Hi there! I'm looking for people in the Indianapolis area to draft with, eventually hoping to start a flashback limited league if there's enough interest. I live in the Castleton/North Indianapolis area, reply or message me if you're interested!
Hi NecrOmancer! I use Booster Tutor in my cube, and it seems to work just fine. I run a 540 vintage cube, and there are always excess cards from which to make packs. The power level of the cube is high enough that including the tutor is strong, and that the caster is generally not devoid of targets. What kind of cube are you trying to run?
Modern-wise, I think this could be really interesting in a UR midrange-control shell as a late-game card advantage engine. This isn't a T3 play, but a T5 or T6 play at the earliest. Double-casting Serum Visions, Telling Time (kinda gross, but it works for combo/toolbox variants), Electrolyze, or a Bolt/Counterspell late game really has the potential to bury the opponent in a consistent enough shell. Unfortunately, casting cost wise, it competes with Blood Moon, which just wins games, and perhaps more closely/relevantly Vedalken Shackles (both T3 do nothings that you want later in the game). Hard to say if this is worth it, definitely worth consideration though.
I paid $450 for a NM English Tabernacle, and about $400 each for an Unlimited Mox Ruby, an Unlimited Mox Pearl, and a Mishra's Workshop. I've spent a lot more buying collections.
My most valuable deck is 90-95% foiled mono-white Hokori, Dust Drinker Artifacts/Stax, worth just under $6000. I'm trying to upgrade to Japanese foils, but I only have ten or so now, all of which are fairly inexpensive; getting the higher value ones is proving to be not so viable since it's almost impossible to trade for them, and I really don't want to drop almost a thousand for a Japanese foil Port :/
I have never really seen anyone ask this, but of the cards on the banned list, which one would increase in price the most if it were unbanned? when BB was unbanned it spiked like crazy, sure it went down, but that night i saw them going for like $70. which card do you think would spike the most percentage-wise? i could see JTMS jumpig up, maybe even doubling, but would a card like GGT more than double? how about the others, any that could possibly come off and spike like crazy?
I would guess that Dark Depths would spike the most proportionally, as it was only printed in Coldsnap and it would completely warp/define the format, especially as there are fewer efficient ways to deal with it as compared to Legacy. That said, cards that could effectively combat DD (Path to Exile, Fulminator Mage?) would see a healthy spike as well. Overall, Skullclamp would've been my #1 pick, as it would wreck the format even more than DD, except that it was printed three times, although an unbanning would still make it a $30-40+ uncommon. JTMS and Top would also see huge spikes.
Personally, I really like Ghostly Prison, Tabernacle, and Linvala's tax effects. My deck is essentially colorless splash white, so Ethersworn Canonist does wonders as well. The most important thing is to have accessibility to threats after you drop Hokori, which is why there are so many mana-enabling artifacts. It's less dedicated-Hokori and more artifact combo, but it works, and I think it's one of the better ways to play Hokori, since his ability alone usually ends up locking down the board.
Hokori, Dust Drinker lock-down, hands-down. I enjoy playing it because Winter Orb-on-a-stick + artifact mana + other lock-down effects is really powerful, but also because I often have a lot of choices other than comboing-out or locking the board, allowing for a good degree of adaptability depending on the intensity of the playgroup.
Yes! Call it Magus of the Scales
