Nicol bolas took the plane 60 years ago. 60 years before the Planar bridge was even a thing. He doesn't have any other known method of transportation across planes, and I may be wrong, but I don't think he even knew tezzeret back then. I know he works decades and even centuries in advance, but to suggest that moving an army off world was always his goal in nonsensical.
They're zombies coated in magical metal. Its not like they go bad or anything. Bolas has good reason to believe that he'll find a method of transporting others between planes, its been done before.
This plan doesn't sound very bolas. It sounds very, well, stupid. No matter his ultimate gameplan, destroying your own source of minions and cutting yourself off from suicidal suicidally loyal fanatics just seems really bad planning on bolas's part.
Seems pretty genre savvy to me. Wrecking the place makes it harder for someone to use it to make another army which could be used against him. He can always get a new army somewhere else.
Decent limit fodder. I am surprised by how much eternalize costs. I mean it's card advantage and makes the creature stronger but so it Undying and those card didn't have crazy high mana costs.

Noooooo! That's not true! That's impossible! He was supposed to destroy the archetype, not join them!
