So, this is to Populate what Inexorable Tide is to Proliferate.

It's too expensive to be used in normal token decks :/. A token doubling effect will be better most time and is cheaper. In some combos maybe.

Right, because in a green Commander deck, you're totally not running some ramp to get this out early, and you totally won't still have lots of spells to cast afterward. Not to mention token doublers don't create tokens with every spell you cast.

A Naya Cat Legend! Yes! Granted, I think Marisi is a bit of a weird choice for a part-white legend, but at least he's literally a Naya Cat. And he's a Warrior to boot, so he's also good for Warrior tribal decks. The Populate deck is definitely shaping up to be my favorite this year.

Well hot damn. Now that's a Weatherlight design I like. Grin I appreciate that, for once, the Threaten effect doesn't require untapping the creature. Just take the tapped Minotaur and smash someone else's face in with him!

Hanna's original card is serviceable, but something more focused on artifacts would be nice.

Other Weatherlight crew members who could use new cards:

    Orim
    Ertai
    Crovax (preferably pre-Vampire)
    Starke
Tahngarth (the original breaks color pie by putting vigilance on a red creature, and for some reason he doesn't simply use fight)
    Rofellos
    Karn

Over half of these are on the Reserved List. Would be nice to have new cards that can actually be reprinted. What would be really super is a supplemental set that recounts the Weatherlight saga. It would include some reprints (including cards like Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist, Sisay, Weatherlight Captain, and of course Weatherlight) as well as a bunch of new cards (including hopefully a better card for Gerrard). The set would cover the early days of the crew, like when Rofellos was still alive and Selenia was Crovax's guardian Angel, and proceed through the Rath, Mercadia, and Invasion arcs. Cycling, Kicker, and Domain would be the major featured mechanics, along with perhaps a combat keyword. Reverse Flanking, perhaps? Or a renamed Bushido?

I feel as though the left side will have rules text, and the right side flavor text written out like a classic story. Of course let's not forget that stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end, so maybe this will work a bit like Sagas, only the Sagas in this case are directly involved in the effects. Goldilocks here for example will obviously involve killing creatures at some point, whether by fighting, "biting", or dealing combat damage. The bear trap also suggests some form of luring effect. The large schism between the mana cost and the "story cost" indicates that the effect of the latter, whatever it may be, is something intended to take place much later on. I suspect a one-shot effect akin to Monstrosity or Renown. Another possibility is that activating the effect starts the story, while subsequent actions from the player allow it to play out.

I could change the second version to say "one or more players". That way she can only ever cantrip one card at a time off any instant or sorcery.

    Foxfire, Kitsune Mystic 2URW
    Legendary Creature - Fox Wizard
    Lifelink
Whenever ~ deals damage to one or more players, you may draw a card.
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, ~ deals 3 damage divided as you choose among any number of targets.
    3/3

And now I've got a third option in mind: A Confluence-style modal trigger.

    Foxfire, Kitsune Mystic 2URW
    Legendary Creature - Fox Wizard
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, choose three. You may choose the same mode more than once.
    * Scry 1.
    * ~ deals 1 damage to any target.
    * Create a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying.
    3/3

Miracle's main problem in Avacyn Restored was that when drawing cards, players instinctively put cards straight into their hands without looking at them first, which could easily lead to misplays and cheating. But, what if Miracle instead triggered off being revealed? Then AVR could have had lots of "reveal the top card of your library" effects to support Miracle much like how SOI had lots of discard costs to support Madness.

    Miraculous Restoration 4WW
    Instant
Return to the battlefield each permanent card in your graveyard that was put there from the battlefield this turn.
Miracle 1WW (When you reveal this card from the top of your library, you may cast it for its miracle cost.)

    Angel's Prophet 1W
    Creature - Human Cleric
T: Reveal the top card of your library. If it's an Angel card, you may gain 4 life. Otherwise, you may gain 1 life.
    1/3

Perhaps it's "Draw N cards, then put N cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." That way, white can exchange less useful cards for more useful cards without actually gaining any cards. For example, a white Divination could say "Draw two cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." Basically, white's equivalent of looting. Since white is allowed cantrips, it could also get something like "Draw three cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." Basically a white Brainstorm, but at a higher mana cost. Say, 3W?

"Too slow for combo decks"? You can cast him turn 1 with a couple cards! Hell, he looks like a terrifying Tendrils enabler!

"Too expensive for fair decks"? You mean decks that choose to just ignore the phyrexian payment altogether, thereby missing the point of the card? Or are you saying there's a "fair" way to exploit the "pay 2 life for B" effect?

Who knew you could morph Thespian's Stage? :p
They mentioned that they would be spoiling cards on a per deck basis, so all the official cards are from the Morph deck today.

I think it falls in the flavor of one thing turning into another along with Volrath and the vampire being other things that change.

I was cracking a joke about the image in the OP. :p

Grismold: Hey, dude, can you take care of this plant for me? I, uh, need to hide it someplace for a while.
Varolz: Aw, man, you didn't get busted again, did you?
Grismold: No!...and I want to keep it that way.
Varolz: "Keep it that way!?" What if I get busted!?
Grismold: That's not gonna happen, man! Nobody will think to look for it at your place. Far as anyone knows, you're the mushroom guy, not the plant guy.
Varolz: "The mushroom guy"? What about Slimefoot?
Grismold: Slimefoot hasn't spoken to me since that one incident. And technically, he deals in Saprolings, not mushrooms per se.
Varolz: Slimefoot doesn't speak at all. He's a Fungus, for Svogthirs' sake!
Grismold: You know what I mean! He hasn't...communicated with me, except by giving me rather rude...er, hand?...gestures.
Varolz: You know, for a Troll, you're pretty good at burning your bridges. *sigh* Fine. I'll hide it for a while. Just make sure you get your stash back before anyone else finds it.
Grismold: Much appreciated, buddy! I'll make it up to you, I promise!
Varolz: That'd be a nice change...
