a) they might not want to be corrected and b) you opinion is that that is the best way.

You write that restricting thing out of fear/ignorance etc. is never acceptable but have you considered that they might simply restrict it because they want to play the game to have a good time and these restrictions helps ensure that they have just that?

Regarding a competitive environment with prizes, why do they need to use the correct rules? As long as the rules are clearly stated I don't see a problem. Iäve played Archenemy and unglued/hinged with prizes on the line. Neither of those qualify for any "correct rules" tournament but I have had incedibly fun while playing them.

Except I don't have any combo decks; Vorel is about as +1/+1 Countery as you can get, and Zur wins through Beatdown. My Kamahl, Pit Fighter deck that I'm working on is about as un-combo-y as it gets.

Which is completely irrelevant, I answered a comment you made regarding a no-combo rule with a post about combo decks. What kind of decks you play doesn't matter since yor question was if you would have to adapt to the consensus of the playgroup without all of them having to adapt to your personal opinions. A question where the answer is still yes.

A certain playgroup may ban any number of things: combo, cmc>5, Attacks during the first 5 turns, no mld or any other limitation they see fit to make the game enjoyable for that playgroup. If they as a playgroup has come to an agreement regarding rules why should you be able to completely revamp them because you want to play insertfittingwords.dec?

Go ahead and talk to them, try to convince them that your deck will increase the entertainment for the group or make a list of pros and cons regarding the rules however.

And I also get the feeling that you don't want to teach them not to be wrong, you want to teach them to play the way you like. And as I, yet again stated, previously: If they want to play the game in a way wherein you cannot derive any entertainment then find another playgroup., don't try to force the playgroup into your mold as that would not only ruin their game experience but yours aswell.

    Don't presume my intent.

Then feel free to explain what you actually meant by "teaching them not to be wrong". If you didn't mean that you should be the judge over what is right or wrong, in a format where right or wrong is subjective, in the playgroup and others should adapt and learn from you to play the game the way you feel it should be played then what did you mean?

So I have to care and adapt to the No Combo Rule, but they don't have to adapt to my way of play?

    Sweet.

Yep, pretty much sums it up. If you want to play with your combo-decks then find a playgroup that likes to play against them.

If my friends don't like playing with lands should I accept it or try to teach them to not be wrong? I guess not playing the game is worth it right?

Oh, you went the "let's make an extreme exaggeration that doesn't even have anything to do with the question to push my way of seeing things as the correct way".

If a group of friends/a playgroup doesn't like playing with lands and they have agreed not to play with them, why do you feel that you are entitled to play with lands when you play with them?

But as I stated before that is a terrible analogy. You feel that you should "teach them not to be wrong". The problem is that first and foremost "wrong" is a very subjective thing in a format that encourages house-rules.

I apologize if the text is poor from a grammatical or spelling point of view, english/american isn't my first language.

So it's ok for other people not to like how we want to play, but we can't not like how they want to play.

    Got it.

Of course it is okay for you to dislike how they play. But that doesn't mean they have to care about that and adapt their playgroup just to accomodate you.

    So, Boonweaver Giant.

a 4/4 for 6W that let's you search for an aura in your graveyard, hand or library and attach it to him.

How do you feel it stacks up vs. Auratouched Mage? 1 more mana to cast but you get a wider search and an extra +1/+1, oh and it's bolt-proof ;D

well you can always flash this torpor bird in in response to the creature coming into play. eg snapcaster mage on the stack, you flash in this torpor bird. torpor bird resolves. then snapcaster resolves and the etb ability fizzles. if you say "ok that resolves" and let snapcaster mage come into play then its too late.

Why would the lpayer playing against the torpor bird let the entire stack resolve before trying to bolt it? You are aware that each player gets priority after each spell on the stack has resolved, right?

arguably, but paying 7 mana for a single 2/2 flying deathtouch creature is insanely underwhelming.

Well, in that removal case you are paying 7 mana for a single 2/2 deathtouch flyer, 2-3 mana of theirs and one of their cards. Seems like a tad better deal then?

Quick question: Can you respond at instant speed to a planeswalker activation?

Yep, it works as any other activated ability except it's at sorcery speed and once per turn.

Kaervek the Merciless. You could give him infect to kill people faster, deathtouch to kill guys, lifelink to gain life, or even equip Umezawa's Jitte to get counters on it.

Just as a side-note Kaerveks triggered ability won't gve counters to a Jitte since it isn't combat damage.

A couple of things have been happening on Magic Online that seem non-intuitive and I am not sure if they are bugs or I am missing something.

First, the Daring Thief inspired trigger seems to say that if I and my opponent have a card in play that shares a type (i.e. creature, enchantment, etc.) I can exchange control of them. However I notice that if a card has multiple types (i.e. enchantment creature), MTGO won't let me swap. So the question is, is "enchantment creature" it's own unique type and things are working correctly, or is the creature both an enchantment AND a creature and the swap should be allowed?

Second, I bestowed Hypnotic Siren onto an opponent's creature enchanted with Aqueous Form. When I attacked with said creature, my opponent was allowed to scry instead of me. Is that correct? It felt like when I took control of the creature and attacked, I should be the one to scry.

    Thanks!

    1. It is both an enchantment and a creature and the swap should be allowed.

    2. Aqueous form doesn't grant the creature a trigger allowing the scry but rather triggers the scry tself. And since your opponent still control the aqueous form he/she will control the scrytrigger.
