I am trying out the Eldrazis and Taxes list for the first time. I'm enjoying the vial-less build. I am part of a Discord server dedicated to all flavors of Eldrazis. We have over 100 people discussing and reporting back on their Eldrazi builds and tournament results. Just in case anyone is interested, here is the Discord link:

Right around 100 people for a Modern event at a pretty amazing shop near me, someone made the Top 8 with Colorless Eldrazi running a 57 of 60 stock main deck cutting one land and going down to 1 Zalfirian Void to make room for more Ghost Quarters, and a Sea Gate Wreckage with a Karn, Scion of Urza in the MD. For some reason the store hasn't posted the final outcome from yesterday, but here's a pic of the list (and the rest on the page).

I took stock 75 and started 3-0 but then lost to GW Hatebears and Infect in three games each, and dropped to go eat bbq after.

The 1x Defensive Grid in SB is curious.

Jordan is still testing it out. Once I can get my hands on a set of Zhalfirin Void, I will try out this land list:

    Lands (23)
    4 Eldrazi Temple
    2 Gemstone Caverns
    3 Ghost Quarter
    4 Blinkmoth Nexus
    2 Mutavault
    2 Scavenger Grounds
    2 Wastes
    4 Zhalfirin Void

if you use this on a legendary, it makes a non-legendary token.... but the original legendary creature still dies, right? checks name?

No, the original legendary does not go to the GY since the token is a non-legendary even though they have the same name.

704.5j: If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners' graveyards. This is called the "legend rule."

Mainlands have won me so many games. I wouldn't cut any. Six seems decent.

I am having a tough time against Bant Knightfall. Does anyone have any tips? How do you sideboard? They have a lot of value like Thrun, the Last Troll, Elspeth's Sun Champion, and Worship.

In most cases, we drop Chalice for 1. In others, we drop it for 0 and/or 2 or sideboard them out for Relics or other card tech. But in your testing and experience, what is the optimal number(s) for Chalice against certain archetypes? I will list some examples from my recent matches:

    Affinity - Chalice for 0 and/or 2
    Jund - 1 and/or 2
    Traverse Shadow - 1 and/or 2
    Grixis Shadow - 1 and/or 2?
    EldraziTron - 1?
    Bant Eldrazi - 1
    RG Eldrazi - 1
    G Tron - 1
    Humans - 1 and/or 2
    UW Control - 1 and/or 2
    Jeskai Control - 1 and/or 2
    Burn - 1 and/or 2
    Pyromancer - 1 and/or 2
    G/W Hexproof - 1
    Ad Nauseam - 1
    B/R Hollow One - 1
    Death & Taxes - 1 and/or 2
    Zoo - 1 and/or 2

Here is an earlier post by Jordan re: Spyglass. He also discusses it in his article.

Spyglass not worth i think, i changed my mind and will test instead phyrexian revoker, because same mana but as a creature more agressiv. I need an effect of needle/spyglass/revoker because of eldrazi. Call endbringer/ballista/basilisk collar/kharn/ratchet. It is great vs. Affinity too and lantern. Each of this decks have less removal, so revoker is maybe better then needle and spyglass, because you dont loose to much creatures after siding and dont loose your agrostyle. P.S affinity and lantern is a bad matchup for me, because i cut chalice and play relic. Maybe because of this it is not needed for some of you guys and only for me
One of the main uses for Needle/Spyglass and the reason I put it into the deck at all is dealing with planeswalkers, which usually come out of decks packed with removal (UW, Jeskai, Esper, BGx, etc.). Against Ux, for instance, Relic-Scourge often sets games up so that the only way they can beat us is with Sun's Champ. I can see Revoker being better vs. Lantern or Affinity though. Personally I don't think this deck is playable right now without Chalices; keep in mind my article featuring the 4-Relic version was published during a warped metagame (specifically, just before the Dredge ban).

I have been on 2 Spyglass over the Needles. The upside I noted of hitting lands while being aggressive is largely irrelevant, as Mimic often comes out when Spyglass comes in. But there are some matchups where we want Chalice on 1 AND a Needle (Ux control decks especially, but also Bant Eldrazi, and Affinity on the play), and Spyglass is obviously better there. It is much harder on our curve though. Still watching the slot.

Can you post up your deck list? You seem to run a variant to Jordan Boisvert's list.

The matchup between Jim Davis' Jeskai Control and Jonathan Job's Colorless Eldrazi at SCG Dallas Open was brutal to watch. He could have benefited from Cavern of Souls but the deck made into Day 2 without it. Is there a solid argument to include it in Jordan Boisvert's original deck list? What would be removed? Scavenger Grounds are too good in the meta.

Here are the Twitch links to Jonathan's plays:

At this point, I am looking at a Jund shell without delirium. Demon seems promising and maybe a Demon Marvel deck will make more sense in this new meta. After looking at other G/B deck list (thanks to Snipercandyman, dough54321, & WalkingJupiter), this is my early build. Should this still fall under Marvel or should a new primer be created as Red suggested? This deck can technically evolve out of Marvel and use Gonti's Aether Heart instead. I guess this answers my question.

Even a resolving Ulamog with a successful cast ability beyond Turn 5 can be very underwhelming. I ran into many situations where Ulamog gets countered, exiled, or sac'd by an effect. I rarely get a chance to keep Ulamog beyond a turn before it gets removed by Declaration in Stone/Stasis Snare or sac'd by Blessed Alliance. Ulamog is a powerful creature but there's too many answers. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm opting for a BG or Jund shell for Marvel without a huge emphasis on Ulamog. The Demon may be the next best thing like Red said. And like PJ I, I am little conflicted in which direction to go. Maybe its too early to tell and we will have better ideas after ProTour Aether Revolt in February.
