No, I meant which ever Mythic stinks (RTR's Hellkite for example) my local store sells hundreds of boxes and tracks rarity with the buyers and we see that mythics that we know will suck are 3/4 times more common than Planeswalker mythics.

I don't believe you (or the people who told you that at least). Tracking what's opened already seems suspect, but then finding that something printed on the same exact sheet as the chase Mythics is 3-4 times more common seems pretty outlandish. I guess since most cards at most rarities are trash that might be part of how you got that. Most likely it's because playable 4-of Mythics require 9-10 boxes of product per playlet and it takes just 1 box to get all the crappy RTR Hellkites you and all your friends need (1).

I don't blame you for not believing me. I wouldn't either if I wasn't directly connected to the data for the last 6 years and thousands of cases worth of information we've collected.

This is pretty normal from the data my team and I have gathered over the years. Promo rares are printed at a much higher rarity (our speculation) than things like S. Revelation. There has never been a set where I open the most expensive mythic more than once or twice (often zero).

OK, so if someone takes control of my turn and reaches for my sideboard can I scoop before he gets to have a peek? I assume when I scoop the game ends immediately and he no longer controls my cards right?

So it looks like Worst Fears allows you to make all decisions for your opponent during his turn. Which rule (please show it) prevents me from making my opponent scoop the game?

I know it's not a common Modern card but any idea on the long term value of Foil Sphinx's Revelation? It gets play in modern, a lot of play in Commander and in Cube.

Drop and then slow rise? Drop and drop more?

    What's the consensus?

I don't see how this deck crushes FNM. How many matches have you actually played in the past month? Did you lose one match and drop? Can you show us your DCI report? Does your shop post FNM results? How many people at your FNM? I think you're lying about how this deck perfoms.

This deck isn't completely terrible (it's not optimal but has mostly quality cards and a coherent gameplan), and FNM's vary wildly in the quality of player. I've been to FNM's where you have half a dozen players who are capable of winning a PTQ or SCG Open, and I've been to FNM's where you get 8 players and half of them just learned to play. I've played against plenty of people at FNM who are just not capable of beating this type of control deck. Even against good players this deck would have a reasonable chance in the hands of a skilled pilot.

This is not very different from the Esper Control lists that are currently winning GP's and SCG events. Verdict, Revelation, Detention Sphere are all there, and plenty of instants. Really, the Breaking and Mind Grind are the only cards I find especially suspect here. Otherwise, it's not that bad.

This deck has no game against aggro or control. No one is exaggerating here. The deck has no win con to speak of. The esper lists that even FNMs run will at least have card advantage through Jace. Heck he isn't even running Memory Adept which is one of the best cards for this deck. He has the core cards and then his other cards are all terribly weak in comparison.

Alright what "gear" do you guys bring when playing Magic? Do you bring different things based on casual and/or serious play?

For serious play I bring deckbox, playmat, extra sleeves, different dice and counters, tapping stones along with pad and paper.

    What say you?

There's a pretty strong Joven's Ferret deck that runs Pendelhaven and 4 Ordeals of Nylea, 4 Ordeals of Thassa and just holds up a lot of countermana and card draw.

Looks pretty bad. No Thoughtseize or Duress? No Jace?

Searing Blood isn't very good in this set for similar reasons that Drown is ho-hum. Often Blood just sits in your hand (occasionally you can't play it based on RR). Fated C. on the other hand has played out very well for me in the two drafts I was passed it in. Got me past Nessian Asp (basically ending the game) twice. Killed a Elspeth I could have never hoped to beat and I once used it on a 1/2 creature to push through a lethal attack.

    1. Fated C. 2. Fall of the Hammer 3. Bolt 4. S. Blood

In terms of ordering a complete set by turning in cards. What if I only want the rares and mythics? I don't really want to waste an extra20+ of international shipping to those 170 cards into a trashcan. COuld I turn in the set and say, just give me the rares and mythics please?

    Fabled Hero

I'll pick a fight over white in pack two if it means I get to play this card and have a chance to give my opponent's a real beating. This card is ridiculous and easily wins on it's own which is usually tough for a three drop. I'll pair this up with our blue and make a white/blue deck with a chance to run people over.
