I have a coworker who told me this outlandish story about how his bud uses anornithopter on turn 2 to make it a 15/15 or summon a 15/15 something along the lines of that, he couldn't explain to me the full mechanics. The way he talks about it is that the ornithopter is a vital component to the combo. I put it in casual since his group of friends are basically playing for fun purely.
The only 15/15 I know of is Flying Spaghetti Monster and Sneak and Show players tend to use that. I don't think Affinity is that fast either to shove a big body like Darksteel Colossus on turn 2 either.
I'm leaning towards my coworker is mistaken. But then again MTG is rather expansive so there might be some combo I'm missing.
What tournament is it? Is it one that you reasonably have a chance at winning? Judging from your experience, I'm going to guess no.
If that's the case, play what you think you will have fun with. No reason to pick your best if you won't win either way. If you want to start playing Jund, then start playing it.
I'll be going to a SCG Open in RI.
I doubt I will win it but I want to get the experience under my belt and not get eliminated in the first game.
I have a monored burn deck with Fetches and a Jund with punishing fires in it. I'm going to my first tourney with a friend next month and I am wondering which deck to play there.
I've played the burn deck on MTGO extensively but haven't gotten the best results with it. I always go 2-2 on the daily events, I just seem to lose to RUG Delver too much.
I do have Jund physically but I have not been able to play test it since I don't have many friends with legacy decks. I was able to make the deck with most of the cards from my collection and just had to buy Dark Confidants and Tarmogoyfs.
I used to play around late Urza block to beginning of Odyssey with a good friend then stopped playing for some reason I cannot remember.
I remember I used to be one of the worst players at my grade school in magic because everyone had fancy cards/ I didn't know how to play. It was so frustrating losing to my friend all the time with his absurd control decks. My parents bought me the Deckmasters box so I decided let me try using those decks, I just shoved more incinerates and storm shamans in there to make it viable. One game I managed to just soul burn and incinerate my friend out of nowhere.
My friend tried to get me back into Magic with the M10 sealed prerelease event. It was obvious I still didn't know what I was doing, I didn't even know you had a second main phase :facepalm:. I managed to win a game because my friend helped me with the deck. The experience was pretty bad due to the LGS being full of dicks so I ended up not getting back into it.
Now just like three months ago my friend again convinced me to play this time with MTGO. I was having fun again and wanted me to play in a legacy tourney with him in November, he gave me an Innistrad Fat pack and an M14 fat pack he had left over. Out of the Innistrad pack I got 2 Liliana of the Veils in them and one Chandra, Pyromaster in the other one:drool:.
I'm a lot better at Magic now but still my deck building skills are awful unless it's about building burn decks.
