O used to use it in Shattergang Brothers as well. It was pretty sock there haha.

How well does Ugin's Nexus perform in your meta?

For me it performs pretty well. I run it in Daretti and I tutor for it when I'm ready to pull off something silly.

  • posted a message on How do we feel about making every planeswalker playable as your general?
I really think people are just afraid of change here. Tezz is really not any worse than Arcum, and Liliana of the Veil needs to stick around to be really annoying. Aside from those two, none of the walkers would be bad as commanders. I also think an influx of new generals is always a positive. Personally I would probably end up building Kiora or Domri.

Re: Un- cards. I don't support a mass legalization becuase I think it would either warp the format in annoying ways or have no effect at all. I don't mind limited use of some of the more innocuous ones, though. I plan on using Ashnod's Coupon in my Daretti as soon as I find a copy. Particularly because my venue has two soda machines.

I run them in most decks. They are by far my favorite T1 land drop in the format.

I'll be keeping Duneblast in Karador, because of Eternal Witness. Real nice in any deck that doesn't have access to black, white and green, though.

If you are a collector, you are looking to complete a collection. That is what collectors do. Thus fluctuations in value of cards you already own do not affect your finances in the slightest, unless you plan to sell the cards at some point. In which case you are no longer a collector but merely someone who holds onto cards for a long time with the idea of selling them at some point - this is the definition of a baggage holder.

Sundial of the Infinite means that you can amass an army of Inferno Titans, Steel Hellkites, and anything else your heart desires.

Unfortunately, the tokens would just die on the next player'ss turn.

You're thinking of it wrong. It goes like this:

    1. You make the token on your turn
    2. At your end step the sac ability triggers
    3. End the turn with the sac trigger on the stack, exiling it and permanently giving you the token

Huh, you're right. I stand corrected.

I don't care for this list too much, in the context of a format-wide mandate. My playgroup and I personally tend to play by similar guidelines but that is certainly not a playstyle that I would feel justified on forcing on the entire format.

Although anyone saying that, without mass land destruction the game would be dominated by this or that, stop. You're full of it.

    Re: politics
My group doesn't like it when I play politics too much...but that usually involves my Shattergang Brothers deck threatening to blow up someone's creatures unless they Krosan Grip something I dislike. I can see their issue. :p

I don't dislike cards, I dislike playstyles. Goodstuff is definitely the worst, and whenever I see Hellkite Tyrant in a red list without any affinity to artifacts, I cringe. Similarly, despite running 20+ green decks, I use Tooth and Nail in one of them because it's only interesting when Riku can copy the spell, then copy each of the creatures that come into play. I just wish that people would at least pretend to craft their decks with a bit more finesse. There are well over 10000 cards (maybe even close to 20000 now right?); there's no excuse that your decks should all look the same and/or do the same thing.

How is using a very, very good general to copy a very goodstuff card not...goodstuff?

Vows: I'm very happy with these. I've found that they work exactly as intended are are generally very satisfying to use, even if they are not top-tier removal.
Join forces: Generally pretty bad in my experience in that thy do not do anything particularly multiplaye-centric. I've used Alliance of Arms with Purphuros or sac outlet + creature death effects any number of times, but it's not for group hug effect there.
Tempting offer: I think these are sleeper successes. People are too greedy and they often end up all or mostly taking it. I've even had 4 out of 5 other players take my Tempt with Vengeance when I have Purphy out...I have no idea why.

If I recall correctly, a wedge 'walker was hinted at. Ugin is colorless, Sorin and Sarkhan are almost certainly not getting new versions this block, and, out of an unknown walker and the only existing three-color PW, it seems more likely that Nicol Bolas shifts colors a bit. Maybe he turns colors when the timeshift happens, or something.

Also, wedge-colored drgagon lords would be pretty boring, since we already have wedge-colored dragons.

If only DotP had given us a servant of Bolas strongly associated with wedge colors and thematically kind of fitting with Tarkir as well - someone in dire need of a card... like Ramaz.

Bolas's colors ave become kind of an iconic part to him. I see Bolas going two-colored before adding white or green anyway. (And, no, I don't see Bolas going two-colored.)

So what was the hint anyway?

I think it's more likely that the wedge walker will be Ugin or Narset, I will say. I don't recall specifically where MaRo hinted at it (maybe his ask thing?. I'm sure someone else here knows what I'm talking about.

  • posted a message on how competitive or casual is your group?
Somewhere in between casual and competitive...as is most every group, I imagine. The decks are generally high quality but we also try not to play with cards that
    A) are really just too strong in an unfun way, like Sylvan Primordial (with abuse, of course) prior to is banning
B)infinite combos of any kind (which are highly frowned upon when we play).

Our play group style is semi-dominated by one player with a "big personality" so to speak (not a negative thing) who generally convinces us not to play with certain cards. I generally comply with his requests, because they are usually very healthy for our playgroup's fun...once in awhile some of us will disagree and play something he disapproves of (in my case, I don't agree that Consecrated Sphinx is too busted).

I mean this probably sounds like some sort of Stockholm Syndrome thing where we all follow his orders and convince ourselves it's for the best...it's really just that he is sort of the moderator of sorts. Very glad to have him around.

Usually 35 or 36 with a significant amount of ramp/rocks. I run 38 in Bladewing the Risen.
