Or it could simply say "only activate this ability if your commander is in your command zone" (not sure if in a 1v1 game of Commander there is 1 or 2 command zones) that way it's the same as a fetch land that are in high demand these days, but not at all that sought after.

I've always wondered: Why can't they print a Commander fetch land? Something like

" T: Sacrifice ~ search your library for a Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, or Forest card and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library. Only activate this ability if you control your commander."

Actually, considering BFZ will be the first 2-set block, it may very well be someone who is confirmed to be on Zendikar but not really in the new block. Atm we have to expect Gideon, Jace, Ob Nixilis, Chandra, Nissa, Ugin, Kiora, and maybe Sarkhan, and who knows who else.

I can't find the timing in the video where they say it, but what are Chandra's creatures? The phoenixes are obviously Chandra's Phoenixes but what are the other creatures?

Likely Regathan Firecat. It's flavor text references her home plane.
That's what it was, thank you. I can't remember why I wanted to know, but thank you.

I can't wait until the rules are posted, so to find out how mana and color identity works. I assume the mana system will be like loyalty from Dungeon Command, where let's say you played Chandra, turn 1 you'd get red mana turn 2 you'd get RR, turn 3 you'd get RRR etc

Well, unless the artist just derped, Elspeth is wearing her cloak. Since it is actually now in Ajani's possession now that she's dead, I think it's safe to assume A. This duel deck takes place before her death and is supported by major retcon. B. Perhaps in the Underworld Elspeth becomes a snapshot of herself and thus appears with the cloak regardless, and Kiora gets involved somehow. REALLY leaning towards A.

Guys, a Colorless Commander deck can't not have a Plains because it's a Basic Land - Plains or because it can tap for white mana it can't have a Plains in it because the rules consider the GiANT white mana as a normal white mana which is illegal in any deck with a non-white commander.

Creative will draw things out as long as they possibly can, no more than one step toward each Big Bad per block. The storyline isn't meant to be resolved. Both the Eldrazi and the Phyrexians are specifically designed to be easy to bring back and Bolas is too tricky to ever be properly defeated.

I see no reason why they wouldn't be resolved. Yawgmoth was killed off after a multi-year run. The Mirari was the driving force behind 3 blocks, but its story came to an end as well (though as far as we know, it's still somewhere in New Phyrexia, so maybe it isn't finished after all). The point is: Bolas and the Eldrazi both need to bite it to make way for new conflicts, new arcs, and new stories. The Invasion and Time Spiral blocks were both big climactic points in MTG lore, followed by time skips that allowed the story to reset and start afresh. If you don't give the fans some sort of resolution or payoff, then there's little incentive for them to keep them following the story.

However, it should be noted that MtG has the luxury of having isolated locations and thus many, many, separate subplots, so after Khans block, we'll be getting resolution every 2 sets, but I agree, hopefully once the 2-block paradigm kicks in, we'll start moving towards the multiversal threats by feet and not inches.

It's just one more poke in the eye to their older fan base that has stuck it put this long. Freyalise slightly makes up for it at least though!

We're getting a set that has a Freyalise PW and a freaking card for Feldon of all people, and you're complaining that older players are getting screwed just because you're not getting the one character you specifically wanted? 20 Dollar Bill principle in full effect.
I couldn't agree more. I'm personally happy that Jazal got a rather good card.

As for Red being an older character, it would seem even the Planeswalker Commander will be "Built From Scratch" since 3 are plainly from Magic's past, that would be Teferi, Ob Nixilis, and Freyalise. We know one, but not by name, that would be Nahiri, as the crew doesn't quite admit that we've already put 2 and 2 together. Another will be a newly introduced walker who hails from a familiar plane.

Since Gisa and Geralf, I think it'd be neat if the Green legendary was Cevraya, and she focused on Oozes.

No, Sifa is RB, though if the Planeswalker-Commander trend continues next year with 2-color characters, Sifa would be a candidate. My best bet is next year will have ally color combos, so W/U mana U/B mana B/R mana R/G mana and W/G mana with Sifa Grent as the B/R mana walker.

White: Serra. Every Magic player knows her name, even those not versed in the story. A lot of people want to see a card of her and this is pretty much her only chance.
    Blue: Teferi. Obviously.
Black: Ob Nixilis. Not every planeswalker is an old character from Magic's past, and in that case, Ob Nixilis seems like a good choice.
Red: This one I don't know. I feel like it's not going to be an old pre-mending character.
Green: Freyalise. Maro kinda hinted at her, and I know he is a bit more careful about not disappointing the players with his hints.

Basically, I feel like we are going to have 3 old characters, and 2 not-so-old/new characters. Black seems like the best candidate for getting a character that isn't a pre-Time Spiral one, as for white, red and green, I could be wrong. Maybe Nahiri will be the white planeswalker, but as I've said, this seems like the perfect occasion to get Serra on a card.
While it might cause imbalance towards Innistrad, but someone in another thread brought it to my attention that Tovolar would be an excellent choice for Red legendary, since it would also solve the Legendary Creature - Werewolf hopes, and needn't be DFC because Tovolar seldom is seen outside of werewolf form.

I can't wait for more rules info, I very much want to do my own homebrew asap. Since it looks like this installment will feature only mono-colored walkers, so atm only the rules can help surmise how dual-colored walkers will likely be implemented. I also hope Ajani is included, since a Planeswalker I'd like to edit in is a Leonin.
