Looks like wotc agreed with us since they did put snow in the set -

Back on topic, super excited about fun-loving Elf Tyvar. King af! So happy there's representation for all the Elves who live in Scandinavia.
I admit I went off-topic (and believe me, I'll go back to talking 100% about elves), but how is my opinion so problematic? I'm asking for representation, something that various other groups have done in this community with great success with nobody complaining.
As I said, I don't actually care that much about Latino representation. Kaldheim could be 100% Scandinavian looking people and it's be only acurate. I'm only pointing out what I think is fairly hypocritical using the same "victimhood" language.
Quote from ilovesaprolings »wotc is really giving the middle finger to white supremacists
This is exactly what bothers me. If you think people who prefer the viking plane to have mostly, well, viking looking people (just the same for Asians in Kamigawa, Latinos in Ixalan, etc) are "white supremacists", you are, honestly, wrong. I'm not a white supremacist, I'm not even white, yet I do prefer that.
Anyway, back to elves... -

I have personally taken this complaint to Maro multiple times, with him actually answering, and had raging fire storms of livid fury about it on these forums in the past. So you are not alone.Quote from Gizlivadi »I can't be the only one who's sick of the fact that the art on the packaging is always better than the art on the actual card. I just can't be.
And I thank you for that, regardless of result. Art and theme are the reason I play MTG, mechanics being a third for sure (maybe I take them for granted, that MTG is still one of the best card games out there). Considering Elves are my favorite fantasy creature type in fantasy in general, the fact that such an excellent piece of art ended up on the box while the card art looks rather boring, will pretty much determine whether I buy this or not.
@ThyLordQ, yep, we've gotten some elf precons in the not too distant past, but it's been AGES since we had actual interesting elves in a plane. As I said in another thread, Ravnica and Kaladesh elves are pretty much the same and as boring as can be, while there are no elves in Ixalan, no elves in Amonkhet, no elves in Innistrad, no elves in Theros, barely any elves in Eldraine, no elves in Ikoria... I always roll my eyes when people say "elves AGAIN??? Ugh, we're so saturated of them!" If you actually were a fan of elves, you'd know the last time we got actual interesting elves was Lorwyn, 13 years ago. -

Who?
Who doesn't? Other than a handful of "acchhtuuaally vikings didn't have horns on their helmets and they did actually experience summer!" types.
I still have hopes for this set being cool since the leaked art box art has lots of snow and the designs of those leaked figures look pretty cool.
So far I’m only counting 3.
You're absolutely kidding yourself and being contrarian for the sake of it if you seriously think only three people (on a forum where every thread devolves into angry contrarian arguments to begin with) want this to be a full on snow plane. As Forgottenplaneswalker also pointed out, it's been described as nothing but an icy snow plane throughout the years it's been mentioned.
I'm worried Wizards will go the ridiculous "subversion of expectations" route that's been so popular in media the last couple of years ("you want ice and snow? here have some more Zendikar with a god and a troll!"), but like I said, I still have hopes for tons of ice and snow.
Very much look forward to seeing the spoilers -

WarMachinePrime posted a message on Kaldheim set booster box leakPosted in: The Rumor MillIn fact, it was so poorly received that it is the best-selling set in Magic's history as of September 2019
Just because it is "best selling" doesn't mean that all those cards ended up in the hands of players. I would agree sales to vendors were probably at an all time high, but that is because they jacked up the print runs at the time as well to historic levels. Of course it is going to be "best selling" when they sell to distributors at hyper-printing numbers. Fallen Empires was a "best selling" set at the time because they printed it to the moon. As of this year you could still buy FE booster boxes on the cheap and packs at like 5 bucks each. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The posters labeled racist are the same that pointed out representation isn’t mutually exclusive. Liberals eating their own.
2
MTGSalvation: "Norse Myth World! Can't wait to see snow, Vikings, gods, etc.!"
Liberal NPCs: "How can we make this about Racism? It's the only algorithm we can run in our minds!"
And they call me negative.
